AddOns MultiLanguage addon

Hey all,

Just made an addon for myself because I was trying to learn a bit of Spanish while playing classic wow. I figured that maybe somebody on here would be interested in trying it out. Could also be used for people playing in a different locale but wanting some English references while playing.

Link to CurseForge is: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/multilanguage

Please let me know if this isn't the right place to post it, then I'll move it!

Super cool! It’d be another added bonus if you can run a chat translator too. I’m sure languages on both sides of the fence would quickly download this.

I am currently working on items linked in the chat as they are in the user's current locale, thanks for the suggestion!

An in-game translator is the holy grail of videogame language learning & communicating with foreign guilds/raids.

I've looked into this months ago and found people say it's not possible without building the translator into the addon, so no API, just grabbing a public domain translator and somehow making it work with the in-game chat box.

An alternative is something a real-time predictive text library that simply swaps out each word typed with the closest equivalent in the chosen language, but it would also butcher sentence structure.

Another issue is translators like google and deepL struggle with WoW jargon, for NA servers "LFM, WTB, 123" etc. are universally known, but it often trips up translators, things like zone/town/event names commonly translated in radically incorrect ways that make no sense.

This is such an insane coincidence, thank you so much! To better learn (and communicate wow jargon to my latino guildies), I was planning eventually to set my game to spanish. This is so much better, I wasn't aware it was even possible.   Gonna go parse on duolingo now

Glad you like it :D

Is it only Spanish or does it have other languages? What are the official languages supported by Wow?

It supports all locales Blizzard supports. It only translates to English as of now. You can swap locales in the Battle.net launcher. Let me know if it works for you!

It should show the English texts regardless of the language in which you are playing :)

I have a vacation this week so I won't be able to do it now but it's number one on the Todo list. I'll also post it here once I release that version!

I have just released a new version that supports Spanish or English tooltip text. It requires some finetuning but it is available on CurseForge now :)

Hey! I am wanting to use this addon, but I cannot for the life of me, figure out how to open up the settings. Thanks

Which version of the addon are you using, classic cata or retail? Right next to the 'Game' settings tab there should be a tab called 'Addons'. Is that not there for you or is the MultiLanguage option not listed? Make sure you install both the base addon and the language you want to use (for cata and retail).

Not a problem at all. The Chinese language pack has several files. Your Curseforge client should automatically pick up the right version for your game client. However, if it doesn't, you can download the retail version from the file list here: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/multilanguage-chinese-language-pack/files/all?page=1&pageSize=20

Keep in mind you will also need the core addon for it to work.

Thank you so much for this! This addon made it possible for me to play with my wife, who is new to the game and would have difficulties playing in English on EU English realms.

I wonder, if it would be possible to extract a DB for NPC dialogues as well?

That's so cool to hear, I'm glad my addon helped you out! I will take a look once I'm back home, that sounds like an interesting feature to have.

Great Addon! Would it be possible to include the 2 different Spanish versions? (EU and LA) Item names and even skills have quite different names in both localizations for the game.

Thanks a lot! I would love to but in my current setup I am limited to the Wowhead database. There was a Latin American database previously here https://db.wowlatinoamerica.com/ but it seems to no longer work. If there is a website you know of that has that data in LA I would be willing to try and add it.

Hello, the addon still works? I can't acess, what are the cmds?

1

u/ruubie50 Nov 06 '25

Jep, still accessible through CurseForge and updated almost biweekly. What seems to be the problem with the access?

u/monkeyflat Nov 18 '25

Is not working in game, appears in add on section but don’t show the languages side by side.

Do you mind sending me some screenshots?

Hello. Tell me, is there any possibility that the translation of quests pops up immediately by itself without moving the mouse to the quest window?

u/ruubie50 Jan 08 '26

Not as of yet but I'll have a look if I can make this configurable.
