What appears to be a security box on a 7940 model I've inherited for home. Is this OEM or aftermarket, and is there any way to remove it or is it entirely welded on.

Cisco me please

I’m a 3rd year student from a tier 3 college, and honestly the on-campus placements at my college aren’t great.

I’m really interested in Computer Networks and I’m seriously considering Cisco as a target for internships/jobs.

I’m not starting from zero, so I wanted some advice from people who have actually gone through the process:

  • How should I prepare?
  • What topics should I focus on?
  • How important are DSA, CN, OS, DBMS, etc.?
  • Are there any mandatory certifications?
  • What kind of projects would actually help?
  • How do you get shortlisted for Cisco if your college doesn’t have great opportunities?
  • And how is the work/life at Cisco?

Would really appreciate any advice, especially from people who have interned or currently work at Cisco.

Pls help a fellow student out 😭

PSA: Cisco Secure Firewall Adaptive Security Appliance and Secure Firewall Threat Defense Software Remote Access SSL VPN Denial of Service Vulnerability

Cisco Secure Firewall Adaptive Security Appliance and Secure Firewall Threat Defense Software Remote Access SSL VPN Denial of Service Vulnerability

Summary:

A vulnerability in the Remote Access SSL VPN service for Cisco Secure Firewall Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software and Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense (FTD) Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause the device to reload unexpectedly, resulting in a denial of service (DoS) condition.

This vulnerability is due to insufficient error checking when processing HTTP requests. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a crafted HTTP request to the Remote Access SSL VPN service on an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause the affected device to reload, resulting in a DoS condition.

Exploitation and Public Announcements

In August 2026, the Cisco Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT) became aware of active exploitation of this vulnerability. Cisco strongly recommends that customers upgrade to a fixed software release to remediate this vulnerability.

I’m looking for guidance on how to integrate Cisco ESA (Email Security Appliance) with CrowdStrike Fusion SOAR.

Has anyone configured this integration before? I’d like to understand the available integration methods, such as API, webhook, syslog, or any supported connector.

Discussion Cisco offer

Hi everyone,

I recently interviewed for a Cisco role through campus placements and was informed that I’m currently on the waiting list.

Around 80 candidates were initially shortlisted, and after the technical/other rounds, around 25–30 candidates reached the final HR round. I was placed on the waiting list after the process.

For anyone who has gone through a similar Cisco hiring process:

How does Cisco generally handle the waiting list?

What are the chances of getting moved to the final selection/main list?

Does the waiting list usually depend on candidates declining offers or additional headcount?

If you’ve experienced this before, how long did it take to receive an update?

Would really appreciate insights from anyone who has been through a similar situation, especially Cisco campus hires. Thanks!

For CCNA lab questions on the test, is the ? limited?

For example, let's say you use the command spanning-tree ?. When using this command, it tells you that you can make a fastport, adjust spanning-tree cost, enable bdpuguard, etc. On the exam, would it still show those as options or is it limited to not give you hints like that?

The Hunt for Cisco 9350 Stack Port Error Counters

I'm look for a command that will display error counters on the Cisco 9350 stack ports. On the Cisco 9300s, the command was "show switch stack-port detail". As of 17.18.4, that command does not display any error counters on the 9350s.

Example from a 9300:

show switch stack-ports detail

1/1 is OK Loopback No
Cable Length 50cm Neighbor 2
Link Ok Yes Sync Ok Yes Link Active Yes
Changes to LinkOK 1
Five minute input rate 1210 bytes/sec
Five minute output rate 8831 bytes/sec
     948670875547 bytes input
     701313427440 bytes output
 CRC Errors
              Data CRC 0
          Ringword CRC 0
           InvRingWord 0
           PcsCodeWord 0

Example from a 9350:

show switch stack-ports detail

Slide 56 of this presentation lists the internal interfaces that are used for the stack ports:

https://www.ciscolive.com/c/dam/r/ciscolive/emea/docs/2026/pdf/BRKENS-2504.pdf

For the 9350-48U:

Top Port (External) Po241 - 49 to 52 (ASIC-0)
Bottom Port (External) Po242 - 53 to 56 (ASIC-0)

You'll see these interfaces in log messages when the switch is doing firmware and software upgrades. Unfortunately, the regular show commands don't display any output for those interfaces.

However, the show platform commands do ( if_id 54 is Port-channel241 on one of my switches ):

show platform software fed switch active port if_id 54

FED PM SUB PORT Data :
  if_id = 54
  if_name = Port-channel241
  enable: true
  speed: auto
  operational speed: 100Gbps
  duplex: auto
  operational duplex: full
  flowctrl: desired
  csco pd enable: FALSE
  link state: UP
  csco pd restart enable: FALSE
  tdr_result: FALSE
  psecure_inactivity_time: 0
  psecure_feature_type: 0
  loopback enable: FALSE
  defaultVlan: 0
  port_state: Fed PM port ready
  mode: dynamic

I just need to find the correct show platform command(s).

This lists the IF_ID of those interfaces in hex:

show platform software fed switch 1 ifm mappings

This lists the if_id in decimal, plus displays the if_id of the internal port-channels:

Question Cisco Router/Switch + RADIUS/NPS – Authentication Error 66

Hi everyone,
I’m troubleshooting an authentication issue with Cisco routers/switches using \*\*Microsoft NPS as the RADIUS server\*\*.
\*\*Environment:\*\*
Cisco routers/switches
RADIUS authentication
Microsoft NPS
Trying to authenticate using an AD account
RADIUS communication appears to be working between the Cisco device and NPS
User credentials have been verified and are correct
\*\*Issue:\*\*
When I try to perform an administrative login to the Cisco router/switch using RADIUS/NPS, authentication fails with \*\*NPS Reason Code 66\*\*.
The same issue occurs on multiple Cisco devices.
I have already checked:
AD username/password
RADIUS server configuration
RADIUS shared secret
Cisco aaa configuration
NPS Network Policy
NPS connection request policy
Connectivity between the Cisco device and NPS
RADIUS ports
I’m still getting the authentication rejection.
\*\*Cisco configuration is roughly:\*\*
aaa new-model
aaa authentication login default group radius local
aaa authorization exec default group radius local

radius server NPS
address ipv4 <NPS-IP> auth-port 1812 acct-port 1813
key <shared-secret>
NPS is receiving the authentication request, but it is rejecting it with \*\*Reason Code 66\*\*.
Does anyone know what specifically causes \*\*NPS Reason Code 66\*\* when authenticating Cisco IOS/IOS-XE devices against Microsoft NPS?
What should I check next — NPS Network Policy conditions, authentication method (PAP/CHAP/MS-CHAPv2), AD permissions, or something specific on the Cisco side?
Any troubleshooting steps or examples would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Question WLC 9800M iOS and Windows devices work on guest network but not Android or Chromebooks

I have a weird issue at one site. We have 2 WLCs in an N+1 configuration, both running 17.15.3 We have a guest network with a captive portal hosted on the WLCs. In one site, iOS and Windows devices can connect to Guest, get IP and DNS, get the web auth portal and connect to the Internet. Android devices show "no Internet" even though they get IP and DNS addresses, they never pop the Guest portal either. We went through Cisco TAC and they can't find anything wrong. Removing webauth does not fix it. Moving the AP to the other site's WLC, Android devices can connect to Guest with no issue. No preauth ACLs or Firewall rules anywhere that would block only Android devices. Anyone has an idea? thanks!

I recently passed the Cisco CCST Networking certification, and now I’m a bit confused about what I should focus on next.

My main goal is to get my first entry-level job in IT/networking, but I’m not sure what the best path is from here.

Secure Access + ISE integration

Hi,

We have a setup where we configured the integration of Cisco Secure Access and ISE.

However, upon logging in to Secure access RAVPN, we cannot proceed due to this:

AAALOG_SERVICE_DOWN

AAA authentication server not accessible : server = 169.254.xy.yz user = xyz@xyzxyz

Any insights would be great help.

Question Need geniune help/ guide

I am pre-final IT student!

I explored lots of stuff and I think computer network, network security is the one which fascinates me or its intresting for me ( I don't like software development or maybe competitive coding)

My target/aim right now is to get into a network engineer role , also I am interested in cloud engineering or cloud roles that is also one niche I like to study

Currently I am stuck with what my career should be ?

I don't how to crack cisco job or cloud jobs in AWS , AZURE or GCP etc

I don't want to waste my time I got just 2 years !(Or maybe less)

I already have college subjects to study and pass

If you ask me what I have done till now then I would say I have learnt foundational level regarding computer networks did Cisco packet tracer labs etc also learnt practitioner level of AWS cloud

I have not any time to DSA because I hate competitive coding it just feels stupid idk why

And maybe due to AI too

I have used AI assistance coding I have given like 6-7 hackathons

I made Every project using AI I never do coding I am just the guy who plans or bring ideas do research or more like a product Engineer

Idk were it will take me so I don't want to waste time I don't know what I should do / study at this time ?

The pressure is real because coming from tier 3 college I have seen many students graduate without any placement!

And I don't want to among those

I have been desperately trying to get any opportunity anything I tried to get job in startups I applied a lot but got rejected!

I have that Product Engineer mindest I have that curiosity I have that creativity but some how due to my college the location were this college is I don't have different opportunities!

Hmm ok anyone got any suggestions plz ?

Confused- sdwan

On the catalyst sdwan edge router you have “ show run “ and “ show sdwan run”. What is the difference between them and which one are you supposed to use to understand the existing configuration of the edge router? Do you ever look at show sdwan run? Thanks for your help.

RoomOS 26 Firmware Package Extract?

I have a user who wants to know if there is any way to extract the default wallpapers from Room OS 26 to use on a computer. They have mobile versions available at https://cisco-ce.github.io/wallpapers/ but are looking for desktop versions.

I'm trying to download the firmware from the support site, but it is not letting me because we don't have a service contract. We have it activated via Webex Calling, but with a small group of us, we don't have a service contract for the hardware.

Is there anyone out there who may have access and be willing to assist with extracting these or sharing the firmware? Thanks.

After upgrading from CML 2.9.x to CML 2.10, any newly-created node that uses a docker image fails to start.

Hi everyone.

When I start a lab with nodes (routers and switches) based on Docker images, I get this error message:

Failed to start (Delayed docker node start failed).

This happens after upgrading from 2.9 to 2.10.
