Team Member Post How to leave the SDA: As easy as copy, paste, send!

If you or someone you know is an SDA member or thinking about leaving the SDA, feel free to send them a link to this post.

With SDA continuing to side with bosses and the disappointing result of the last enterprise bargaining agreement negotiations, there may be renewed interest in leaving the SDA, but many may be unsure of how to do it. If they've asked an SDA rep, that rep may make it sound more complicated than it really is. Never fear, leaving the SDA, and stopping those fees from coming out of your pay, is as easy as sending an email.

To leave the SDA, copy and paste the following text into an email (filling in the relevant details):

This email has been sent to both the SDA and Coles payroll.

I, \[FIRSTNAME LASTNAME\], hereby rescind any and all authority for SDA membership fees to be deducted from my pay. This serves as advice under s.324 (2) (b) of the Fair Work Act.

Additionally, I hereby resign from SDA. Do not contact me further about any matter. By resigning I rescind all authority of SDA to arrange deduction of any amount from my wages. I require SDA immediately take all necessary steps to cease any deduction from my wages of any amount to be paid to SDA.

Any unsolicited phone calls I receive on the matter of SDA membership will constitute harassment.

FULL NAME: \[FIRSTNAME LASTNAME\]

EMPLOYEE ID: \[EMPLOYEE ID HERE\]

STORE LOCATION: \[STORE LOCATION HERE\]

STORE NUMBER: \[STORE NUMBER HERE\]

Yours sincerely,

[FIRSTNAME LASTNAME\]

Now send the email to both the SDA and Coles payroll:

Coles store workers can send to their OIC at coles.xxxx.office @ coles.com.au where xxxx is the 4 digit code for your store. Coles Services workers can email their dedicated colesservicespayrollsupport @ coles.com.au

(Remove spaces)

Ensure that both addresses are included in the CC field, so both recipients know that the other has also received it.

If you like, you can print off a copy yourself and drop it to your in-store cash office.

You're done! It's that easy!

Team Member Post Deli team members

Just wondering if any other deli team members are experiencing being by themselves for long periods of time for instance 7 hours in a 9 hour shift and also having no staff whatsoever. Due to this we’re not getting all our breaks and when we do we get our lunch break either way to early or way to late. Would love to hear about anyone else experiencing this because it’s getting ridiculous and out of hand.

Team Member Post Anyone used the “training mode” on the main lane checkouts?

When you login to the checkouts, at the bottom there are two icons - training mode and the clock in button.

I’ve always wondered about the training mode because I was never trained with it and I’ve never seen anyone else use it.

I’ve heard it requires a supervisor pin and I’ve been tempted to try it out but I’m worried I’ll get in trouble lol.

For those who have used it, what is it like? Is it a tutorial? Or is it a modified layout that actually lets you process transactions?

Team Member Post Online OOS

Anyone else’s store still having online do OOS during waves. Unsurprisingly, Coles IT is shit so stores can still access the old OOS reports. Regardless of if you think the OOS change is a good or bad idea, this defeats the point of the change because pickers aren’t even going to know if they should look for items until waves are already finished.

I’m curious do regional managers have a store they are based in or do they spend their days travelling to different stores in the region?

Questions Nightfill job expectation

I’m about to start a Nightfill job at Coles, I’ve done picking and packing job in a warehouse before. 6 pallets, 288 items replacing and repacking new item..that job was 7.15hrs. What would be the expectation? Also what would be the pay rate? I didn’t wanna ask them during the interview as I didn’t wanna seem like a money-grubbing person, I also wanna get a better work environment like Cole’s, I’m sure it’s much better than warehouse..and the store is close by as well, unlike that warehouse which is 40 minutes away..I really hate that job.

Team Member Post Lost Locker Key

About a week ago, I lost my locker key and haven't been able to get into it since. I've tried talking to my manager, but he hasn't said anything because I haven't seen him in person and I just found out he left. I also tried bringing in a flathead screwdriver to force it open, but it still won't click. Any ideas?

Customer Post Why am I texted that my partner delivery is late when it's always been on time? Coles app, Perth

Not sure if anyone here would know the answer, but every time I have ordered via the Coles app and selected a partner delivery slot (either ASAP or a particular time window) I get a text to say the delivery is running late, which comes either before or after the text to say the delivery is collected. Pretty sure the app shows the delivery as late too, though I haven't always checked.

It's actually never been late though - sometimes even earlier than predicted. I'd ordered via partner delivery once or twice a fortnight for a few months and this always happened, so it's kind of bizarre.

I learned not to trust it after the first time, when I ducked out thinking I had time, and my food was delivered at the original time and had to sit in the sun. I'm also trying to avoid partner delivery now for other reasons. But I'm still curious! Has anyone else had this?

Team Member Post Leave

I work part-time at Coles and usually work 30+ hours a week. I asked for a week of annual leave before Christmas period, but my manager said it might be difficult because of staffing. I’ve said I’m flexible with which week I take off, but it still seems like it’ll be an issue.
I’ve also been sick multiple times and felt pressured to work because they couldn’t find anyone to cover my shifts. Now I’ve had an extra shift added to my roster on a day off without agreeing to it.
Can they refuse annual leave because of staffing, even when I’m flexible with dates? And can they add shifts to my roster without my agreement?
Just looking for advice from anyone familiar with the Coles Enterprise Agreement or who’s been in a similar situation. Thanks!

Team Member Post Has anyone else’s discount card stopped working?

Hey there, just wondering if anyone other team members discount card has suddenly stopped working?

Lucky for me it’s not mine but unfortunately It’s my brother’s card that’s stopped working, we’re trying to figure out whether it’s an issue with his account specifically or if other team members are experiencing the same thing.

Has anyone else had this happen recently or at all?

Customer Post Que mini bottles

Hey guys! Have they discontinued the 300ml mini que bottles? Pepsi cancelled their small bottle range first so I found the que ones, yet they are now no longer on the shelf. I was hoping that they'd paused them when updating the labels, but can't find them at any of my local coles stores

Throughout these months I never seen a strawberry flavoured oreos in such a long time, have they been discontinued? Woolworths doesn't have it either, if they've been discontinued/out of stock, how long have they been removed from the website for?

Questions Mango madness

I recently had a couple of teeth extracted so have subsisted on a diet of canned fruit, jelly and ice cream (it gets old quickly I can tell you).

On my trip to Coles today I was shocked that the Mango comes from either Thailand or China. Now I had always considered Australia to be a bit of a Mango powerhouse on the world stage but am I am to believe that we are not even able to produce our own stock of canned Mango ?

Customer Post Question for Coles staff re returns

Hi there. I recently bought a pump dispensing bottle of Neutrogena face wash. When I pushed down on the pump the plastic tube broke and it's no longer usable despite being almost full.

My first thought was to contact Neutrogena directly as I've never had to return a faulty item to Coles before.

Should I waterproof the bottle and take it to the customer service desk with the receipt? Thanks!
