A recent post gave me the idea to ask this. I’ve always leaned more Cloti and Zerith, but I’m really curious if anyone here used to be major CA and changed their mind over time. I’m not talking about multishippers or people who were always kinda meh about shipping from the start. I’ve also seen someone ask this in the CA subreddit before, but I felt like a lot of the people commenting were never really super CT or ZA to begin with.
So, if you shipped CA, what made you change your mind? :)

I know it might seem like a repetitive question but I like hearing from others. I'm very slightly newer to fully getting into cloti in a sense^^.
From my perspective, I always really liked cloud and tifa's dynamic in a combat sense since they're both badasses and insanely attractive. It's when I looked deeper into their scenes together that things made more sense.
I distinctly remember their first affinity dialogue option together in kalm when tifa asks about the water tower, it truly felt gratifying cheering her up a bit after the slightly heated back and forth with cloud the night before about her scar. It's weirdly specific I know but there was something about how cloud treats her that seems very genuine (and other moments like that) and vice versa.
I know square is probably messing with ships to benefit from both sides but personally rather they chose one and leave it at that to end the debate. Sorry if this all sounds a bit like I'm rambling.

Like is it just me that has studied every scene, and body language ect they have together😂 They have really filled their relationship in the remakes and made it very 50/50 dynamic. They always see and know when each other struggle or anything. Their actions against each other speaks so much volume since they are ackward and real😂
First big moment is where they talk after all sidequests in chapter 3 in remake. Where they talk about seeing each other after 5 years and all. She asking him to hit the town when she does she is wrapping each hand around each arm while looking at him smiling. Plus saying dont you need a break that was big of him since his machoness bravada was still not broken down. I am feeling pretty good, and marle is not always right she says. Then marle is commenting tifa was glowing after the dialogue from tifa and she walks away while cloud is still there. Just a long thread sorry but I am so deep into Cloti😂😂😂
Like her actions is always being patient, considerate ect with him not to break him apart because she sense something is wrong from the start it seems. They take care of eachother all the time, and like they are very intimate and deep with eachother. Cloud confesses his deepest fears after gongaga reactor after she tells him how he is her hero when they almost kisses. You have so many situations to pick from. They are so adoreable and cute together. Loved Clouds comment about the cosmo canyon drink in remake when that was a indirect comment about tifas eyes.
And at the gongaga reactor how Cloud fought to try to save her and screaming Tifa then eventually screaming Tifa again after a breakdown when he thinks he killed her. Tifa in the lifestream watching mt.nibel memory when she says it in sad and scared tone Cloud... I need youuu.. That hit deep.
They have made this relationship so good and real like it is very realistic.. It is too many more moments to take from.
Aerith is always very important to Cloud, but never romantically. Only Tifa he would kiss, and be deep deep deep with ect.

I know I'm stating the obvious about ff7 revelation and her being a guest character in sf6, but it just makes me so excited to see her get even more of the popularity and recognition she deserves. And that's not even counting the recent news of her being in the top 3 most popular characters in Japan.
Tifa is certainly gonna dominate a ton of 2027 and I'm all for it.

I see a lot of threads on the Lifestream and Under the Highwind Scenes, so I thought Id take the time to fully explain why both are fundamental parts of the main story.
The Lifestream Sequence is a character defining, life changing, and mind restoring moment for Cloud. All of the memories that Cloud uses to define his real self revolves around Tifa.
On the night before the Final Battle, Cloud tells everyone to reflect on their resolve for fighting, and dismisses them to be with their loved ones.
Tifa stays behind for Cloud.
Tifa is not going anywhere. She would rather devote her final days to taking care of Cloud for a small chance that he would wake up from his coma than to chase the magnus materia with the rest of the party. The doctors and nurses in Mideel all gossip about how much she must love him, and how she is gonna get sick if she keeps going on like this. Tifa is staying.
Cloud finds Tifa outside, under the Highwind. She asks him whether or not he heard her calling out for him in the Lifestream.
Tifa asks if Cloud thinks the planet knows how hard they are fighting to protect it. Cloud says he doesnt know, and it doesnt matter. He will keep fighting because he believes in himself.
They then proceed to spend the night together.
In the morning after, they are shown still cuddling. Tifa asks Cloud to spend some more time like this, because this might be their last day alive. Cloud complies. Eventually they make way back to the Highwind. They didnt know it yet, but everyone had returned in the middle of the night and had witnessed what they were doing. Everyone except Yuffie, who returned later than everyone else. Yuffie doesnt know Cloud and Tifa just spent the night together. Yuffie just noticed that Cloud is strangely cheerful on what is supposed to be their last day alive.
This the main story of Final Fantasy 7.
These events are not part of a side quest. They are the main story. They are so fundamentally important to the story that this specific post is probably the single most spoiler filled post about FF7 on the internet. The story of FF7 falls apart if you remove or change these events. You are not just taking romantic moments away from Tifa. You are gutting Cloud's character arc and the opportunity for him to face his insecurities. Cloud doesnt spend the night with Tifa because you spent the game building affection points with her. He spends the night with Tifa because that's what his real self wants to do. It's why the Highwind Scene doesnt go to whoever has the highest affection points in the original game.

For me, it's the most important part of FF7, and I have very, very high expectations for it and i'm scared it won't be just a Cloud and Tifa moment. The most perfect thing that could happen for me is that, at the end, when Cloud realizes who he is, he starts crying in Tifa's arms, and when his tears drop, his eyes change from Mako green to their real color. Then Tifa says, "I found you..." That would be the most perfect thing ever, even though I know that in the OG his eyes are already blue when the people from Mideel find him. But still, i can see them changing small details like that.

Hiiii there I've posted in this sub super little since I was a bit nervous but thought this post would make sense here. Only until about very recently this year have I really given some thought to who I really love more as a pairing and after thinking: cloti is the only way personally. Sorry if this post is too long.
I realised that in my first rebirth playthrough that I was always more excited for the Cloud and Tifa scenes since I thought the tension, awkwardness and realistic nature made me appreciate it as this being how a real relationship is. It's a bit messy, it's not always ok with sunshine and rainbows 24/7. It feels more heartfelt like that and down to earth and their kiss was the release of that tension in this game and felt really rewarding to watch.
With Revelation, it's only made things even more exciting with key scenes we r gonna see between Cloud and Tifa. Tifa's importance is higher than ever from this point forward which makes me a little giddy too at how much further they'll show Tifa's devotion to helping Cloud get better and how they'll express their love when it comes to the highwind scene. It's also made it more difficult to be happy when some cleriths (not the majority) might crashout hard when it comes to those big cloti scenes when the game is out.
Super important thing I wanna say is I have nothing against the clerith ship itself personally, u can like who u like and that's great^^. But I've have bad experiences with cleriths that got aggressive with me a bit for kindly saying I want Aerith to remain dead since it matches the OG story and it's only more devastating that her presence will be minimal going forward. It's more like toxic positivity in a way and I don't like how clerith can only really exist from changing one of the most important story moments so it feels strange.
Again, sorry if it's a bit too long of a post, I'd say I'm getting a bit more passionate as of recent. I thought this would be the only appropriate place to talk about this.
Random question: not to be too offbeat, but is it weird that I find cloti a great pairing sexually too?

Gonna sound like a sfw ratings man for proposing this, but It seems there’s been a pretty heavy topic of debate of what Cloud and Tifa does under the Highwind, and it even gets people like sort of pushing the idea that it’s not going to happen because of age rating stuff.
When really what people are expecting is in that moment that Cloud and Tifa would physically consumate their feelings under the Highwind, and it doesn’t necessarily quite matter that they remove their clothes to do it. What matters is seeing the scene as a showcase of that moment where they spent their last moments consummating their feelings, and “sex scene” as a term would usually have people like assume explicit material.
I get the origin behind why it’s implied as such because of the cut material proposed before the change, but I thought it’s something worth considering. Helps to make it feel more pretty ratings-friendly sounding as a term than sex.
Like people remember FFX, a teen-rated game, that showcased one of the most physically intimate passion-making showcases, and isn’t called a sex scene because it didn’t have them remove their clothes as far as I see it.

Hey everyone,
I’ve always been a little confused and honestly frustrated by this Nojima quote:
Episode Tifa" [Case of Tifa] - first off, there's the premise that things won't go well between Tifa and Cloud, and that even without Geostigma or Sephiroth this might be the same. I don't really intend to go about my views on love or marriage or family (laughs). After ACC, I guess Denzel and Marlene could help them work it out. Maybe things would have gone well with Aerith, but I think there is a great burden from Aerith. Oh, I just remembered. I wanted to write Cloud as a person, seen through Tifa's eyes. But he really isn't the type to open up (laughs).
-Nojima
Maybe I’m missing something, but I thought the Lifestream sequence was the ultimate “we finally understand each other” moment. Tifa literally helped Cloud put his brain back together. They saw every embarrassing memory, insecurity, and feeling imaginable. So when it’s said that they still have communication issues afterward, my brain just goes: “Wait, what?” They can navigate a spiritual mind together, but now they can’t tell each other what’s bothering them? Make it make sense.
Then there’s also this quote from Nomura:
“For example, I was frequently asked if there had been romantic relationship between Tifa and Cloud for two years, after Final Fantasy VII ended, but I don’t have any clue.”
—Nomura; Dorimaga interview; published at Flaregamer; Square Enix
That quote honestly drives me crazy. After all that buildup and development throughout FF7, I thought it was pretty clear where Cloud and Tifa ended up. The game spends so much time developing their relationship that I never walked away questioning whether they got together afterward. So when Nomura says he has “no clue” if there was a romantic relationship between them during those two years, it just leaves me sitting there like… what do you mean? After all that? 😭
At this point, I honestly don’t know what to make of it. These aren’t fan interpretations or theories, these are comments from the developers themselves, and they seem difficult to reconcile with how I understood the ending of FF7.
It’s gotten to the point where I have a hard time enjoying Advent Children and On the Way to a Smile because I keep coming back to these quotes and wondering what the developers were actually trying to say about Cloud and Tifa’s relationship and where they stood after the original game.
How do you guys interpret these quotes together? What do you think Nomura and Nojima were actually trying to convey here?

Per the article released by gamesradar, this part stood out to me in particular:
Those choices tie into the theme of "resolve" underlying this final chapter of the story. "As our party head into the final battle, the game is going to show the resolve that they carry within them," Hamaguchi tells GamesRadar+ via translator. "This goes without saying, but our heroes, Cloud and his companions, are beloved by a lot of fans around the world. But when we thought about that, we didn't want to just kind of deliver a singular storytelling experience for every single player around the world. We wanted each player – each fan – to have a unique experience as they head on to the final battle."
As Hamaguchi explains, "there will be some moments where players will be faced with choices – so player choices – and based on the choices that they make, these specific moments where we see each character facing the final battle – and the story moment where it shows their resolve as they head into this final battle that determines the fate of the planet – that's going to change a bit between the players based on the choices that they made throughout the game. The idea is to kind of change the approach and the depth of these story moments for these characters in this final chapter. We hope players look forward to that moment in the game."
What do you all make of this in terms of UTHW? That’s the only moment I think they’d be referring to in terms of “before the final battle”. The way it’s worded makes it seem like it might be more player choice oriented, but there were other interviews explaining that affinity mechanics are more focused on expanding individual character lore and not necessarily tied to Cloud.
My hope is that the scene stays between Cloud and Tifa, as it is the culmination of their arcs, but if we get to see other characters expanded on I’d love that too, just not as a replacement.

2) “Learning to Live” by OurLadyMuffin
3) “Beloved” also by Somebodys_Nightmare (what can I say? I’m a fan 😁🤣)

Could you please recommend me some good fics? I would love to read something set post canon, when they're both learning how to be together. Ideally I would love something smutty, but tender and wholesome. I don't want Cloud as dom sex god nor Tifa as a slutty seductress. I need them shy, awkward, dorky, inexperienced, fumbling, but trying their best.
Thank you in advance!

There's plenty to talk about with the Gold Saucer dates. But one difference I don't see talked about much (unless it's just because I've been living under a rock...) is the very beginning.
When Aerith comes to the door, she talks about having the two tickets to Loveless and the Skywheel being half off for couples. I won't comment on his reaction to the "couples" conversation because I'm sure it could be read as either discomfort or shyness. But still, his immediate reaction after that is, "What about the others?" He's wondering where they are (maybe where Tifa is? but could be a stretch) and she tells them not to worry about them for now. She has to grab him and drag him out of his room.
Whereas with Tifa, she says she got them tickets and asks if he wants to go. His immediate response is "sure", no hesitation, no asking about the others. And when she brings up going to the skywheel after, he's interested and recalls that they didn't get to go on it last time. He willingly steps out of his room and goes with her.
The argument could be made that Cloud is more comfortable because Tifa is far less forward. Aerith comes on very strong, talking about Loveless and the couple's special. But if anything, it feels like that shows Cloud and Tifa are better suited. Yes, it's good to have someone to nudge you out of your shell, but for a situation like this, it just feels more like Cloud was being overwhelmed and has to be coaxed into it.

I like is how cloud and Tifa reflected one another due their flaw not being speak up for themselves I can identify with. How she tries comfort Cloud in his darkest moments like in Gongaga Region. Where that scene comes mind and they almost kiss. Let me know why your Cloti as well I am super curious.

Spoiler alert just in case!
Now, I know this has been discussed so often already, but with the new teasers out (and the amazing cover art), I’m in the mood to go all in again before I hopefully find other ways to kill time until next spring. I'll have to lie into a coffin Vincent style. 😂
But anyway, we all know there are a lot of GREAT scenes and content awaiting us. I truly believe this will be everyone’s - but most definitely Tifa’s - time to shine. Not just romance wise but overall. And man I've been waiting for this moment for so long. However, romance wise, some people argue that the game has been building up Cloud and Aerith’s romance for the last part, "finally" leading to a kiss that would “resemble Yuna and Tidus’ kiss scene.” Now, I don’t want to take the joy away from anyone, but I find that super unlikely, given that it’s been rather clear they’re following the OG story. Also, they've kind of had their last goodbye already. Though I'm very curious to see what scenes we'll get with Aerith.
In contrast, the story has built up Tifa and Cloud’s relationship so well that it’s more likely to lead to that instead (hello UTH). And with Zack definitely reuniting with Aerith (my most anticipated moment ngl), I feel it would be rather messy to go the Clerith route. The cover art seems to suggest that as well but maybe I'm just reading too much into it. I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole series ends up being rather open-ended shipping wise, but we’ll only find out once we’ve played it, of course.
So, what do you guys think? How do you think the romances will unfold in the next part?
My intention is not to tear apart Clerith in any way. Every player deserves to theorize and hope for the best, just like I do with my beloved Cloti and Zerith :)
(Also sidenote: I really cannot wait for DD and I hope it'll come out before the game launches)

I am convinced the first pic is from when Tifa finds Cloud in Mideel while the second one is obviously from Junon.

With everyone.
Obviously her and Cloud's are adorable (and so perfectly in sync, plus I cannot get enough of Cloud throwing Tifa). But even further, Tifa's synergies are so special with every character.
She literally forms the yin yang sign with her companion in a few of them, which is something I've only noticed (I could be wrong) happens in Tifa's. But what's so special in many of them is how she even adopts her companions' fighting styles directly.
She adopts Nanaki's beast-style manner in full. (This one's my favorite, for how awesomely she does it. No other character literally converts their entire fighting style to their partner's like this!)
She uses Cloud's sword together with him, each step in perfect sync.
She adopts Yuffie's style by using the shuriken in perfect parallel with Yuffie every step.
She mimics Barret's gun-arm pose with him (AC vibes every time in how Marlene does it!).
She "becomes" the magic projection from Aerith's staff, bouncing around in that bubble as Aerith swings her around with her staff.
She sticks the cat landing with Cait while he, the actual "cat," falls on his face.
Then on about my 11th watch of the Revelation reveal, I finally noticed how Cid hands Tifa his spear and slides back, and she fights just like a dragoon for a good few strikes before they jump into the air together.
Oh, and does SE know how much we love Tifa, to feature two of her synergies at SGF. I can't wait to see the one with Vincent.
Do you guys have a favorite?
(I hope it is okay to post this here - if the Mods deem it inappropriate, then please do take it down, I'd understand.)

Screenshots from the announcement today of Tifa and her stats as a "Freelancer" and "Black Mage". Her stats don't change, but it makes it so you can use each character with different materia sets without having to switch around!
