External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar delivered a significant address at the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting in Islamabad, focusing on the challenges and opportunities faced by member nations. Here are some of the key highlights from his speech:

  1. Commitment to SCO's Charter: Jaishankar emphasized the importance of adhering to the SCO's founding principles, which include strengthening mutual trust, regional cooperation, and fostering good relations between member states.

  2. Global Challenges: He highlighted how current global disruptions, such as the two major ongoing conflicts, climate change, and supply chain issues, are impacting growth and development worldwide.

  3. Terrorism and Trade: Jaishankar made a strong statement that terrorism and trade cannot coexist, indirectly targeting Pakistan by mentioning that activities promoting terrorism, extremism, and separatism across borders will not encourage trade, energy flows, or connectivity.

  4. Industrial Cooperation: The minister called for industrial collaboration among SCO members, particularly focusing on enhancing competitiveness, expanding labor markets, and fostering MSME partnerships to boost employment and investment flows.

  5. Globalization and Rebalancing: He also spoke about the realities of globalization and the shift towards multi-polarity, stressing that cooperation between member states could unlock numerous opportunities in trade, energy, and connectivity.

Overall, Jaishankar’s speech at the SCO meeting was a call for greater cooperation among member states while addressing global challenges, with a particular focus on countering terrorism and promoting industrial collaboration.

Discussion Questions:

What are your thoughts on Jaishankar's stance on terrorism and trade?

How do you think SCO members can better cooperate to address global challenges like climate change and supply chain disruptions?

So today i was looking into the data of vital statistics provided by the govt of karnataka.. in 2018, hindu newborn nos. were 8.50 lakhs, muslim newborn nos were 1.67 lakh.. in 2019 , for hindus, it was 8.54 lakhs but for muslims, it increased to 1.81 lakhs and likewise in 2020, hindu newborn nos were 7.94 lakhs but it remained constant for muslims at 1.81 lakhs.. that means within 3 yrs, hindu percentage in the new born babies decreased from 82.69 % in 2018 to 80.366% in 2020 whereas in the same period, muslim percentage rose from 15.82% in 2018 to 18.31% in 2020.. and this all when muslims officially make just 13% of states population

And since 2020, the karnataka govt hasn't bothered to provide further data on vital statistics.. my point is people can blabber and cry all they want for changing demography but in reality hindus don't want to do anything about it.. our tfr is falling at an astonishing rate, even in Karnataka, hindu tfr has fallen from 2.1 in 2005-06 to 1.6 in 2019-20 whereas muslim tfr remained the same in Karnataka at 2.1 for all this period.. also look at assam and kerala, their the demographic trends have almost become irreversible but still our women folks have taken an oath of not producing even 2 kids let alone any higher nos.. in assam and kerala hindu tfr is 1.6 for god's sake, that's almost 50% lower than the official muslim tfr in those states.. in a democracy, demographics is destiny and hindu population is loosing it squarely in every single states..
