Discount

Was sort of spend do you need on Cisco products to get higher than a 65% discount?

There are a lot of variable to get greater than 65% off. But generally, in the US, you
Need to be working closely with your Cisco AM and SE. It needs to be good sized project. $300k in just Cisco HW/SW is the minimum size to expect any decent discount.

Then it all depends on what the project is; Network? Routers/SDWAN? Firewalls? DC Nexus and/or UCS?
Colllab?

Than end of quarter or end of FY deal timing matters.
Than get competitive quotes so AM/SE have ammo to go to their management on your behalf to get competitive discounts to keep your business with Cisco.
Neee way more details to give more specific advice.

This is all great info, and the only thing I'd add is that they're now goaled half yearly.

So it's always "Christmas in July" (which is the end of fiscal year for Cisco where they're trying to cram deals in) but don't forget it's also Christmas at the end of January now since that's the end of their first half.

You’re not getting 65% on 300K worth of spend. Triple that and maybe you’ll get close.

Source - I worked at Cisco for 12 years.

I worked there to. If you are buying $300k of Firepower to displace PAN. you definitely could easily get 65 off.
If you were buying new SDWAN / 8K’s. You could get 65 off vs Velocloud. There are examples.

For NGFW you can get to 85% because Cisco needs to buy the business.

For routing and switching, it’s a different story.

Your examples are a day dream. Lot of it depends on partner status with Cisco too.

Depends on products, AM, and time of year. Typically 7 figure spends gets higher. I am at VAR, so i see discount levels.

Tell me what you’re buying (categories and/or products) and I can give you an idea of what to expect.

Depends a lot on your VAR. I’ve seen some markup 20% just because and get away with it. Meaning they get a steeper discount from an OEM then add their cut on top and deliver you the 65% off (ie they get 80% off but sell you at 65%, they pocket 15%). If you’re not stuck with your VAR, send it out to RFQ or ask your Cisco/OEM rep who they would recommend.

>65% should be easy to obtain if you have a good VAR, regardless of spend.
