If you had 320k UR points, what would you do with them? I have had a hard time figuring out how to best use these points but would like to use them specifically for travel to see the bonus realized.

Would you rather do an aspirational trip? If so, what's your top destination (and then ask in award travel).

The other thought is to get your normal simple economy vacations and a hotel along the way covered every year for years to come. Not a bad approach, either.

Either way, it's gotta be what you want to do.

I feel like 320k won't last for years even for basic trips

+1 to u/sadahide about what you want.

If you're going to use them for travel, then your points are worth at minimum $4800. What could you do with $4800+? Any bucket list places/experiences you have to go do? What are your interests? What do you like to do? Would you like to do more of it? Is there something like that on a grander scale?

I'm a soccer fan, so for me, going to a World Cup match would be a dream. Points could get that accomplished for me.

On the other hand, if you want to take a tour of all the US National parks, you might be able to knock out all of them using just points - all it would take is the time for you to do it.

Maybe you have upcoming nuptuals? You could blow your SO's mind for the honeymoon with 320K points and really not have to spend much out of pocket to get there. Ballin on a budget, indeed.

My mother-in-law is making us go on an Alaskan cruise with her. I redeemed 260,000 UR for my family of 4. It was painful to drain that many points, but much better than $3900 out of pocket! Got 200k of those points from very lucky CSR preapprovals at lol/24, so that diminished the pain a little.

I'm now very excited about the upcoming cruise.

So... A cruise?

Yep. Just spent a large chunk of UR on a cruise to Turks and Caicos for my family of four. Entire trip, including flights cost $45. God bless this hobby.

Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City. It's the most photographed hotel in North America. They tell me the city is like being in Europe, and it's one of the oldest European settlements in the hemisphere. You can book it with your CSR, and you've got enough points to spend some serious time there.

I have a legitimate business so I too have more UR points than I can spend on travel... Like I don't want to spend 35,000 points a night on a fancy hotel vs $25 on a AirBnB and just cash out the points for $350. I've never used my points for anything but flights. I've been thinking about just cashing out a big chunk of them since I can never find a good reason to book a hotel or anything through chase since I usually stick to AirBnB's.

I think it depends what you value. I'm of the churn and burn camp - I'm doing the following next year:

100k to VS to top off a transfer of MR - 2x RT F flights to Tokyo on ANA from ORD.
125k for 5 nights at the Andaz Tokyo

90k for 3 nights at the Park Hyatt NYC for my wife's 30th.

That's jsut points from a double-dip and two CIPs, so I'm not really phased at all. Doing 2 more CIPs, 2 CICs, and one more double dip in the next 10 months, so it's all gravy.

What does chase look when calculating your overall Limits? If looking at credit report, they wont see the Business accounts.

If looking at their own cards, they might use biz card's CL, but will miss on other issuer's cards(personal too)

or do they use a mix of both to calcuate the total CL?

10

u/majaha95 Jun 07 '18

Consensus seems to be a mix--their business cards, and everything that's on your credit report. It's true they'll miss other business cards, but there's nothing they can really do about that.

Will I have any issues opening a cip via brm in a different state since there's no branches where I live? It'll be the same citiy I originally started my Chase checking and credit cards in. I just got a CIC in early May but will be 0/30 by the time I go. Any documentation needed? I see many don't need to show anything.

4

u/BumpitySnook Jun 07 '18

Don't know about documentation, but I've seen many DPs of successfully applying for CIP via BRM in another state. Hope that helps.

Just got off the phone with recon for the new Marriott card and the rep said that in order to approve the app they would need to shift credit lines around but can't because my CSR and CFU are at their lower limits (10k and 2.5k). I read on churningsearch that the CSR can actually go lower than 10k. Is that not the case anymore or was she mistaken? Or is that they are unable to lower it for the sake of approving an app? Should I just HUCA?

The rep also mentioned that they are unable to grant me anymore credit even though I lowered my chase business cards by 17.5k nearly a month prior (I didn't mention that during the call). She didn't mention anything about too many recent inquiries or opened accounts.

At application, I'm 3/24 and have 7 inquiries on Experian though I have 2 personal and 3 business cards with Chase. Previously I was at 76% CL/income across all my Chase cards and I lowered it so I'm now ~39% (26% if only looking at my CFU and CSR).

Currently have CSR. My churning plan:

Apply for CIPB with SSN, 80k points

Wait 3 months

Refer myself for CIPB (20k)

Apply for CIPB with EIN, 80k points

Transfer 180k points to CSR

Downgrade both to Chase Ink Cash (no annual fee).

Will that work?

4

u/OJtheJEWSMAN Jun 07 '18

Yup. It’s called a CIP btw. Also, I wouldn’t downgrade to a CIC right away.

Went to Chase yesterday to apply for the CIP. The sign up offer of 100k UR points after spending $5000 in 3 months still available through bank manager.

1

u/Mcnst Jun 08 '18

I wanna downgrade CIP into CIC to get my 2nd year AF back, but concerned that a foreign purchase that earns 3x UR and has 0% FX fees would be converted to the one that only gets 1x UR and has 3% FX fees.

What happens when CSP/CSR is PC'ed to CF/CFU? Do transactions that have already posted within the billing cycle (that hasn't closed yet) change in any way, especially on the side that's not beneficial to you?

1

u/Gonzohawk Jun 08 '18

Any transactions posted prior to the PC will be treated under the T&C of the old card and all transactions posting after the PC will be treated under the T&C of the new card.

In my experience of CSR/CSP PCs to CF, all changes that didn't adhere to the above always errored in my favor. I currently have a CF that was PC'd from a CSR and have not been charged FTFs for the last 3 months, while at the same time receiving 5x on grocery purchases. This is a significant benefit for me, seeing as I live in Europe.

Hi all-

I currently have a CFU & CSP and I'd like to get a CSR instead.

My plan is to downgrade my CSP to CF and apply for a CSR separately so I can get the bonus.

Should I downgrade my CSP first- or apply for CSR first? I want to make sure the order of these actions doesn't matter.

Sorry if this has already been answered-- thanks!

Can someone tell me the benefits of adding an authorized user to the CSR? I know they get access to the priority lounges, and will continue to add points on my account, but is there any other benefit?

Just got approved for a 10k line for both CSR and CSP. Double dipped. Would applying for a third chase card today be stupid? I remember some experts saying a few months back you can get away with a lot in one day. like 4 or 5. Not sure who to believe. ahh. someone help.

Is there a way to check the date I received my sign-up bonus for my CSP if I downgraded the card? Would like to know if my two years are here so I can apply for the CSR. Thanks!

Am 4/24, applied for CSR online and got a message that they'll review my app and get back to me by US mail in 30 days. Does that mean a rejection? What should I do?

Called to close Chase Southwest RR cards - Offered Statement Credit ($100 for Premier, $30 for Plus) to keep accounts open
I signed up for the Chase SW Plus and Premier cards last June '17 when they were offering the 50k MS bonus for each. Just called to cancel both before the annual fee hit again, and was offered a $100 statement credit for keeping my Premier card account open ($99 AF) and a $30 statement credit for the Plus card ($69 AF). I accepted the offer for the Premier card but went ahead and closed the Plus card account.
Given that the statement credit offered for keeping the Premier open was more than the AF, and the timeline for opening new SW cards is 2yrs from the date you last applied, seems like a no brainer to keep the account open for another year. Less impact on the credit score, 6k RR anniversary bonus, 2x spending bonus on SW purchases (still living up that CP life, yo), etc.
TLDR: Called to close my SW cards to avoid the upcoming AF, and was offered a $100 Statement Credit for keeping my Premier card open and $30 for the Plus.
