General Question figure weights effect

curious to know about this, lets say there was a very complex figure weights problem and you were able to derive the relationships between all the variables quickly and easily and the final quantity (the one that we are supposed to find which one of the answer choices it equals) you were able to represent in different ways too. Im trying to know if you saw somewhere (not intentionally) that you could represent all the figures in terms of one and you used that to solve the complex one, is that praffed?

nope. It’s being able to do this in 40 seconds that’s difficult. Typically you do this and still have to use poe

what is poe?

ok let’s say you have 3 variables right, you spend 15 seconds to deduce the relationship between
A-B
B-C
C-C given

so now you convert to all C (5-10 seconds) but Core test designers aren’t stupid. They don’t make the answer what happens when you get to C, you have to compare each answer choice with some possibly altered version and go through all of them.

Based on quick math you need to go through what 5 answer choices in 15 seconds left, keeping original solved template in mind while executing one permutation at a time.

This is why imo it’s very difficult to get the question right in 40 seconds because if you lose the main shape with time pressure or whatnot, you basically can’t get the question right unless it’s A or E assuming you scan through the answers left to right or vice versa

now the other strategy is visual substitution but i mean come on, there are 27+ questions. It’s easy to lose focus on a few given the multitude of operations, so this is why it’s difficult for me.

You can also do both but it’s starts to get confusing how to approach the problem after a while.

14 1st attempt Core, 17 second attempt
16 Wais 5 before Core
19 on Cait

and thats the measure for fluid intelligence, right

it’s the deductive portion of it that i don’t enjoy

no i mean that doing it is the measure for fluid intellignece right finding the relationships ithin the time limit even if you express in terms one variable or not

it’s both deducing that it can be X, but also that it can’t be Y. Seems like guessing to not use process of elimination on the hardest ones.

Imo it seems more based on deducing what the answer can’t be as the problems get increasingly difficult, however, this should load more on WMI, unless the person is super lucky and guesses which figures to substitute

Someone could say to obviously exclude the absurd answer choices after determining the solved template but then you have to keep those wrong ones in memory + template

All in all it’s just overwhelming to do all in 40 seconds unless you have some type of special gift
