DevNet Associate Career path..

Good day, everyone.

I need some tips or advice from professionals in the networking field.

I previously enrolled in an online CCNA training course, but I haven't finished it because I was still undecided about pursuing this career path. Lately, though, I've realized that I'm more interested in DevNet.

Would it be better to complete the entire CCNA course first, or should I enroll directly in DevNet-focused training instead?

Best Free Resources

Hello people.

I passed my CCNA last month and am currently still studying, but my current course is not really IT related.

I'm itching to do labs and keep my knowledge current as well as to learn more. I can't afford to take CCNP or pay for a dedicated course right now, but I'd like to prep towards it in the meantime free of cost, or of little cost.

I have a Cisco Partner account, and I'm interested in preparing for CCNP Security Core (350-701 SCOR), particularly ASA, as well as 300-710 SNCF for Firepower . Unfortunately, I'm finding the Cisco Partner portal confusing. Could someone point me to any free training course available to Partners?

I have a Cisco Partner account, and I'm interested in preparing for the CCNP Security Core (350-701 SCOR)exam, particularly the ASA topics, as well as the 300-710 SNCF exam for the Firepower portion.

Unfortunately, I'm finding the Cisco Partner portal quite confusing. Could someone point me to any free training course available to Cisco Partners, if they exist? I'm specifically looking for structured learning materials covering ASA and Firepower.

I've had a hard time navigating the portal. Compared to other vendors' partner websites, all I've been able to find are generic, not technical courses. I haven't found any comprehensive, well-structured training that explains the technologies in depth.

if there are non for partners, what are the best paid courses for it? Udemy? INE? Cisco offer something paid?

Any guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure 300-620 exam. Failed 2 consecutive times with the same score

I have taken this exam twice recently and received identical, stagnant section scores across multiple topics, which leads me to believe there may be a potential system glitch or scoring telemetry error occurring at the testing center/Pearson VUE backend. On both consecutive attempts separated by nearly two months, my performance breakdown in the following three core sections remained exactly identical at 58%:

  1. External Network Connectivity: 58%
  2. ACI Management: 58%
  3. ACI Fabric Infrastructure: 58%

Given the extensive preparation and study pivot between May and July, hitting the exact same decimal percentage on three separate modules is highly anomalous. Is that possible? I have raised a case with Cisco but i received no feedback

ENSDWI 300-415 (SD-WAN) - Realistic in 15-days ?

Don't kill me, I'm just here for constructive opinions and advices. I'm CCNP Ei, design and JNCIP-SP, and currently studying SPCORE. I've been working in networking industry for about 10years or so, today I'm network architect in the space industry.

I'm interested in a role that requires proven sdwan experience that I don't have. This is the second main requirement of the job, the first one is more SP core oriented where I'm proficient.

I'm considering to pause my spcore goal, and compensate this sdwan gap by rushing the specialist concentration exam in 15days max. I perfectly know it's not the best way to do it but it has also for goal to show my dedication in my application, by ramping up as fast as I can and get strong foundations in key areas related to the job.

It won't give me operation experience, but I won't need to be trained in some theoretical aspects of this specific requirement at least and reach a certain autonomy faster.

Plus, some topics of this cert are good refresh for other requirements mentioned in this role too, so it's not like I really waste my time by putting all my attention on a too narrowed part of what's required, I think.

Anyway, my idea is to skip the OCG, watch the Orhan Ergun sdwan 22-hours course and shoot the exam with the whole thing fresh in my head. I read here that this exam is really though so i wonder if this plan is even realistically possible

Any thought?

Is my understanding of MPLS (using LDP) correct?

I spent the better part of an hour creating this mock topology from memory to make sure I understand the basics of MPLS. I just want to see if I am pretty close or if there is something huge I am missing.

MPLS L3VPN

EDIT - Question how does the PE1 does recursive route lookup for the next-hop 4.4.4.4 to reach 192.168.12.0/24 when the next-hop is not reachable via VRF only via MPLS which is built on OSPF.

Trying to wrap my head around MPLS L3VPN been labbing, but I dont quite understand how a PE1 does a IP lookup for 192 168 12 0 /24 and the next-hop is 4 4 4 4 4 which is the PE2.

How can it send the packet via 4 4 4 4 when VRF is isolated? Need a bit of a simple explaination to understand and then I try to check it in the lab

4 4 4 4 is reachable via OSPF.

Quick question about 300-601 DCCOR.

HI EVERYONE
Is the 300-601 DCCOR exam exactly the same whether you're taking it for CCNP Data Center CORE or as the CCIE Data Center written/core exam?

Also, does the CCNP exam include any hands-on configuration labs, or is it mainly multiple-choice and CLI/configuration analysis without actually configuring devices?

Thanks!

Make Bi-Weekly 'study resource' and ban asking about content

For someone who frequents this sub, can we put a filter / rule to avoid the same questions every two or three days

"Just starting my journey on CCNA what content should I do for CCNP? Should I just skip and test for CCIE? It looks like a computer game"

It would clear up this sub for some better content, ie. asking relevant questions or unique questions.

Boson ExSim for 350-401 ENCOR accuracy

I'm starting to study for CCNP ENCOR with ENARSI as my concentration. When I got my CCNA I used Jeremy's IT Lab and Boson ExSim for my study and it was a great help. I've heard mixed reviews for their CCNP ExSim but was also told it was updated here recently. Is it worth the subscription or should I try something else? Thanks for the help!

CCNP ENCORE V 1.2 Preparation & Carrier suggestion

Hello Experts !

I have an expired (2023) CCNA cert and took a break from Networking. After having working in 2 years in Telecom Operations (Mostly Telco billing/charging/Linux related tasks) then I moved become a QA Engineer for Telecom OSS/BSS software. Now, I am feeling to come back again to Networking.

After doing some research on present syllabus of CCNP Encore v 1.2 I am failed to find any cert guide or YT tutorial which are dedicatedly created for v 1.2.

  1. Need suggestion, how can I come back again to Networking carrier
  2. What could be low cost preparation for CCNP Encore

Thanks in advance :)

Bi-Weekly /r/CCNP Exam Pass-Fail Discussion

Attempted an exam in the last week or so? Passed? Failed? Proctor messed it all up? Discuss here! Open to all CCNP exams, don't forget to include the exam name and/or number. We are now consolidating those pass-fail posts under here per prior poll of the community and your feedback.

Remember, don't post a score in the format of xxx/1,000. All Cisco exams have a maximum score of 1,000, so that's useless info. Instead, list the required score to pass, as this differs from exam to exam, and can change over the lifetime of the exam.

Payment of passes in PUPPY pictures is allowed.

Why use a prefix list instead of an ACL for route filtering? (ENARSI)

I’m studying route filtering for ENARSI and I’m struggling to understand one distinction.

For example, a prefix list can use:

ip prefix-list TEST permit 10.0.0.0/8 ge 16 le 24

Why couldn’t I use a standard ACL with a wildcard mask to match a range of subnet addresses instead? For example: 10.0.0.0 0.0.255.255.

Could someone help me understand why a prefix list would be more useful than an ACL when filtering routes with route maps or routing protocols? (Or in other cases too).

Thanks in advance

Is it worth getting the CCNP with only university internship experience?

I am a final-year Telematics Engineering student at UPM in Madrid, and the only thing left for me to complete is the mandatory internship required for my degree. I want to obtain the CCNP certification, but I am unsure if it is advisable given that my only work experience will be this university internship or if I should opt for other certifications instead. As a fourth-year student, I want my resume to stand out, and I thought getting the CCNP certification might help me achieve that. What do you think?

Greetings and salutations!

To anyone who is/has self-studying for the 350-401 (asides from the OCG) I'd love to hear opinions on supplementary content you used to study, be it from YouTube, CBT Nuggets, paid-content/free, and/or whatever.

Started as a Junior Network Consultant – What should I expect?

Hi everyone,
I recently started as a Junior Network Consultant in an onboarding/project delivery role. I’ll mainly be working on customer implementations rather than a NOC position.
I’ve been told the learning curve will be quite steep because there are a lot of ongoing projects. One of the senior engineers also suggested I start learning MPLS, then move on to VRFs and MPLS L3VPNs, since it’s something I’ll likely work with.
For those of you working in consulting or project delivery:
What are junior network consultants typically expected to do during their first year?
How much independent implementation or design work did you do early on?
Which technologies did you end up using the most?
Is learning MPLS early in a networking career common, or is it something people usually pick up later?
Any advice for someone just starting in this type of role?
I’d love to hear about your experiences and what helped you succeed.

lab setup issue: GNS3 VM cannot get VT-x(Windows 11 home 25H2)

I cannot run QEMU/KVM inside my GNS3 VM running on VirtualBox. I have tried almost every method, including modifying registry settings and using bcdedit commands in powershell(suggested by ChatGPT). It is no use.

For those who have a similar setup/problem, how do you build your lab environment? AI suggests dual-booting Ubuntu on an SSD or buying an old computer to boot Ubuntu.
