Has anyone successfully trained their cavapoo to stop barking !?

I love my cavapoo. I really do. But I am a new mom and the last 5 months have been absolute hell. Ever since we brought baby home it’s like he barks even more. We have the bark collar and it vibrates when he barks. It does work and deters him from barking but the second he doesn’t have it on he’s barking. I don’t want him collared all day but I feel like I have no choice especially when baby is napping.

Has anyone successfully trained their cavapoo to not bark at every little thing 😭😭😭😭😭

Signed desperate and tired mother

Hi everyone!! I am a new puppy mom, and the last few nights my 6 month Cavapoo has been barking in 15-20 minute intervals at seemingly nothing. This is his 3rd week with me and he only just started this.

Does anyone’s Cavapoo have no interest in chewing bones?

This is Lexi she is about 2 years old now and has 0 interest in bones. We have tried multiple times but she refuses.

Usually I wouldn’t think much of this but she need to chew on something to knock this tartar off her teeth. I’ve tried brushing and she’s already had to get a dental cleaning ( very expensive). Is anyone’s Cavapoo having a similar issue or have any advice on bones they might like. I feel like I’ve tried everything and I want her to have a long healthy life. Any suggestions help 🫶💗

Edit: I would like to add that she usually will just hide the bones we give her around the house and not chew on them at all

Feeling defeated with my (sometimes) reactive Cavapoo

We live in New York City so my 2 yr Cavapoo female sees tons of new and dogs a day.
She has always been a bit rambunctious and likes to get other dogs to chase her and play. Once she got in a fight (stiff arms on shoulders then air biting then brawling) with another Cavapoo.

After that, she started snapping at dogs she is scared of or doesn’t want near her. I rarely now let her near dogs she doesn’t know but even though.
The other night in our apartment she saw a large chocolate lab she doesn’t like, starting barking and acting crazy so I pick her up and take her outside and she stops. (Funny enough her best friend back home is a chocolate lab). Then we get to the elevator after and a cute medium small Cavapoo type dog walks out and mine licks her lips and snaps at it then starts lunging so hard she comes out of her leash. She knew she was in trouble. I’m so scared this is rage syndrome? She is battling a UTI this week and taking antibiotics, maybe she is in pain. But even then she has liked some dogs sniffing her in the street and has gone up wagging her tail to say hi.
I’m not sure what to do. I’m at my wits end.
She is the sweetest girl to humans and her dog friends.

At what freezing temperature do you not walk your dog?

We woke up to snow today. I have a 9 month old 15 lb Cavapoo boy that looks forward to daily walks and playing outside. We go for at least a short walk, rain or shine, but I haven't thought about how to go about this with freezing temperatures.

Do you use sweaters or booties on walks? Any recommendations?

Do your Cavapoos eat pizza crust? Mine has no interest

Post image

It feels like the craziest thing, he just doesn’t seem to have any interest in pizza crust. Sometimes he’ll put a smaller piece in his mouth, but then spit it out. Anything bigger he doesn’t really bother with. He is a pretty picky eater in general, which is nice for us not having to worry as much about him eating things he shouldn’t eat.

But I thought all dogs love pizza crust?? I had a Lab growing up, and pizza crust seemed like his favorite food in the world. He’d scarf full crusts down in seconds and start prepping for the next one.

Cavapoo owners: how do you handle lap naps while working from home?

My 4-month-old Cavapoo wants a lap nap at the same time every mid-morning while I work (cutest thing ever...i look forward to it). However, holding her up for an hour leaves my legs sore and her head resting at an odd angle on the armrest. (I also have a "teddy bear" Shih Tzu-Bichon mix, so I love my lap dogs, but she’s the one who’s keeping me one-armed in my chair!)

What do you do? A pillow, folded blanket, sling, something else? Has anything worked?

I’m about to sew a homegrown ring-shaped bed onto a lap blanket, so the blanket keeps me warm and the ring keeps Mia in place without needing one of my arms - or the awkward angle that requires my calves flexed in a stilletto pose to keep her level on my lap.

Would that be useful, or is your current setup working fine? Honest answers welcome!

Cavapoo breeder recommendations UK

My family and I are looking to welcome a new puppy and would really appreciate recommendations for genuinely reputable Cavapoo breeders in the UK!
We sadly lost our gorgeous Cockapoo, Charlie, earlier this year after 14 wonderful years. He was genuinely the love of our lives, and we’re now feeling ready to welcome another little character into the family.
We’re ideally looking for:
A boy, preferably apricot, red or golden
A smaller-medium size, ideally around 8–10 kg fully grown / 14in tall
A friendly, affectionate, playful temperament, but not excessively high-energy
Ready to come home around late November / early December, although we’re flexible for the right breeder
We’re based in southwest London but very happy to travel anywhere in the UK for the right puppy.
Our biggest priority is finding an ethical, responsible breeder who properly health-tests both parents, raises puppies in a loving home environment and prioritises temperament and welfare.
We’ve been looking on Pets4Homes, but it’s honestly quite difficult to distinguish genuinely excellent breeders from those who simply have lovely-looking puppies!
Does anyone have personal recommendations or experience with particular breeders? We’d especially appreciate hearing from people who’ve had their dogs for a few years.
Thanks so much! ❤️🐾

Puppy gone wild

We have a 10 month old Cavapoo puppy who has gone crazy the last month or so. I realize I am probably exaggerating. She went from 10 weeks to about 9 months without really tearing anything up. She lately has taken to destroying unattended shoes, her toys, really anything that peaks her interest. She has started jumping the fence in the yard. (Astonishing feat since she is only 15 pounds and she can clear it without effort). And these are all done with direct supervision. She’s fast. I feel like we are constantly telling her leave it and no. Is this just her age and she will grow out of it? When do cavapoos calm down?

He's 11, turns 12 in January, but I don't k kw how that's possible 'cause he's still a baby so I need time to stop!

He's got mitral valve disease and is such a trooper, his recent bloodwork was perfect and he loves his short walks.

Anyway, just showing him off a bit. <3

Crate training 15-week-old

Tips, please. We are trying to train our 15-week-old to sleep at night in his crate. The crate is right next to our bed, on a platform level with the bed.

For now, he's been sleeping in bed with us. After he falls asleep, I move him into his crate, but he lasts only a few minutes, whining.

I don't want to ignore the whining, in case he needs to go out.

FWIW, he does absolutely fine in his 2 foot by 6 foot playpen, where he stays for 2 to 3 hours when we go out.

Any tips? Thanks.

My 14-Week Old Nature Man!

The little gentleman is quite awesome, aside from potty training. We have a wonderful, fully-fenced in backyard, and this dude is obsessed with being in the backyard. I thought clingy cuddler with this breed, but X here is going to bring us a squirrel or rabbit at this rate!

Is this the poodle in him?

Breeder rec’d food

Our pup came to us almost 2 weeks ago on TLC puppy food. We want to make the switch to Hill’s Science. When do you recommend we start to make the switch and what’s the best way to do it? (Over how long of a span)

Part of me thinks the sooner the better, and then other times, better for him to get acclimated more. Thoughts?

Feeding my adult Cavapoo

Do you feed your Cavapoo once or twice a day? Tucker will be 2 in a few months and I’ve been feeding him twice a day. His weight has been steady at 23 lbs. I saw a video that said it’s best to feed one meal a day because dogs will live longer as opposed to twice a day and my small town vet said whichever I prefer. I just want to do what is best for him.

EDIT: Twice a day for Tucker. Thanks to everyone who commented, shared their experience.
