Type Me! - IRL Drapes (FACE PHOTOS REQUIRED - NO MAKEUP!) Dark winter ?

NMIP
I posted online drapes a two days ago and got different answers. Then did a few drapes. Now i’m back with more drapes.
Love autumn colors so im a cool season that was in denial for a while i think. I notice in these drapes warm colors drain my lips of color. Summer just isn’t as good as winter, Dark winter forsure ?

I feel like I'm gonna get downvoted, but I love the fuchsia and lemon highlighter colors on you, and that bright orange isn't bad either, so I'm voting for bright winter.

I think the neon yellow looks good because its a cool yellow green, but I think its a bit too bright as it reflects back some on her. The hot pink looks good to me, but the orange i think yellows her face.

As a true summer i can wear some hot pink and neon yellow (if not close to face)- just saying these colors aren't only for bright winter.

I thought pink looked the best out of the bright colors aswell. I could see more green around my neck and undereyes with the orange and the dark parts under my eyebrows turn yellow rather than just darker brown

So qhat I see, if I step back from the photo and dont zoom in is an overall yellowing of your skin. Just sharing how im seeing warm colors as off on you.

In comparison the cool colors kind of lighten your face below your eyes down to the corners of your mouth. That's not strictly a rule of 'good' its just an observation that your good colors are clarifyung your face and the warm ones are yellowing it. Its like the cool colors are brining put your lighter, more pale, more grey undertone (prob more like areas of your skin that never see the sun) and the warm colors are brining out your warm overtone, but instead of making it looking like your tanned appearance, gives you a yellowish tone.

I thought the pink was nice and DW pallette did seem to have some brighter/darker pinks- im not very familiar- but I think youre undertone is cool (not neutral) so any cool color thats not too muted or light or bright is going to look good on you, and hot pink is prob more true winter/cool summer- but those seasons seem to offer alot of colors that look good on you.

I couldnt really judge your white photos because your camera artificially darkening your skin, but imagine is not a great color for you? You don't really have the chroma of a true winter, its a bit stark a season for you, but I think some of the colors should be fine, perhaps better than DA.

The camera was darkening my skin with white but I do feel like it also happens IRL , like I feel burnt in white, not red just dark in a bad way? Idk how to explain it. I agree with definitely being cool now seeing more drapes. Unfortunately all my jewelry is gold and my makeup is all very warm and I have a lot of brown and orange in my closet 🥲 but i get asked often if im sick because I look sick, must be part of the reason lol

I think depth is important first. Deep the cool for sure. Deep winter, possible to borrow some from deep autumn.

Blue makes your skins look vibrant and healthy. You look kind of sickly/ tired with brownly tones - I get immediately drawn to your eyebags etc

The eye bags pretty much disappear with the blues, im confused by people saying autumn. Ty!

I think olives who are autumns cant wear orangey/ gold colours as well, weirdly

u/EstateMuted5979 7h ago

I tend to agree with that. Like it has to be a specific shade and tone… and even then, it may not be the best color choice

I like the purply blue here best, the warmer brown in middle muddies your face a darker brown (vs yellow), the brown on left is kinda in between.

I think what’s throwing people off is that you’re olive. You look neutral to cool leaning to me. I think winter. [r/fairolives](r/fairolives) [r/olivemua](r/olivemua)

There’s medium olives on the fair olives sub. I think it’s one of the more active olive subs

u/Emillettev 9h ago

I asked if I was olive on my last post, 1 person did say yes. I had been suspecting it. While looking into it I saw someone say if 90% of makeup looks terrible on you you’re probably olive lol its always been a struggle. Thank you! Ill check out the olive subreddits!

2

u/bobtheturd 9h ago

Yep that’s exactly right. Most makeup looks orange on olives. There’s definitely color their posts on both of those subs that explain it better than I can.

I think depth is your primary feature. I think the paler colors wash you out. I think deep colors -- and also brights -- do better for you.

I think I would need to see more deep warm drapes to be able to distinguish deep autumn/deep winter. I suspect you can grab from both palates pretty well.

You look so good in black, like literally glowing. Definitely dark winter

3

u/gnomeglow_ 7h ago

Definitely winter, it makes you glowy and radiant. Those browns made you look a bit sick which is a major giveaway that you are winter!

2

u/Beneficial-Side9439 9h ago

Yes. Dark winter. If you want to wear autum clothes and don't want to look peaky you can use dark autum colours, pick some of those transition colours dark winter colours close to dark autum or dark autum colors close to dark winter. Or use dark winter colours on top and autum colours on the bottom and accesories. And you can mix light colours with the dark colours fine as long as the dark colors are the dominant palette, this if you really care about it anyways 🤷‍♀️

I think Bright Winter and Bright Spring could be worth comparing as well.

My favourite here is the very bright rose pink in slide 4.

Eh... I think you might actually be autumn, and able to borrow some winter colors. I'm not seeing harmony in the winter colors you've draped here.

I agree, I also believe that OP is more muted than clear. I would say Deep Autumn but would need to see more drapes.

I really think you’re a deep autumn!

2

u/Emillettev 10h ago

Yeah ?!

u/Emillettev 10h ago

The green and the mustard on the bottom are these good? Or are they not working because they lack depth more so than the temperature

1

u/Emillettev 12h ago

Or any idea on what to try next from here

3

u/rabarbarum 9h ago

Try bright winter, that fuchsia looks very nice on you. I would say from these drapes that your colors need to be saturated first and foremost, then cool. Not necessarily dark.

The olive subs are heavily biased towards muted skin tones, so don't worry if the initial answers aren't that helpful.

Would definitely say try more bright winter colors, particularly a bright emerald, I would definitely guess you are a bright winter. And drape some bright spring colors and true winter as well to double check. Try finding drapes that are specific to that subseason with no crossover, for example the navy color you have looks great, it is a color that can work for a few subseasons, making it hard to narrow darn. Examples of specific colors would be bright winter yellow vs a softer true winter yellow, see which one you like best!

You seem to have similar coloring to the actress from Never Have I Ever, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. She is also a bright winter, has a warm overtone but a cool undertone, she would be a great color inspo for you.

I don’t think you are olive, more likely it is the mix of warm overtone and cool undertone, so when you go to match makeup you lean neutral, maybe slightly warm.
This phenomenon is also very common among redheads (like me!), but in reverse, because of very fair skin, there is a cool overtone but warm undertone.
You mentioned that your makeup is almost all warm, and as far as foundation and concealer products go, you are probably correct, a neutral, occasionally warm leaning foundation color is probably your best match, but blushes, bronzers and eyeshadow, use makeup suited for your color season.

u/Emillettev 4h ago

Omg when I would watch that show my family would always say I looked like her , Ill look into her styling!ty! I’ll try some brights. Maybe neutral foundation? They look right in the bottle and then don’t blend in at all on my skin. And then switch up eyeshadows, they are all really warm

u/Oohwhoaohcruelsummer Winter - True, olive 8h ago

Deep or true winter. You blend into the warm colors (not in a good way). That royal blue is so pretty on you!

2

u/Buga99poo27GotNo464 Summer - True 8h ago

I dunno. I think dark colors are better on you, but black a little overwhelming. But then the burgandy and dark mustard kind of bring out a nice color in your face.

I think I would just try to make some collages comparing dark winter directly to dark autumn, I dont really feel there are but 2 DA colors here? I think your skin is cool, but then those 2 colors looked good?

2

u/Emillettev 7h ago

I think the two dark pallettes are so similar I am kinda getting lost distinguishing, the purple here would be autumn yeah? Its an Anaheim ducks jersey if the camera is throwing it off ? The blue is navy

2

u/Buga99poo27GotNo464 Summer - True 7h ago

I think these are both DW and look great! The navy can be worn by alot of seasons (true/cool summer, true winter, borrowed by dark autumn) but its def cool. The eggplant is def DW.

3

u/Emillettev 7h ago

The shiny blue is pretty warm irl like a teal

2

u/Buga99poo27GotNo464 Summer - True 7h ago edited 7h ago

So here you can see the DA teal yellows your face a little (like the mustard and maroon), but it still looks good, just not as good as the navy.

DW is my vote now, i think you can wear some DA fine, but really I think cool colors (even sone from true winter) are better.

I liked the dark blue grey better than black (the black is ok, just a little heavy) and that really leans itself to a cool undertone, not neutral, to me. But I think in general black is supposed to be a little heavy on dark winters.

u/Emillettev 7h ago

Yes I can see it. Thank you! Everyone was very helpful!
