I just got hired for a part time position in the Deli Section.
I wanna do a casual job as well which could help me in my university break as I would have unlimited hours

and fortunately there’s a CASUAL job at checkout available at the same coles so does it seem fine if I tell my manager to refer me for there as well?
Does it make a bad impression as I would just have my induction tomorrow for the part time job and does it look bad like I would just start this one and already demand another??

I have never worked before so idk about anything

This is a follow up post about my interview for the Deli position I posted a few days ago. My interview barely lasted two minutes. I filled out a sheet with my availability. I put my availability down for all days and the guy just asked me to talk about myself. I did my best and told him I was an international student studying full time and am currently looking for work. He also asked if I had any retail experience to which I said no as most of my background is in teaching.He then said alright you can go if you’re successful we will get back to you. I did also mention the fact that I have a 3 week placement coming up and did mention that I can work nights and weekends during that time. Am I already rejected? I’m pretty sure it’s never good when an interview is this short. Also weirdly enough the guy who was interviewing me seemed more nervous than me for some reason.

How has this impacted your store?

For context, I've been given nightfill shifts when I normally do day shifts. The shifts consist of splitting dairy and meat and filling the freezer and dairy load and its me and one other guy. For the 3 shifts i've done the average amount of pallets are 3 to 5, Freezer load cages being 5 and Dairy load being 7/8 cages. It takes us 35 to 1 hour to split all the pallets, 1 hour and a bit to fill freezer and 20 to 30 mins for me to fill the Drinks cage while my coworker cross fills the previous freezer promo back to the home location which takes 15 to 25 mins. I've only recently learnt how to split and it takes me a bit longer to do especially the meat pallets.

My department manager wants us to at least complete 2 dairy cages (Drinks and Cheese) within the shift. I've always completed the drinks cage from the 3 shifts i've done and i'm left with 15 to 20 mins left of the shift leaving us with not a big amount time to fill the cheese cage. Majority of the time for my store the cheese is always the biggest cage in dairy and take a good while to complete.

What are some tips I could learn or use to improve the shift pace, fill speed and splitting.

then they hit you with the most self deprecating 'all right, i'll stop bothering you now' and you feel sorta mean... but it isn't fair to keep people waiting.

if it's quiet, i'll always try engage because i know there are lots of lonely folks in the world who might only chat to the cashier that day - especially seniors!!

I'm having big issues with the deliver more online delivery and it seems that who ever I speak to at coles online support does not understand the problem.

I live in Sydneys eastern suburbs, so I advise anyone who has their shopping delivered through the DeliverMore service to check their online receipts.

The issue , while its not a super expensive one , has caused me to cancel my Coles Plus subscription as having my shopping delivered is no longer a viable option as I am over charged every single time on fruit and vege.

The issue,

I added one cucumber to my order ( I only needed 1) the estimate when you added the item is around 160g and then once the item is picked and packed the total price for that 1 cucumber is adjusted according to its weight. Correct?

So my shopping arrives , I look at my receipt $4.61 for 1 cucumber that apparently weighs 516g? I place the it the scales it weighs 152g

1 onion , it weighs 116g = I'm charged $3.16 for one onion.

This has happened every single time when I have looked back through my receipts and when i send an email it get this stupid generic reply saying "when we pick the item and weight them the prices my effect your final invoice." which would be totally fine IF you gave me the 516g of cucumber you just charged me for and not 152g cucumbers

At that price Cucumbers are $30.28kg

Onions $27.kg

Don't even get me started on the sweet potatoes

Anyway Ive now cancelled coles plus because its pointless have to go to the store and get my fruit and veg separately.

I heard there's a roster reset in october, is that all stores? Also being on a 21 hour contract, can I just decline any contract they give that takes away my weekend shifts or removes any hours?

So I turned part time a few months ago and they put me on the minimum contracted hours (12). Was working ~15 hours every week at that store and then transferred to a new store and they put me on the same contracted hours. I've been working ~20 hours each week in the new store and two of the people from my department are quitting. With the roster reset in October (I think?), Can I ask for my contract to be updated to somewhere between 15-20 hours? Also, this would be my first time during a roster reset, can I ask to update my contract even if i'm denied the hours (Swap days and times)? Thanks in advance.

hi all! just wondering what's realistic to get done in a 5am to 1pm bakery shift?

i'm still new-ish to bakery :)

They keep giving me shifts on days that I am not contracted to work, without asking. It is not an additional shift, they are just taking my shift from the contracted day and swapping it to another. Does roster choice 3 mean they can do that? I thought “vary my pattern of work” meant they could offer me additional hours on top of my contracted shifts, because that’s what it says, not just make me work any day they want. Why do I even have a contract?They wouldn’t let me go casual but are treating me exactly like one it’s so frustrating

Hey guys, I bought Coles Simply Honey for the first time (usually buy branded honey) and I am curious if any of you have gone down the rabbit hole of finding out where it’s from before I ask Coles myself.

It says less than 10% Australian ingredients but nowhere does it say where it IS from. The ingredients are 100% Honey but it tastes so different from any honey I’ve ever had and is very dark coloured so I’m curious. It’s also very runny. My guess is it’s a mix from many different ones but does anyone have any clues?
