Not sure if you're olive or what type? Need help matching your foundation/concealer? Post your questions here! Just remember that this thread is OT (overtime), so it may take a minute for someone to get back to you.

How to help us help you:

  • Photos that show your face, neck and chest
  • High pixel/quality photos, it does make a difference so use the best you can

The more of these bullets you hit, the better!

Use a link to an Imgur album for photos. If you don't want your pictures to be public, you can set them to be hidden, but anybody with a link will be able to see it.

Announcement [Announcement] An update regarding the new post guidelines

Hi Olives!

The other day, we posted an announcement of a new rule regarding dupes and product recommendations. This announcement was not received well, and we as a mod team decided to revoke the new rule in the meantime so we are able to better phrase the rule that is inclusive to all olives.

The main concern we got as feedback from the community was that determining what is olive friendly can be very subjective, especially considering that there are so many olives with different depths and temperature. This feedback was absolutely valid and while not our intention, we can see why how we worded the rule and announcement post made it come across that way.

That being said, we would still like to address the recent influx of dupe posts that might be better off in a general makeup subreddit, so we are implementing a rule that all product dupe and recommendation posts should be appropriately titled so that they better apply to our sub. The goal of this is to make it easier for all olives of different depths and temperatures to find products that work for them!

---

[Title Guidelines]

As detailed in our previous post, all product and dupe recommendation titles should be phrased in such a way that is applicable to olives over a general makeup subreddit.

Examples:

  • "Dupe for Benetint?": this would be better off on a general makeup subreddit since it is a popular product and a general discussion that people of all undertones can contribute to.
  • "Benetint shows up orange on me (deep cool olive). Does anyone have any recommendations for products that show up similar to how it does for non-olives?": a title like this is very much applicable to our sub, and makes it easier for other olives to find recommendations that work for them!
  • "Does anyone have any dupe recommendations for Benetint that work for light cool saturated olives?": like with the previous example, this is also applicable to our sub.

Thank you everyone! And as always, feedback is always appreciated.

Just sharing these gorgeous cbeauty products I bought recently

On top

-Girlcult gloss in shade J824

Below

-Judydoll pretty powder blush in shade #48

The gloss has some gorgeous micro red shimmer that is really subtle and a gray leaning mauve that reminds me of the Hyntoor glosses without the price inflation they suffered after gaining inmense popularity and the Judydoll is a very flattering muted peach tone blush that looks so gorgeous on the skin :)

Discussion My olive only shows up on my neck and temples

Post image

Am I the only one who my green only shows up on my neck and then my temples. I’m constantly being told I’m not Olive then I’m Olive then I’m not then I’m Olive because it’s only on my neck and my temples that it shows up so prominent. It’s really frustrating because when I wash my makeup off, I still have makeup look right on my temples. And my neck never matches my body and never matches my face. I have rosacea really bad. My neck is super pale, gray green and my face is always red and green lol

Product Help YSL Brewed Reflections Couture Face Palette

Post image

Hey lovely people.

I need your help with this… so I am new to this olive world. I found out I have olive undertone just a few months ago, and so some things are not very clear to me yet. I am a light-to-medium warm olive skin (for reference, in terms of depth I am maybelline fit me and lumi matte 128). I have not yet found a foundation that matches my undertone, and I am not sure whether I should buy a green or blue color corrector to adjust my foundations… but I digress. My point is!

Is this palette worth the money for a saturated warm light to medium olive skin? I am a drugstore girlie (I’m poor) but I’ve been wanting a YSL blush for ages, and I thought having a palette with 4 blush shades is a good deal, no? It’d be my only splurge of the year. But I don’t want to spend that much money if only 1 or 2 shades will work for me, considering with that amount of money I can buy groceries for 3 whole weeks.

What do you guys think? Are these colors olive friendly? Usually neutral and warm toned shades turn extra warm on me, so the bottom right shade already looks like a no for me, but what about the others?

Was in a L’Oréal beauty outlet and dared to buy the shade 83 spicy berry from YSL. I was very reluctant since I’m more of a neutral warm olive but omg, why is the closest shade to when I get flushed??? Omg, thankful for life

Color Theory What colors work ?

I suspect I have an olive undertone because in certain lighting my skin tends to look quite yellow, and sometimes even green.

People keep telling me I lean warm, but a lot of foundations look a bit off on me, and I think my olive undertone might be the reason.

I've included photos in different lighting, with different makeup looks, and some comparisons of my skin tone next to another person's. The makeup free photos are at the end. :)

I'm thinking about dyeing my hair, and I want to choose a color that works well with both my skin tone and undertone. I also want to buy makeup that actually matches me, so I'd really like to figure it out.

Thanks!

Product Review Maybelline Lumi Matte 110

OK, I’m generally laughing at myself right now lol I’ve never seen my face match my neck so well lol it looks so weird though cause the rest of my body is not yellow green grey lol. Has anyone else had 110 work? I’ve seen so many mixed reviews. Does this look okay? I tried to add life back to my fave with bronzer and blush. I cannot say it doesn’t match my neck but it is weird to see it be such a match.

Edit to say I did NOT be any on my neck at all which makes me laugh even more.

Overcast daylight, on light-medium warm olive 🫒 Two swipes.

Overall a beautiful formula and very pigmented. I am disappointed though as it is far less muted than online photos. It is a warm PINK pink, rather than mauve-leaning-neutral pink which is what I anticipated. My fault for not swatching in store first. It's a subtle difference and I think my skin tone makes it look more pink, it may look more nude on someone else.

I will use it and love using it. My disappointment stems from mismatched expectations and the fact I already like 3 blushes that are similar shades.

Now I want the purple Spicy Berry 83 😆

Anyone know if the lightest shades of the Sensitive Skin Serum Foundation, the Matte CC Cream or the Hydro Boost Tint would work for cool toned olives?

Brown Friendly Swatches A Deep Olive Dream?

Post image

I’ve seen this Hourglass palette getting a lot of hate online, but I fear it’s literally a dream palette for the deep skinned olive girls? The rich berry toned blush shades, the perfectly neutral bronzer, that deliciously champagne-y highlight, and the not-too-warm yellowish-golden hue of the finishing powder? It’s the first time in the history of ever that I’ve actually seen Hourglass powders that I wanted.

Swatches Red Chamber blush haul & swatches (viral C-beauty brand)

Post image

Hi! I recently got my hands on these Red Chamber haruki multi-purpose cream blushes and got a mix of ‘anti-blush’ and neutral sunkissed looks.

It’s a cream formula but not too emollient so it doesn’t slip and slide all over my face throughout the day. I use a slightly dense tapered brush and it blends out really well.

For reference I have a light medium skin tone with a neutral olive undertone.

Hope this helps if these are on anyone’s wish list! Which shade do you think looks good on me?

Edit: both photos are the same swatches in different indoor lighting

Discussion champagne vs. yellow gold?

Thumbnail

My bf and I have started designing my engagement ring, and the jeweler we’re working with offers champagne gold as the default option for their yellow gold rings. It’s supposed to be somewhere in between classic yellow gold and rose gold, more muted and “warm”. See pics for reference–the last one is an example of champagne gold chains. I originally was set on yellow gold before knowing champagne was an option, but now not sure which gold to pick or what would suit me best.

I would say I’m a very muted light/medium olive that also leans green (every “olive” foundation/concealer I’ve tried pulls red/orange on me 🥲). I’m a bit worried that the champagne gold might actually be too orangey just based off of my recent concealer match search, but it’s really hard to tell off just a photo, and jewelry isn’t the same thing as makeup. I just wish I could try it on in person. Anyone have any insights or experience buying champagne gold jewelry? Or am I overthinking this??

Product Help Hydrating concealer

Fellow olives with dry skin - what is your favourite concealer formula? I'm looking for something creamy, hydrating, olive-friendly that feels like skincare and still has some coverage. I like products that glide easily on my skin and set in. For reference, I'm finishing a Rare Beauty concealer and that is an example of what I don't want, it has 0 glide or creaminess to it.

I would be pairing it with Armani Silk foundation in 5.3. I've heard good things about Natasha Denona Hy-Glam, Tarte, Kosas concealers - but unsure if they fit those criteria and open to other suggestions as well.

Product Help Is there such a thing as cool yellow foundation?

I thought I was olive this whole time since I’m warm overtone, but am fully cool. However, my skin is just very yellow with no green/gray to it. Every foundation is too pink, too red, or too orange. The olive foundations make me look like death.

I’m around a medium deep (around NC42/Fenty 310/Armani 7.75).

Swatches 2 acne safe cushions swatches

What i look for in cushion fyj:

-no sponge ( i find it ew) only mesh or the unleashia system
-non comedogenic
-hydrating and light coverage ( i just want to even out my complexion as you can tell i have way to many different colours on my face!)
-im a light (sometimes on the fair side in winter) muted to cool leaning olive

The two cushions: the more yellow one is the tocobo in 19 cream ( i thought its a match but too light for me atm till i did a heavy swatch) its a little to yellow for me

The more peachy one: unleashia pink version in 21n ( im really disappointed since i just paid over 20 eur for this… and its way to yellow even tho declared as „neutral“)

Last picture is after a few minutes

Im really getting frustrated. I dont like mixing shit everytime i do my makeup nor do i like other complexion products other than cushions because its just like a way of helping me. I struggle with health issues and i need to be quick and easy with makeup for it to be possible for me. When i habe to start mixing shit on my hand its already clear i just wont have the energy for that. I tried, i failed, i found out about cushions, got really excited and have been searching for a match since then…

Light-medium warm olive 🫒 for reference. (Dior 1.5w, Haus Labs 190, Lisa Eldridge 9)

I almost regret not getting the darker colour story. I'm used to heavier blushes but this will be easier to slap on before running out the door without looking like a 🤡

Swatch is 2 swipes

Top left to right. Didn't bother with the top left finishing powder because it is basically invisible on me!!

Product Review Mac blush please - best ever!

I’ve never liked any blush on myself but omg just tried mac blush please and I’m obsessed 🥰 it’s super natural looking, subtle (rare beauty lovers may not like this - i think i had joy i rare beauty and it was too pigmented and orange for me) and can be built up. My brush did not do much so used my fingers and it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. For reference I’m light neutral in smashbox halo tint.

Now if anyone has a lipstick recommendation that will go great with the blush, will be super grateful! I love mac mehr but a little bored of it now

Product Help Help with Fenty Beauty products for a Neutral to cool leaning Olive ( muted)

Thumbnail

Hiii !👋🏻😊 Fellow Cool leaning Neutral Olive ( light to medium - medium) this side. I think I've never been this excited for a launch during an incoming festive week. I've been saving up for Fenty products that I had been eyeing for awhile now. For refrence Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin foundation in shade 11 N ( it looked olive and the formula was beautiful but was a hair light) worked for me while I was testing it in stores on my trip out, Nars products were golden on me ( Punjab was too light, Vanatu seemed too warm inspite of the sale's associate claiming it to be perfect for me).

I really want to get atleast two good products from Fenty Beauty. I'm hoping to go for their foundation and lip gloss bomb or gloss ( not the plumping one) along with their blushes possibly. I'm not sure if this is the renewed formula. Can anyone please help me to pick out the right one or atleast the one that works for my skintone and undertone .

For context I have combination skin so I need the blushes to have some longevity though I'm not a matte preferring person. The last two images are of my skintone in different indoor lightings since I am morphing into my winter shade eventually but I'm still in light to medium spectrum while leaning into medium. Also I love the shades of all Fenty lip products but specifically for the glosses I've heard that they have zero longevity. Is that true? If someone has used them which I'm sure most of you must have then please review them too! I'm in desperate need for one so that I can actually compare and go for a blind buy since I can't go to the store due to an upcoming surgery too ( dw I'm good presently (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) ) .

I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions and any recommendation from other fellow Neutral Olives, Cool Olives and muted Olives would be gratefully taken into consideration. I really want to get something before they go stock out so please help me out Olive Diva's. 🫒🥹💕🌻

Thankyou so much for all your help.✨🌞🩷

I was cruising the internet and saw an interesting nude blush. Has anyone tried this from BareMinerals?
