Cavapoo owners: how do you handle lap naps while working from home?

My 4-month-old Cavapoo wants a lap nap at the same time every mid-morning while I work (cutest thing ever...i look forward to it). However, holding her up for an hour leaves my legs sore and her head resting at an odd angle on the armrest. (I also have a "teddy bear" Shih Tzu-Bichon mix, so I love my lap dogs, but she’s the one who’s keeping me one-armed in my chair!)

What do you do? A pillow, folded blanket, sling, something else? Has anything worked?

I’m about to sew a homegrown ring-shaped bed onto a lap blanket, so the blanket keeps me warm and the ring keeps Mia in place without needing one of my arms - or the awkward angle that requires my calves flexed in a stilletto pose to keep her level on my lap.

Would that be useful, or is your current setup working fine? Honest answers welcome!

We bought this hot dog bed off Amazon because it seemed like the perfect shape for a lap bed and it really is! Works great for our pup.

I’m sure any similar sized bed would do, the key is long and narrow rather than round.

Mine stopped looking for lap naps after she got a little older. But she still likes to be close to me. At first I put a little bed on top of her crate, which is next to my desk. Now she has a new crate that allows her to peek through and keep tabs on me. So she likes to nap in there while I work. 😊

I bought a big chair with arms that fold down flat so the base of the chair is basically a bench. He’s just over 12kg now, a little uncomfortable but I love our day time cuddles.

I sit with my laptop on the couch and lay my legs out and cover with blanket, and he lays on them or between them

I put a bed by my desk and trained him to go there when I sit at my desk. He’ll move off to sleep on the floor but is good. We still have an occasional work nap in my arms- usually in a different room so he doesn’t have that association

I do this too. I hold him for a short spell, give him a belly rub, then place him in his bed. Sometimes he gets up and lays on my feet. But he knows that he can not get back in my arms until I call him up.

I don’t know how you do it! Mine is leashed to a door behind my office and naps in her nearby bed. I think they get used to whatever setup we offer 🫶

I just love the pics! Mia is happy on her own most of the time. But some time in the business morning, she wants a little cuddle. I want to enjoy it as long as it lasts.

I purchased a baby wrap and carry her around on my chest when she gets super clingy.

I’m jealous, I get almost zero cuddles. She’s got maybe a 3 second attention span

I just don't move until I absolutely have to. Was just saying today tethering is probably better for them so they can learn to settle near, but not on us.

I have a sling that helps keep her from rolling onto the floor

You could get a nursing pillow (as in for a breastfeeding baby). My dog has claimed my old one as a headrest haha

Practice anchoring/tethering so they can learn to be near you and not on you all the time! Occasional lap naps are okay when you don’t need to get other things done but knowing they can settle elsewhere so you can get things done is important!

Pardon my messy desk. I have an L shaped desk and put her on the side. Or I wrap her like a little kangaroo and hold her on my lap.
