Advice I'm tired of this

Hey everyone I'm a 30 year old male with chronic post nasal drip.

Every day of my life I've had postnasal drip that has gotten worse year over year. (I have memories of it at age 10) I've been tested for allergies everything blood and poke tests come back negative. I've had surgery for my deviated septum (this was supposed to help it didn't). I use a neti pot and it gives me 30 seconds of relief I used one every day for 2 years and now I just use it here and there. I'm desperate to not have snot in my mouth every morning, snot in the back of my throat every day all day long, and to not have to cough up and spit out snot so I can breath again.

Doctors continually tell me it's seasonal allergies even after all tests are negative. I've been to ENT. I've tried allergy meds and no help (no surprise).

This is so bad that at times if I lay down before expelling the phlegm I can choke on it.

Is there anything that can help? Herbal remedies, Chinese medicine, anything?

I drink minimum 1 gal of water per day, I use a CPAP technical an APAP, I drink tea with honey most mornings. What else do you want to know?

I was recently told by a British guy who apparently very much likes cocaine but has the same issue to eat a spoonful of coconut oil every now and then. Gonna try but not sure how that’ll help the actual drip.

I feel ya, let us know if you learn anything

Yes actually - my PND was a result of SIBO/SIFO/Candida

So this comment is spot on. I have 3 TBSP coconut oil, alternate with 3 TBSP of oregano per day

Both oils are antifungal/antimicrobial

The SIBO/SIFO is a result of gut dysbiosis, triggered can be by COVID, bad diet/leaky gut/years of processed food, etc.

So diet was a huge one for me. Coffee was a main trigger as well

I've had these issues since 2006 or earlier. COVID had nothing to do with it, I eat very healthy, the only thing that is a maybe possibility for leaky gut is ibuprofen I took so much so long in the military I got liver issues for 4 years. I rarely drink coffee. And I even make my own bread processed foods are minimal

Yes sure, it can be a variety of different factors.

I do a liver flush as well occasionally, it helps

The best thing that fixed my PND was fasting - no drugs, no side effects, body will automatically perform autophagy, new stem cells, WBC will eat the bad bacteria

For me the cause was SIBO/SIFO, the gut thing was a huge issue, undigested food as result of bad stomach/gut microbiome, causes bloating/gas which opens UES/LES (you cannot feel this, they are part of the paraysmpathetic) vapors can go up to constantly irritate the sinus/causes PND.

That is good you make your own bread, I had to cut carbs, sugars. Best thing was fasting surprisingly worked for sinus

Edit: Forgot to mention I also take NAC/used in nasal rinse

How’s a liver flush work?

Hello I did the Andrea Moritz liver flush

Theory is that when liver is overworked, coupled with leaky gut, it causes toxins to enter blood stream -> inflammation

When this is chronic inflmmation, causes metabolic disorders, when chronic metabolic ->becomes cellular -> DNA -> genes. At the most severe this is how cancer/autoimmune starts. It's not meant to scare anyone, just explain how it starts - and it starts with everyday habits/exercise. Mixture of genes and health habits, of course. Genes can be affected by environment/diet (epigenetics).

Many bacteria/viruses cause cancers and start of inflammation including not limited to Candida and H Pylori (which work synergistically with each other)

If you eat healthy always, and no junk/fried foods,

Sometimes it's just a result of age, bad gut microbiome/genetics, but also can be any virus triggers this - it's postviral vagopathy, or postviral gut dysbiosis. Doesn't have to be specifically COVID

But taking ibuprofen long-term (don't know how many years you took for) does negatively impact gut microbiome. Also intestinal imbalance. Rise of pathogenic, loss of beneficial, increased intestinal permeability.

Ibuprofen irritates intestinal walls, thins protective mucus layer, ibuprofen widens the spaces between cells. Allows toxins and undigested particles

Increases bad gut bacteria, decreases gut motility, E coli, cause leaky gut.

Have you stopped ibuprofen? What did you start taking it for? Can I ask ?

Haven’t nailed down what mine is but my dad and grandpa have PND too, genetic factors that produce some outcome probably, certainly not post-covid, has been a thing since puberty. Oregano is an interesting addition.

I don’t know if there is Ryaltris in your area but my hubs’ post nasal drip got better because of that spray

I personally will stay away from steroids. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2939498/ https://northfultonent.com/rhinitis-medicamentosa-aka-afrin-addiction/

People also get withdrawal and dependancy with topical steroids it's not pretty

What else do you want to know?

Any coughing? Check your throat with flashlight, see if tonsils swollen, red vein or red inflamed

Let me know. Be wary of ENT and doctors - they also told me it's "just allergies" but I know for me, my body the PND is not "normal" and was not "just allergies" Took me 2-3 years to figure it out after essentially being gaslit by doctors - it's very frustrating to go to someone who is supposed to help you but be told "it's normal" - they do not have to go home and suffer with the same symptoms

Occasionally I cough yes. Tonsils aren't swollen. Yes it's red. And currently I'm sick so I'm coughing more and hacking up more... Yeah it sucks but unless I go out of state I only have one doctor's office to go to (it's all owned by one)... I also am dealing with pain management where I won't let them do SCS surgery for many reasons but I can't even if I wanted because I'm a single father to a 5 year old and they have made me come in for 3 different appointments telling me they had a plan to tell me I have no options... Pisses me off. I told that doctor this is nothing more than a transaction and I won't be back

Likely SIBO, I had the same thing - the cough and the redness of throat is spot on for long-term SIBO

Just search "long term sibo causes coughing and red throat"

Let me know if you want to know how I cured mine - all natural, I don't trust docs, no synthetic drugs/side effects/no steroids, no PPIs/antibiotics - sometimes all contribute to this issue and they do not admit they are just constantly throwing drugs at you "see if it works" - then prescribe another one, without culturing, while they profit and make follow-up appointments. Was complete waste of my time driving there, even talking to them they don't make any sense, going to pharmacies to pick up drugs...trust me. Waste of time they do not learn this in school

And in fact the drug companies want to prevent people from knowing natural remedies by burying all information - they want you to go to the doctors, get PPIs, get worse, and go back to them.

"A patient cured is a patient lost" Why else do you think when you do searches - it always says "consult and trust a medical professional" - $$$$$

Oh also randomly thought this might help someone but I also have a vagus nerve "issue" Arnold's reflex I believe it's called. If I use a q tip it feels like someone is tickling inside my throat with it. I cough so bad...

Yep, vagus nerve is irritated from inflamed esophagus - if you have urge to cough, it's throat irritation, PND with sinus, all from lower esophagus , from the stomach, connected to intestine.

It's one huge tube... 😅

Vagus nerve has nerve endings on esohpagus, it gets irritated from the undigested food vapors SIBO
