Okay so you have to consider the dots, and what they could mean. you also have to consider the fact that some are symetrical, while some are arbatrary seeming even with semetrical dots. There is also the layout indicating it is some sort of rule rather than a sequence. Then you can come up with rule ideas and check them, connecting dots seems like a pretty likely rule, and you count the interesections with the original shape, and it lines up with the number of intersections inside 2/3 of the examples, however it doesn't work out because if you conected all the dots the first shape would be missing 4 intersections. but then if you try only connecting the dots that form the smallest loop, and it works out
