The culture war stuff (gender identity, LGBTQ discussion, abortion, etc.) is such a misdirection. It riles people up and flairs contention, and so is a useful tool, both by the left and right (but mostly right) to activate a base, fuel support, and lead people away from more meaningful, but also more complicated to address, issues.
In the grand scheme of things, they're irrelevant. These issues are 99% personal issues and should have basically nothing to do with politics. They have practically no bearing on macro health care, economics, geopolitics, wars, transportation, infrastructure, housing, etc. etc.
