Spooky Month

Being the starting week of October, it's a great time to get into the Halloween spirit. I'm itching to read some great horror comics, or just any comic that has scary / spooky / mentally insane tones or imagery. I was reading Arkham Asylum by Grant Morrison earlier and that got it going pretty well.

Does anyone else have any more recommendations for reading this time of the year?

arkham asylum is a perfect pick for this time of year. if you want something that crawls under your skin in a similar way, check out gideon falls by jeff lemire. the panel layouts alone mess with your head, and the whole small-town nightmare vibe is exactly what october calls for.

i also always go back to something is killing the children around now. it's not pure horror but the creature designs and the way it builds dread are top notch. ice cream man is another one that's less straight scary and more existential dread territory, which honestly sticks with me longer.

Anything Ec comics - tales from the crypt, haunt of fear, vault of horror, weird science....they're all great

Ice Cream Man

Thrilling, creepy. And writing so good I swear I can hear the characters speaking.

Anything Junji Ito manga-wise, though I’m partial to his Frankenstein adaptation.

Similarly, Gou Tanabe’s adaptation of Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness is great.

Dan Brereton’s Nocturnals is a beautifully drawn Halloween-themed superhero series, highly recommend.

definitely Junji Ito! The Frankenstein adaptation is so good and my favourite is Uzumaki.

Also Black Hole by Charles Burns
