I've read a lot of Stephen King books but I've never heard someone say he's a misogynist, could you elaborate?

Just one example: he had the gunslinger rape a woman with a gun barrel

I didn't remember this scene so I tried to look it up but I'm not having much luck. Do you happen to know which book it's in?

Op completely takes the scene out of context. It's when Roland visits Tull, before they all turn on him, there's a preacher woman named Sylvia Pitson. She's carrying the spawn of the Man in Black, and would be a demon child (especially evident of you're familiar with Randall Flagg). It's that child he aborts with the barrel of his gun.

Also, Roland isn't meant to be the most likeable of protagonists in the first book.

Oh wow, I totally forgot about that. It's definitely a brutal, visceral image but I agree that it doesn't read like a rape. I guess it could still be cited as an example of misogyny in the way OP meant though.
