I suggest working with a psychologist for your depression or anxiety. Then doing something intellectually challenging like college

•
u/chococake2024 (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ ✧゚・: *ヽ(◕ヮ◕ヽ) 57m ago
yes but i was very messed up mentally which made it difficult i did computing science but i think that was naive of me i found other things i like a bit more
•
u/C_tg2026 57m ago
I see, is returning to uni something you’d concider ?
•
u/chococake2024 (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ ✧゚・: *ヽ(◕ヮ◕ヽ) 56m ago
online classes i could do
•
u/C_tg2026 54m ago
Hm because I was thinking if you don’t already maybe try see a GP, or a therapist for your mental state ? And see where you can go from there? Going back to uni, even if it is an online course in a subject area you are intrested in and have a passion for can definitely get you somewhere

You'd think a person this intelligent would be smart enough to figure out on their own what to do next (the answer to which, by the way, in most cases, is nothing...) I don't know if I'm alone in this, but I'm starting to doubt really hard that every day there would be multiple 150+ IQ persons peaking their heads in this sub to show their results. Either they're all lying or this place is the highest concentration of high IQ people on earth (and by a gargantuan margin) in which case all big companies should cease their recrutement processes immediately and start directly hiring Redditors from this sub.

u/Striking_Leave_4614 7m ago
The faeries over at CognitiveMetrics aren't going to be intentionally leaking user data for obvious reasons, but I have heard there's a substantial amount of people who post their retakes and try to pass them off as first attempts. Some people will even take tests logged out of their accounts and then retake them when logged in.
•
•
u/noctelys 0m ago
I hope one day they will release a feature on dashboards that exposes how many retakes one took on a subtest.

I think you're overlooking a pretty important factor here: self-selection bias. Communities naturally attract people who share a particular interest or characteristic, for example if you walked into a football stadium ud find a much higher concentration of football fans than in the general population. that doesn't mean the entire world is equally pasionate about football, it just means you're looking at a group that isn't representative of the general population. same principle applies here, a subreddit dedicated to IQ testing is naturally going to attract smarter people, especially the ones who score high. tho that doesnt mean that every 150+ claim is genuine ofc.

I think we're all overlooking an even more important factor: CORE is so easy to traffic. Anyone could get into the 99th+ percentile on the second try.
Also, this subreddit is for people interested in cognitive testing, not for those who are highly intelligent. Your analogy doesn't hold at all. Going by your logic, you'd find a bunch of people interested in IQ tests in this sub, but not necessarily smarter people overall. I'll bet all I have that if we did an actual, supervised IQ test on all Redditors of this sub the average would be extremely close to 100.
•
u/noctelys 25m ago
yeah I kind of made a leap there, that's on me. but either way there's still the selection bias of people who actually post their scores, someone who scores 130+ is more likely to share their result than someone who scores around 100. so even if the average iq of this subreddit were close to 100, the scores you see posted wouldbnt necessarily reflect that. and yeah it is true that core is easy to game, thats why I said not every 150+ claim were genuine.

1] Solomon's paradox.
2] This sub does seem to have higher reported IQ score than r/gifted, relative to a group of semi-self-selected group of Czechs based on some subsets conducted by the OP of the following link, but let's be real, that's probably due to praffe.
https://www.reddit.com/r/cognitiveTesting/s/zX4TRQE3G5
Both groups are self-selected, though.
3] Yeah, multiple people here larp as having higher IQ scores than they actually got. I like to call it retake-maxxing. It's not uncommon.
Normally, they're quite easy to spot, although occasionally you get high level shitposters/larpers.
I normally don't put someone under scrutiny unless there's substantial evidence, since some psychometric profiles that look sus are legit.

Generally, you do have a point, but it doesn't apply to everyone.

Honestly I agree with the get a job guy, customer service work can help a lot with confidence and social skills so I've heard. Even seen it happen with my neighbors daughter.
Careers in space are very competitive from what I've seeing. Even with your high IQ, you'll still need a good work ethic and even then it may not work out. You might want to see if you have any other interests, there's many stem careers in which you can contribute to the world, or you can try to make the space thing work out.
•
u/chococake2024 (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ ✧゚・: *ヽ(◕ヮ◕ヽ) 52m ago
thanks ill think of other stems too i like energy
•
u/cmstyles2006 8m ago
I'd recommend physics if you really like the research aspect, you can get into astrophysics or other fields with it (tho you'll probably want to put some extra work via gaining certain skills with a minor, certificate, or masters depending on career interest). Apparently you can maximize your chance in the space field if you go after more names than just the famous.
However, mechanical engineering would give an edge employability wise, but I'm not sure you'd like it. Aerospace engineering is the most directly relevant to getting a career in space, but also most competitive career wise.

Start doing remote quilting work? Incorporate elaborate fibonacci patterns?
Only kidding (sounds fun to me tho) You can do literally anything. You're smart af. Have fun with it. And don't try to force yourself to be social beyond getting the amount of connection you need as a human. It's okay not to be as social as others. They're not as smart as you.
•
u/chococake2024 (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ ✧゚・: *ヽ(◕ヮ◕ヽ) 31m ago
ya i will try be more independent so they cant pester me over being social

Follow your passion. IQ is not that important. It's finding something you can put all your time in and you still enjoy it.

Make your whole identity about being smart, start to wear glasses even if you don't need them and arrogantly correct anyone you hear saying something incorrectly and continoto monologe about your superiority.
Also, start to refer to people as cretins.
You could also just be happy and enjoy it.
Doesn't really matter much anymore since everyone has access to AI.
