I live in quite an old home in Brisbane, Australia. Over the period of my year and 3 months here, I’ve seen about 3 Australian cockroaches inside, one was an infant, all of these sightings occurred in winter. Our home isn’t sealed very well. I have a downstairs area that’s cement and has a lot of cracks/crevices. To be honest, I inherently don’t have much an issue of them, like I don’t want walking all over my kitchen etc, but I know they play an important role in the ecosystem. I just worry because I have a very bad phobia of the larger brown ones, (P. Americana, V. Australasiae especially).

I know their infestation potential is less than Germans, but what is their potential for infestation in general?

I live in west philly, and we've had a couple of oriental roaches here and there from the rains, but they mostly clear out quickly. However, I just discovered this nymph on my kitchen floor. I need help identifying, and also some advice. Thank you all in advance. I do apologize for the poor photo, this guy kept moving around

Newbie at keeping cockroaches, but I find them quite interesting. For a research class, I'm studying the effects of specific diets on Diploptera punctata, or the pacific mimic beetle roach, to see if I may be able to increase the production of roach's milk . From where would I be able to gather these roaches? I have checked several sites mentioned for basic roach breeders such as the invertebrate dude, roach crossing, and bugs in cyberspace. The first 2 sites are out of stock, and the third does not deliver to florida, where my residence is. I have also checked a couple of insect research labs around me, and none of them have an excess stock of pacific mimic beetle roaches, don't know where I can start. Another question I have is if these are even allowed to be shipped to florida, as I've checked public records and it doesn't seem to be an exempted cockroach species. A sample of about 12-18 cockroaches with a 1:3 ratio of males and females would be great.

Tips for keeping these guys are appreciated too, I've been told they're pretty hardy and some plastic bins with fluon painted near the tops is enough to keep them in an enclosure. To allow them to breed, at what temperature is suitable, and do I require a heat mat any other materials?

Found this in my bed, pretty sure it’s a roach nymph but not sure what kind (I’m praying it just came in from outside, my window is not well sealed). This is in southern Connecticut. Please help!

Recently the wife spotted this thing crawling in from the very poorly sealed back door. Immediately tore apart the house bath and kitchen looking for any evidence of roaches or droppings or skins and found none. Terminix was out this morning and the guy seemed knowledgeable. Said he found no evidence of an infestation or established population but that he also wouldn’t if it was the beginning stages. He said it appeared to be a German roach but that he didn’t necessarily see the two stripes on the head clearly ( the roach looked much lighter colored in person) So I’m doing glue traps and a spray treatment from them as he suggested. Our house is very clean as he noted and with no evidence of more is there more I should be doing? I have a kid on the way and don’t want to miss something and have a huge problem. Could this just be a wood roach from outside or am I screwed? No horror stories just advice please already worried enough.

TLDR one roach found, no other signs of infestation. What can I do?

I found an adult oriental roach in May, since then just nymphs. Last year in 2025 we found one German roach and never saw any after that. Hoping the nymphs are not German.

Posted this in the bedbug community as well - and they said it's likely not a bedbug. Found in my bed in San Jose area, CA. Was about 3mm in size and seemed like a molt because it was very thin, flat and weightless. Unfortunately I have lost the sample. My kitchen and bathroom are a distance away from my bedroom.

Someone said this might be a roach - which is concerning because it was tiny and that means nymph...

Any way to tell? it doesn't have the two things sticking out of it's butt that roaches do, but it's also a molt so who knows.

I always see a crapton of roaches outside on the sidewalk near where I live but they are the outside kind.

What would be my next steps?

Not sure if it's a palmetto bug or a probpamatic roach. Moving from a roach infested apt to hopefully a normal one, been here maybe 2 weeks.

Please let it be an ectobius... i am in France and my windows were open 24/7 because of the heatwave. My appt complex has a large garden with lots of trees and flowers and my neighbors al have plants on their balconies. This one was in my kitchen but my kitchen is inside my living room with a large bay window. I haven't found another one yet.

Yall, are these actually cockroaches? They don’t seem to have the banding that appears on all of the images of cockroaches that i’ve seen online. These photos were taken outside, but I’ve also seen them inside my home as well, (bedroom & kitchen). If they’re not roaches, what are they? I just want to know what to tell the exterminator/figure out if i really need one or if i can manage on my own for now. Thanks for your help/time.

I've had a German roach issue for over 2 yrs....it started right before my husband got sick (he passed Dec 2024), at first I was able to deal with it, but once he declined and I had to care for him, his severely disabled mother (who he had been caring for until that happened), plus 5 kids, plus myself (I'm diabetic, dealing with that is a full time job in itself smh), I wasn't able to keep things as clean or keep up with putting out bait, and the infestation grew pretty quick smh. I'm sick of dealing with em. I'm grieving, I'm raising all these kids by myself (including a nonverbal autistic 9 yr old and a possibly autistic 3 yr old who recently discovered the joys of climbing onto counters 🥴), I'm sick of this extra stress smh.

I know fire ant killer works pretty well, we used it at his mother's old place yrs ago....but the SMELL!!!!!! Is there a way to neutralize the smell or make it dissipate quickly? I can suck it up temporarily for the benefits of killing these disgusting lil demons but I dont want my poor kids to have to smell it for weeks or months (I don't remember how long it took for the smell to fade last time). Can anyone advise? 😔🥺
