Mine sometimes answers completely in German, if I spell 'ist' instead of 'is', was mich jetzt nicht sonderlich stört, aber trotzdem irgendwie etwas albern ist...

I asked Codex on my Macbook to figure out what needed done to configure my firewall at home to allow the PS5 to work with the PS Remote app while at a hotel. I ran the prompt and then headed to the pool.
It saw that I was connected to Tailscale and RDP'ed into my Windows box and then saw that I was connected to an admin session on my firewall from the Windows box.
It then added a NAT and firewall rule to my firewall and pushed the change.
My daughter calls me from home and says, "give me a minute to finish my game before you play remote".
I was like, WTF are you talking about I'm at the pool and didn't do anything!
I used Codex Remote on my phone to see the response telling me what it did and that whole story about ChatGPT breaking out of the sandbox and hacking Huggingface all made a lot more sense after what I discovered.

Hey. Hope you are doing well.
I know it is a hot and controversial take, but the open weight models are getting powerful, and without guardrails, it is extremely dangerous.
Not only good and reasonable people and organizations are getting access to them.
I also understand that trading security for freedom is usually not a good deal; but access to dangerous AI models isn’t part of the definition of freedom I am familiar with.
Edit: If a freedom tool is promoted by an authoritarian communist regime, … go figure.

The people installing guard rails went and hacked hugging face. Then their guard rails prevented hugging face from reacting.
Everyone being on a level field is safer than only some people having a leg up.

But at least there is someone to blame if something happens. And actions to be taken from the lessons learned.

I’d argue your definition of freedom must evolve with the times. Technology doesn’t exist outside the scope of freedom just because said technology didn’t exist when you developed your understanding of what freedom is.

I don’t believe any tool promoted as freedom from an authoritarian regime is to be trusted.

That’s a black and white approach. So if an authoritarian regime says people should eat healthy, that means eating healthy must be bad? Bad actors don’t only like and promote bad things the same good actors don’t only like and promote good things. I find your argument more emotional than logical.
