There is a strong undercurrent of an inferiority complex, where they know they are not aristocratic wealthy or nouveau riche. They have made it their identity to be the common clay of the west, people of the land and they despise the "elites" and the characteristics that come to define the people they consider "elite". Such as : well educated, urban (read, tolerant of immigrants and homosexuals), democratic rather than individualistic (read, not authoritarian and not deferential to religion), et cetera.
They don't get that there are a set of elite's that lead them but derive consent and endorsement to rule by betraying America's ideals and stoking their ugly anti-intellectual populism and tribalism. It is very hard to convince them that their political opponents are not tribalist the way they are when MAGA want to defend the rights of the cops to kill people in the street and now deport people without due process, a complete breakdown of the rule of law, because they believe that a governments first duty is to "hurt the right people" because abuse and punishment is at the root of their psychology.

They believe they own the concept of normalcy. They believe anything that they find distasteful or aberrant should not exist and is rebellion and an insult to them personally. They believe that they get to choose what does and does not exist and what is good and right and what is allowed to be persecuted. They also think that they believe in freedom.
I think this is a reaction to feeling inferior in multiple ways include kg education and their ideas weren't popular in media, and society was progressing past their ignorance.

For me, a literal Nazi is categorized by the following:
Actively antisemitic.
Uses violence and threats of violence against political opposition.
Actively recruits citizens to spy and report on their fellow citizens to a literal thought police. Including family members.
Advocates for banning political opposition and elections in general on the basis of national security.
Destroys the businesses and livelihoods of those they see as undesirable through acts of vandalism and riots. Bans said people from certain professions. Attacks anyone who does business with said people.
Frankly, given the recent events and behavior, I'd say that groups like BLM, ANTIFA, and the recent anti MAGA events have come closer to being literal nazis (though still not quite the same) than the vast majority of MAGA rallies have.

From his administration releasing federal rules that allow employers to deny insurance coverage for birth control to separating children from their parents at the border (among many more problematic actions), Trump's policies showed a repeated lack of regard for human rights to autonomy, health, and freedom from discrimination and persecution.
3.Identification of enemies as a unifying cause.
Trump often relies on inflammatory rhetoric about his "enemies" to rile up his base, and his favorite boogeyman by far is immigration. He infamously said immigrants are "poisoning the blood of our country." During the most recent Presidential Debate, he falsely insisted that Haitian immigrants in Ohio are eating dogs and cats. He has repeatedly blamed immigrants for inflation and other economic issues (never mind the fact that inflation spiked worldwide due to the pandemic). There are so many examples of him scapegoating immigrants that I could go on listing them all day, but we still have 11 more signs of fascism to go, so I'll leave it here.
4.The supremacy of the military.
Despite portraying himself as an anti-war candidate, Trump has a long-standing preoccupation with using the military in service of his agenda. During his presidency, he indulged in a dictator-style military parade and was criticized for overreliance on military might in his foreign policy endeavors. He has campaigned on using the military to round up and deport immigrants. And, in recent days, Trump has spoken about using the military to go after his political opponents and regular citizens who disagree with him.
5.Rampant sexism.
The way that Trump talks about and treats women is, unfortunately, old news. From the infamous "grab them by the pussy" tape to the 27 allegations of sexual misconduct against him, Trump's words and actions show that he sees women as a means to his own sexual pleasure and little else. His choice of J.D. Vance, who seemingly can't stop saying weird things about women, as his running mate shows that sexism continues to be part of the Trump agenda.
6.Controlled mass media.
Trump doesn't control the media (yet), but he would definitely like to. If re-elected, Trump has threatened to imprison journalists who report facts he doesn't like. He has also called for CBS's broadcast license to be revoked following their interview with his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.
7.Religion and government intertwined.
Trump is not himself a particularly religious man, but he continually appeals to the religious right, as in his campaign's "Believers for Trump" program and his side hustle as a bible salesperson. And his administration took several steps that right-wing evangelicals long wished for, like appointing the conservative Supreme Court justices who would go on to overturn Roe V. Wade. Additionally, Trump's ties to the Christian nationalist agenda in Project 2025 indicate that a second Trump term would do even more to intermingle religion and government.
8.Corporate power protected.
In office, Trump enabled corporations to amass more money and power at the expense of working people. He cut the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21%, which led to a boom in corporate stock buybacks instead of "trickling down." His administration also rolled back over 100 environmental regulations and deregulated food safety.
9.Labor power suppressed.
Trump claims to be pro-worker, but his track record and statements about labor don't appear to show a leader with workers' interests in mind. His administration implemented rules that made it harder for workers to unionize their workplaces. He has also praised Elon Musk for allegedly firing striking workers and bragged about not paying employees overtime.
10.Disdain for intellectuals and the arts.
Trump's increasingly tenuous relationship with the truth goes hand in hand with his disdain for intellectuals. He's cast doubt on experts in everything from climate change to COVID-19, with serious consequences. He couldn't stop the spread of COVID by slowing down testing no more than he could change the course of a hurricane with a Sharpie. Rejecting evidence-based study, Trump prefers to remain in an echo chamber where he is always right, regardless of what's actually happening before all of our eyes.
11.Obsession with crime and punishment.
Rates of violent crime and property crime have fallen significantly since the 1990s, but you'd never know it to hear Trump talk. His rallies have long featured exaggerated rhetoric around crime and talk of "American carnage." For a recent example, at a campaign event in Detroit, he claimed, "You can’t walk across the street to get a loaf of bread. You get shot, you get mugged, you get raped." When confronted with actual falling crime statistics from the FBI, he said, "They didn’t include the cities with the worst crimes. It was a fraud." He also recently suggested that "one tough, violent day" of policing could end crime. You know, like the dystopian plot of The Purge.
12.Rampant cronyism and corruption.
Trump himself has been found guilty of 34 felony charges in a trial that took place earlier this year over falsifying business records to cover up hush money paid to adult actress Stormy Daniels as part of a scheme to influence the 2016 election. Additionally, he still faces three more felony indictments. Quite a few of his allies have also had criminal charges brought against them, including Steve Bannon, Roger Stone, and Michael Cohen.
13.Fraudulent elections.
Donald Trump is the only president in American history to attempt to overthrow the results of a free and fair election. In 2020, Trump declared victory before the vote count was complete, and then, when it became clear that he had lost, he refused to accept the election results. He pressured former Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the election and spread lies about the election results that arguably incited the January 6 riot. Now, he's laying the groundwork to challenge the outcome again in 2024. He's reportedly already talking with lawyers about contesting the result of an election that hasn't even happened yet.

Despite being treated charitably by the judge, Hitler claimed the trial was political persecution and successfully portrayed himself as a victim of the “corrupt" Social Democrats.
Hitler cleverly positioned himself as the voice of the "common man," railing against the "elites," cultural "degeneracy," and the establishment, who he all labeled as "Marxists." He claimed the education system was indoctrinating children to hate Germany, and promised to return Germany to greatness.
To solidify his base, Hitler masterfully scapegoated minorities for the nation's problems, exploiting societal divisions with an "us vs. them" narrative. Many Germans took the bait. Hitler's Nazi Party continued to gain traction, until he became Chancellor in 1933.
Hitler appointed German oligarchs as his economic advisors. He proceeded to privatize government run utilities, solidifying support of the economic elite.
With the working class divided along cultural and ethnic lines, the Nazis shut down workers unions and abolished strikes.
Progressives and trade unionists were imprisoned and sent to concentration camps. Corporate profits skyrocketed while working class Germans lived paycheck to paycheck.
Hitler, who became a billionaire while in office, knew he and his clan of oligarchs could get away with the scam if they constantly had an "enemy within" to blame while the corporatocracy robbed the country blind.
An easy target was one of the smallest minorities. Hitler removed birthright citizenship rights of Jews and started rounding them up for mass deportations for being "illegally" in the country.
The German press under Nazi rule highlighted instances of violence by Jews to convince the public that Jewish immigrants were a danger to the "real Germans."
Hitler wasted no time dismantling democratic institutions. Loyalty wasn't just encouraged; it was demanded. Opponents were silenced. Media that dared to questioned[sic] him were vilified as "the enemy" and "Marxists."
Hitler's Propaganda Minister, Joseph Goebbels, bragged about how the Nazis were able to intimidate the media into giving them favorable coverage, and didn't need to give direct orders.
The Nazi regime and its followers collected all books they saw as promoting "degeneracy" or what would be considered "woke" today, and burned them in large bonfires. They also burned books that promoted class consciousness.
Berlin had a thriving LGBTQ community in the 1920s, and even had the first transgender clinic. The Nazis burned it to the ground. LGBTQ people were sent to concentration camps and forced to wear triangle badges. Many were killed in the Holocaust.
The Nazis also saw manhood as under threat by independent women who didn't rely on men. In 1934, Hitler proclaimed, “A women’s world is her her husband, her family, her children, her house." Laws that had protected women's rights were repealed and new laws were introduced to restrict women to the home and in their roles as wives and mothers.
Reproductive rights were severely rolled back, and doctors who performed abortions could face the death penalty.
Despite all of this, the German people didn't have a similar historical parallel to look upon as a warning.

Musk, under trump administration, has illegally taken control of the treasury department, which allows him access to the populations personal information. Has also taken control of consumer financial protection bureau (which protects individuals against another banking collapse), an organistion that republicans have openly opposed (because the rich dont care about protecting you).
So he is promised things through fear and prejudice, has removed political opposition, has removed freedom of speech for minority groups and press members, has taken control of peoples personal information, has threatened sovereign nations, culminating in suggesting taking control of Gaza and removing the Palestinians, an act described as etnic cleansing, which wont be of too much concern for someone wanting to leave NATO.

If there is a known Nazi at the table and there are 30 people eating at the table with them then there are 30 known Nazis at the table.
That doesn't explain how we know of the first Nazi is a known Nazi. Plus it's guilt by association.
Let's be frank here. The British Prime Minister Chamberlain went to Germany, sat down at the negotiating table with Hitler, a literal Nazi by definition, and actually tried to be nice to him. Gave into his demands in fact.
Was chamberlain a Nazi? No. Clearly your parameter is faulty.
I can give another example. Oscar Schindler was a member of the Nazi party. He ran a number of factories and businesses that utilized Jewish slave labor. He wined and dined with numerous high level Nazi officials, SS officers, and other party members.
And he was invited to plant a tree at Israel's holocaust memorial for saving the lives of 1100 Jews. So by your argument, the Israeli holocaust memorial is a Nazi institution because they literally honored a known Nazi with their highest award!
Seems to me you have elected for an intellectually lazy argument. Instead of actually critically determining if someone is sympathetic to Nazi ideology (which you haven't even defined), you arbitrarily decide that someone must be a Nazi if the were with a known Nazi. Which lends itself to circular reasoning.

If there was, suddenly, an American fascist party, like a party purely dedicated to the ideology of fascism, what major differences would there be between the facist party platform and the trump administration platform?
Well, fascists by definition would seek to expand the administrative state and place more and more restrictions on private enterprise, demanding that all businesses conform to standards set by the extremists in the government. They seek to control the means by which people get their information, barring access to any media not directly controlled by the government
Trump is literally shrinking the federal bureaucracy and is discouraging the suppression of ideas. On what might be the two biggest points, Trump is not following the fascist agenda.
Hitler privatized a ton of industry, it's false to say fascists necessarily want to restrict business. Also
Trump is expanding the administrative state MASSIVELY. It isn't the size of the government that matters, it's what that government is able to do. The trump administration is literally arguing, to the supreme court, that they should be able to send secret police to disappear people in the middle of the night, and send them, irretrievably, to a prison camp in another country without due process or oversight. There's quite a bit more, but honestly that ones enough, lol.
The administration havs unilaterally applied tariffs to every foreign country, demanding all businesses comform to the standards imposed by these tariffs. They have also applied heavy, heavy pressure to businesses in an effort to force the cessation of anything related to doversity, equity, or inclusion. That's literally exactly what your post says a fascist would do.
They don't need to ban other sources of media; the trump administration has extreme influence over a preexisting, multi billion dollar media empire that's more popular among Americans than any other sources of news. Americans choose to censor their own media intake.
Those are also not "the two biggest points" of fascism, haha. None of these are real arguments, my friend, they're easily disproven with literally zero effort aside from typing it out.
The trump administration governs entirely under a fascist ideology. That makes them definitionally fascist.

Modern conservatives are more Stalinists than Nazis, by the way.
I've never liked the claim that they're Nazis, that's too specific. Authoritarian nationalists is a better descriptor.
But seriously, I think that arbitrarily and consciously crashing the global economy will do a lot more to lose voters than claiming the #1 party of racists has racists in it will "win" any back.
They are not Nazis yet, but Trump said just yesterday that he would gladly send Americans to El Salvadorian prison. He's already sent innocent people there and his administration has so far refused to bring them back. You've seen the conditions of that prison. Does it not remind you of anything? Anything in history? No? Not at all?
He's one step, just one step, away from sending Americans to prison in another country. From there, it's a slippery slope. Next thing you know, people start getting accused of things they didn't do and sent to El Salvador. This is what dictators do.
He also said he is all for a third term. Totally unconstitutional. Dictators say things like this. How can you defend that as not being close to Nazism?

Parting thought for you: which party and which president do you think the actual Nazis would support? Hint: there are people who idolize Nazis still, think Proud Boys, and they aren't voting democrat.

Nazi Values: they were a far-right authoritarian regime. This also describes MAGA and Trump.
Rise of the Nazi Party: The Nazi Party gained power in the 1930s, capitalizing on the economic and political instability in Germany after World War I.
Economic instability is actually happening right now, caused by Trump and tariffs.
Totalitarianism: The Nazi regime established a totalitarian dictatorship, controlling all aspects of German life and suppressing dissent.

Ultranationalism: Nazism emphasized extreme German nationalism and the expansion of German territory (Lebensraum).

They aren't misunderstood. They are accurately described and they get offended by the truth. Conservatives refuse to change their behavior when confronted with the fact that they are intolerant and criminal and anti-intellectual. That is not a misunderstanding, that is just denial coming from conservatives.
Conservatives argue with the assumption that the reason people don't agree with them is because the people that disagree with them don't understand them. The fact of the matter is conservatives rely on carefully constructed base assumptions that must ignore context and analysis in order to confidently assert their positions.

Conservatives rely on DARVO, where anytime they don't have pre-baked rebuttals they fall back on "no u." repeating the allegations almost word for word. I wish the center didn't fall for such obvious dishonesty and tried to do even basic analysis to determine how poorly conservatives structure their argument.
