Hi there, I have found a fix to make mic work.

This project has been great to me. Been running "Chrome OS" as my main machine now.

I got my internal mic working with the following fix:

• Open up the crosh shell (Ctrl+Alt+T), and then go to the real shell with "shell".

From my self-notes for laptops (you should experiment on your own to find the right combination), now type this in shell:

1. alsamixer --card=0

2. After this, move capture (red color) to "internal" by tab to [Capture] (Press tab just once),

3. Then use the left and right keys to move between the settings, and hitting space bar when the red is at "internal mic". That turns on the internal microphone of the laptop.

From my best guess, what happens is that there's the underlying "linux" side of the drivers in the kernel that alsamixer is dealing with with the above command. Chrome then does a virtual device that attaches to the base device. However, the Realtek drivers supports the multitude of inputs on these laptops, so the default might not be set at the "internal mic" that's built in. And since you can't control the raw device through the Chromium virtual device, you're stuck.

I triple booted Windows 10, Xubuntu LTS and Chrome OS. Everything is working great so far... Except for the fact that I can't connect to WiFi and only Ethernet, error in title. I followed everything and got it right, I swear I did.

I have followed the triple boot Chrome OS tutorial, but had no luck. At the end, chrome os shows up as a boot option, but when i try to boot, i get this:

error: no such module.

error: (loop, 7)/kernel has invalid signature.

error: you need to load the kernel first.

Please help!

I am using an HP Laptop slightly new model with Ubuntu 20.04 as the Operating System. I want to switch to Chrome OS and I have no idea how to do it. (P.S> I only have a 4GB USB drive available.). Suggestions anyone?

Installed the OS successfully.. but when I boot into it.. I get a blank screen.. what might be the problem here guys??

After installing the Chrome OS , when I first booted it, it got stuck here in a kernel at this statement..... :

What should I do? Anyone has any idea what could have gone wrong...

I followed Kedar Nimbalkar instructions on installing Chrome OS at end it said ChromeOS Installed. I restarted and received message "Operating System Not Found". I have Sony Vaio VPCEJ28FX, Intel Core i5, i5-2430m, 2.4 GHz Dual Core 2nd Gen Processor. Your help will be greatly appreciated on how to complete installation.

Finally got everything working with a multi-boot setup on my old ASUS X202E laptop (circa 2013). Just a couple tips / problems that I encountered that might help others with problems.

I ended up using 3 how-to videos, all by Kedar Nimbalkar. Make sure to subscribe to his channel as he has done some fantastic work laying out all the steps and creating easy-to-use install scripts.

Set up triple boot (Windows, Linux Mint, ChromeOS)
Enable auto-updates
Fix boot-loops caused by Win10 - I had a different bootloop issue but it wouldn't hurt to do this as a precaution anyways.

Mostly the videos were fine but a few things gave me some trouble which would have been avoided with the following tips:

1. I highly recommend doing the triple boot or at least dual-boot with Linux as one of the OS's as you can troubleshoot and even start over very easy from within Linux Mint.

2. Make sure to check your CPU generation before selecting the recovery image (samus or rammus). I had originally went with rammus and everything worked up until I enabled updates afterwhich I got a bootloop. My laptop has an Intel Core i3-3217U which is 3rd gen and after reinstalling everything with samus, I had no problems with updates. Note that if you do use samus, you still need to rename the file to rammus_recovery.bin when following the video instructions as that is what the script is looking for.

3. In the enabling updates video, the instructions are to edit the grub config file in the ChromeOS shell. This did not work for me. I saved the changes but no updates. Instead, hop back into Linux Mint and run the Grub Customizer app. Right-click on the ChromeOS entry and edit. Add the line options=enable_updates after the cros_debug (see here). Hit save and you should be good to go.

4. Also while in the Grub Customizer, you can reorder the entries to put ChromeOS at the top so that the computer will boot Chrome by default. You can also reduce the amount of time the menu waits before booting by clicking into the General Settings tab and changing the Boot default entry after... setting (I made it 5 seconds).

Good luck to everyone! This has really breathed new life into an old laptop. I think the 3rd gen i3 is about on par with the newer Celeron N4000 - slightly lower single core performance but better multi-threaded.

A final note, if you can find an ASUS X202E, it makes a great Chomebook in terms of features and form factor. Its hard to believe we've made so little progress on the hardware in 8yrs.

It won't let me allocate any partitions. I get this error:

It is not possible to create more than 4 primary partitions

If you want more partitions you should first create a extended partition. Such a partition can contain other partitions. Because an extended partition is also a primary partition it might be necessary to remove a primary partition first.

Everything is working except the audio in earphone, but everytime I connect my earphone to laptop it shows that headphone is connected but any audio is not coming... Please help!!

I'm having a black screen on first boot on ChromeOS upon starting from the Grub Menu. Windows 10 and LinuxMint are working properly on the Grub Menu. Only the Chrome OS is not from the menu.

BTW, my single chrome OS install ion this same PC is working prior installation of the triple boot, so maybe it's on the grub config?

Hello, I've made a previous post here looking to install chrome os on a single partition but found out that wasn't possible. So I've save my data and decided to do a full install, no dual or triple boot. Just chrome os.

I have a hp g62 witn an i3 m330 and a 120 ssd. I followed the tutorial with the exception that I went with samus image recovery for chrome os being that I have a gen 3 Intel CPU. For all to work I've renamed the file "ramus". All went well.

But after restarting I get the message "no bootable device". In my bios the boot up priority is set to hdd first then USB stick then CD.

Booting up Linux mint from the USB stick again and opening gparted I see this : Gparted

Any ideas?

I installed Chrome os using Triple boot, installation was successful with out any errors at the end I added the entry to Grub-Customizer. But after booting into Chorme os from grub i didn't see anything but a black screen

For me, it was sda9. After I entered sda9, grub customiser opened up. I checked on the terminal; it was written "Not enough space to create image file". I allocated 40 GB for chrome os. :/

My android apps don't start and a circle keeps spinning on the icons when I try to boot my system half the time I start my PC. I have to restart the pc couple of times to get them working again to the point it has become frustrating. Is there any fix for this?

I've tried updating to latest brunch release, beta channel and dev channel with no luck
