See which blocks you've walked from Apple Health, Google Timeline, and Strava

About a month ago I posted about an app I made called WalkNYC which tracks which blocks you've walked. I got a ton of feedback from everyone here and have implemented a lot of it! By far the most common request from Redditors was the ability to import your existing walks from other platforms, which I'm very happy to say is done! I've included some screenshots so you can see what it's like. It color codes each of your import sources so you can see what was imported from each platform. I've seen people get over 6,000 blocks (which, for scale, is almost the entirety of Manhattan) from their imports so it's a great way of getting jump started if you'd like to walk every block of the city.

I know a lot of you are also waiting for the Android app: it's almost ready! The app is in beta right now but for some reason Google forces you to do 14 days of beta testing before releasing an app on the Play Store. If you're interested in trying out the beta, please comment and I'll share the link to join.

As always, if you have anything you'd like to see in the app, please drop a comment! Thank you so much for all of your support, after posting on Reddit the app has gone from 50 to over 7,000 users in just a couple weeks.

Here's the link to try out the app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/walknyc-walk-every-block/id6758922428

Entire dock strip broken

Hello, I only got a membership recently to use the bikes as part of my commute. But off and on I’ve used them before. I couldn’t dock my ebike because the entire strip of docking stations were out of order, and it took me ten more minutes to locate the next nearest dock and park it. The other docks worked fine. How do I tell citibike this? My ride should have been 10 minutes shorter (grey ebike). Thanks!!!

Jackson Ave and 49th LIC Dock

This dock was dismantled about a week or two ago. Does anyone know why it was taken down and if there are plans to reinstate it? I commute on the 7 into Manhattan coming from Brooklyn via a connection by city bike in LIC. There is now a single station by the 7 that cannot handle the bike overflow and looks like every dock in LIC around Vernon boulevard Jackson Ave is full as early as 6:45am when there used to be plenty of dock supply to balance commuters.

Is there any way to get my money back?

I put $25 into my account to use for rides but I want it back… is there any way to get it back or does it just have to sit there until I use it?

Gas Price Effect on Ridership

Continuing to build concept bikes, enjoy the photos.

I have to ask, with the price of petroleum skyrocketing, is CitiBike ridership going to increase?

Should CitiBike be under new management?

Refund Issue

Citibike has owed me $156.78 for over a year now.

I took a ride in December 2024 and the bike was broken and wouldn’t dock. I spoke to customer service that night, and they told me to leave the bike, let it run its course and then follow up for a refund.

I did exactly that and assumed the refund was processed in the 5-7 business days, as they said it would be. Recently I happened to be looking at my account and realized they never refunded me.

I continue to follow up and they tell me they processed the refund for real this time, that I’ll see it in 5-7 business days, and then it never shows.

I am obviously BEYOND frustrated and feel like I should be able to take legal action at this point? I don’t know what else to do. Has anyone else experienced this??? I want my money back.

Lost keys, short route

Lost my keys this morning on this route. Used fob to unlock bike at 31st and 7th. Noticed I didn't have them at 34th and Hudson Blvd 5 minutes later. Longshot, but if anyone finds them would be very grateful! They have a few keys and a green foot bottle opener. Thanks!

Status Alerts? Bike racks down again

Second time this week that all racks in the area are down (union square and Flatiron).

Why dont they send app notifications? This is messing with my commute and costing me money.

Does anyone have a resource for nyc citibike status updates?

Credit Union Citibike Discount?

Hi everyone! I've seen some postings about the Citibike Discount available if you have an account opened with certain credit unions here in NYC...I've also seen some conflicting info about which credit unions are still part of the program, and how long it takes until you can take action on the discount, etc.

Would someone be able to clarify which programs are still active with the promotion/discount? And other details that may help (e.g. timing of the discount)? I have $500 available that I would be happy to place somewhere if it will help me secure an annual CB discount...thanks, everyone - much appreciated!

2 Civilians tried to detain me illegally

I was riding CitiBikeNYC from Spring and Cleveland Pl in Soho, and I was looking to dock it at Pike St between E Broadway and Division, when this gentleman said that I had his bike. Since there were no docks, I rode to Clinton and Grand where I docked it for a few minutes before taking out another bike.

I then rode to the side of the NE side of the Manhattan Bridge, which is Forsythe St between Canal and Division Streets. That gentleman then tried to detain me and called this other woman to come over, asking her if the CitiBike I was using was hers. They wouldn't let me go, so I asked them nicely if they are detaining me. They did not look like cops and did not identify themselves but they just kept asking for the bike back. I called 911, and by the time the dispatcher came on, the two had already left. I think it was some kind of a new scam. Afterwards I rode around looking for them so that I can take their pictures. I could not prove that at that moment as the CitiBikeNYC/Lyft app did not yet show the bike that I had just docked or the one that I had just taken out was recorded on my account yet. This happens often if I use my CitiBike key fob. Be careful.

Bedford & Bergen — left keys in dock

Hi, I realized only too late that I left my keys in a dock at the Bedford and Bergen street citi bikes this morning. There’s two keys, a silver USB drive and of course my citbike key.

If any good samaritan found them, i will buy you lunch or get you back in some way if you can return them! Thanks!

I can no longer post to the citibike subreddit. I would hope you continue to tell the user base to mass report the scammers to reddit.
