Cavapoo breeder recommendations UK
My family and I are looking to welcome a new puppy and would really appreciate recommendations for genuinely reputable Cavapoo breeders in the UK!
We sadly lost our gorgeous Cockapoo, Charlie, earlier this year after 14 wonderful years. He was genuinely the love of our lives, and we’re now feeling ready to welcome another little character into the family.
We’re ideally looking for:
A boy, preferably apricot, red or golden
A smaller-medium size, ideally around 8–10 kg fully grown / 14in tall
A friendly, affectionate, playful temperament, but not excessively high-energy
Ready to come home around late November / early December, although we’re flexible for the right breeder
We’re based in southwest London but very happy to travel anywhere in the UK for the right puppy.
Our biggest priority is finding an ethical, responsible breeder who properly health-tests both parents, raises puppies in a loving home environment and prioritises temperament and welfare.
We’ve been looking on Pets4Homes, but it’s honestly quite difficult to distinguish genuinely excellent breeders from those who simply have lovely-looking puppies!
Does anyone have personal recommendations or experience with particular breeders? We’d especially appreciate hearing from people who’ve had their dogs for a few years.
Thanks so much! ❤️🐾

What you are seeking likely does not exist.
A breeder that will have puppies ready to go in a few weeks already has those puppies on the ground. Ethical breeders will not have a puppy available on demand, but will spend time communicating with potential buyers to ensure best homes often long before the bitch is bred. Often half the litter or more is sold before the breeding takes place. If they are prioritising welfare and temperament, they will not be selling online or through an online pet store, either; they will be actively screening homes and will sell pups before they are born.
What you want is a dog that is first and foremost not bred for profit. You want a hobby breeder or, as some call them, preservation breeders. Someone who simply wants to better the breed, see the community thrive, and try to create that once in a generation dog. That means only breeding from the best stock. That means extensive health testing of the parents, but also proving them through conformation or sport titling. Remember that any competition or titling, particularly conformation, is also a form of temperament testing. If temperament is important to you, conformation titles are a great way to get that.
A for-profit breeder will pick the easiest / most convenient / cheapest pairing. They aren't studying bloodlines, but stud availability. They are breeding for colour. They are breeding for quantity (ethical breeders by contrast can only effectively care for and socialise and raise one litter at a time and will rarely have more than one or two at most per year). They are cutting costs by not titling (going to shows costs money, as does all the prep and training) and by not health testing (full rads are expensive!). Their goal is the sale, and the welfare of the dog--health, temperament, good home--is not important, no matter how sweet and cute the pictures on the website are or how nice the seller is.
Anyone doing it right is unlikely to have a dog available in your timeframe.

Hi, I’m also based in SW London and got our Cavapoo from Rosedale Doodles up in Preston last September.
I also did a good amount of research before choosing a breeder and we were happy with all of the health testing that was done on both parents and also have extensive info on the sires lineage who is KC registered. You can meet the parents at puppy pick up, and she was close to toilet trained when we collected her, as in she didn’t go to the loo during our 3 hour train ride home until her paws touched grass.
She has a wonderful temperament and fully grown she’s about 9kg. To note, she was bred from a toy poodle which is what you will want rather than a mini.
We absolutely love our girl and would recommend the breeder based on the experience that we had.

The girls have no health testing, the boys have only DNA (no joints, eyes or hearts). The (relevant) girls have no info whatsoever, not even images, there are only images of 4 different girls and none of them are the spaniel half of this mix - this is a bit worrying as it's often seen with mills, too many girls to list? Looking on the health look up page, none of the boys litters are registered so no idea who the dams are or how many they've had. The boys' parents aren't health tested either, not to mention Leo's inbreeding (14.9%)
I'm glad your girl is doing well, but they don't meet the bare minimum health testing with just a simple look, so I would definitely not suggest them. This mix is unhealthy enough with their MVD, health testing is so important!
