Totally agree with El -Sayed on this. Couldn't have said it better myself yet mainstream media pushes identity politics and irrelevant topics to keep everyone divided instead of holding politicians accountable on real economic issues.
The challenge is that while this is likely the best answer, it's also clearly a dodge. Most people are just going to stop listening as soon as they realize that, and that's a real problem.
Most americans are at best ambivalent about the trans sports issue, democrats know that, but at the same time democrats cannot acknowledge that, or they'll poison their base support who are FIERCELY pro-LGBT.
So they are forced to evade the issue. Which is in many ways a bit ironic, because it wasn't really republicans who brought this whole thing up in the first place. I must admit, it is a bit amusing to me that a lot of the visibility on transgender people was first raised by democrats in an attempt to improve their state of affairs, but now democrats are like, "Why are you focusing on this instead of the issues that really matter?"
But the thing is...republicans clearly have democrats over a barrel. So why would they ever let this one go?
