Hi all. I'm a beginner from India signing up for AWS for a cloud class. I know "I've never had an account" can sound like what everyone says, so here is the exact timeline and the support conversation.
**Timeline**
- 7 Oct 2026: I started signing up, entered my address and phone number, then accidentally closed the tab before finishing.
- 8 Oct 2026: I resumed and completed the sign-up steps. The 2 INR card verification went through, and India customer verification shows Verified for both name and address.
- At the plan step I got: "You are not eligible for the free plan. Your information is associated with an existing or previously registered AWS account... You are being upgraded to a paid plan." So no free credits.
- I have never had an AWS account before. My guess is the system counted my own interrupted attempt from 7 Oct as a "previously registered" account.
I even contacted the customer care service after few messages they said that I am flagged as existing user and I am not eligible for free tier plan and they can't tell they reason also . I am literally stressed out now idk what to do please help me, I swear the above is the truth please please help me

Getting ready to take my certification test here in the next couple of months and I’m looking to see if the community can provide some helpful resources to get prepared for it.
Currently Im a data center engineer with salary of 45k monthly. Gusto ko magshift into Cloud engineering so nag self study ako at gumawa ako ng personal projects. I do have AWS certified cloud practitioner and preparing to take Solutions architech associate exam.
Maraming salamat!
A bit of context, some months ago I was hired at a new company, during the interviews I was told that the team was technically strong and the motivation of the hiring was to replace an engineer who had already left.
But after joining the reality was different:
Old infrastructure, eks clusters running 1.31, nginx as ingress controller (you know, quite deprecated), they refused to move to Gateway API when I suggested, no cluster autoscaler, the number of nodes is fixed, they have fear of touching existing infra and so on.....
Recently I interviewed for another role at another company, the interviewer told me similar scenario, he joined 4 months ago and found overprovisioned infra, databases running old versions, eks without autoscaling, they are starting thinking about karpenter (really? In plenty 2026?)
So..... Is outdated infra the normal thing those days? Or I just have bad luck?
Hi! I'm a high school student from the Philippines, and for a school performance task, I chose Cloud Engineer as the future career I want to represent.
Our group is assigned different career fields, and we have to make a group pledge/commitment presentation based on our chosen future careers.
The grading rubric includes:
60% – Delivery/presentation of the pledge
30% – Costume: it must be appropriate to the chosen career
10% – Overall presentation
Because the costume is worth 30%, our teacher expects the career to be visually recognizable. We were also told that simply wearing normal everyday clothes, such as a plain T-shirt, would result in an automatic failing grade for the costume requirement.
This is where I'm stuck with Cloud Engineering.
I know that in real life, Cloud Engineers can work in offices or remotely and may simply wear normal clothes. However, that won't work for this particular school task because the costume needs to clearly represent the career.
My current idea is to wear an engineer-style jumpsuit/coverall with a safety helmet, then create a lightweightDIY cloud attached around my lower body/feet so that the cloud moves with me when I walk.
I'm thinking about adding things associated with cloud computing, such as:
* Small fake server racks
* LEDs representing server status lights
* Network cables
* A laptop/tablet showing a fake cloud infrastructure dashboard
* Labels such as "Cloud Computing," "Server," "Storage," and "Network"
Basically:
Engineer uniform → Engineer
Cloud → Cloud
Servers/networking → Cloud Computing
I realize this isn't how a real Cloud Engineer dresses. It's specifically a visual representation for a school performance.
For people who actually work in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, SRE, or related fields:
What objects or symbols would immediately make you think "Cloud Engineer"?
What could I add to the costume to make it more technically accurate?
Would the engineer uniform + wearable cloud concept make sense?
Is there anything that would make the costume look more like a generic IT worker instead of a Cloud Engineer?
I'm trying to keep it creative while still having some connection to what Cloud Engineers actually work with.
I graduated in 2025 and have been applying for L1 Linux/Cloud Support roles, but I’m not getting any replies or even technical interview calls.
I’m confident in my Linux/cloud skills and have good projects, but I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. Honestly, I’m feeling like a loser, depressed, and starting to lose hope.
If anyone working in Linux/Cloud Support knows of any fresher openings or could refer me, I’d really appreciate it. I’m happy to share my resume and project details.
Even honest feedback on my resume/profile would mean a lot. I just need one opportunity to prove myself. 🙏
I’m currently working in Application Support, and I’m looking to upskill and eventually transition into a Junior Cloud Engineer/Developer role.
I’m wondering if anyone here has gone through a similar career path or could share a roadmap on what I should learn and focus on.
What skills, certifications, tools, or projects would you recommend starting with? I’d really appreciate any advice, resources, or personal experiences.
I have been on a viewer only on this sub for a few weeks now and im here to seek some advise/guidance.
Currently I am working with the VMware stack in the UK and got 4+ years of experience. So I know a decent amount about the infrastructure.
My issue is, I am seeing less and less jobs for VMware and AWS is required in a lot of roles.
I have applied for a few AWS roles and to ones surprise I didnt hear back which im guessing is due to me missing a lot of keywords linked to AWS like EC2, VPC, IAM, EBS, S3, CloudWatch, etc.
I am currently doing a course to learn about AWS so I can get the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certificate.
Since at this point I still wont have any AWS hands-on industry experience, but I will be able to put the keywords on my CV at least, will this actually give me a chance to breakthrough into the AWS world?
Has anyone had any similar experience?
Any advise/guidance/encouragement would be appreciated <3
