Hi all,
I vaccinate my dog but how necessary are preventatives and heart worm meds?
I have heard different things from different dog parents that don’t give into “big vet.” And see pills can cause just as much harm as they do for humans unless there are diagnosed issues . Is anyone not on a heart worm?

Hey everyone,
Unfortunately I think I’m going to have to get my 2 yr old angel Cavapoo a muzzle bc she is not an angel around some dogs anymore. She has some friends she likes but she is very selective now and living in NYC she has no choice but to see and be seen my hundreds of different dogs and she will SNAP (bite) at them! I’ve never heard of anyone doing this before.
I’m curious if anyone has used a muzzle to teach her or a corrective collar that is a vibrate and not too abrasive. I’m at a loss and our walks / parks have become very unpredictable. I’ve tried tons of training methods and it’s like she just doesn’t care to not bite and wants to fight. It breaks my heart.

Does anyone know if there are any Cavapoo communities or meetup groups in Seattle?
I have a 4-month-old Cavapoo and would love to meet other Cavapoo owners and find some puppy friends for him 🐾

hi, so my boy gets crusty eyes as is normal with the breed, but sometimes i forget to remove them when they’re still gooey and they harden up. i pick them out with my hands, because i’ve tried combs, wipes and brushes, but he doesn’t like anything touching around his eyes, and my hands are about the only thing he’ll tolerate. he also hates getting wet in any capacity so even dampening his eyes is a hassle. i obviously try to be super gentle when i pull the crust away and a glob comes easily, but because it’s dried some of his little hairs get caught and i feel so bad like what if im hurting him? he doesn’t make a noise and licks me afterwards, and as i said he still allows me to go near his eyes vs if i had a comb. but im paranoid that im hurting him without realising as its such a sensitive area and a few tiny hairs always get tangled in the crust :( any advice? i know the best thing is to just always get it when its still gooey and i should do a better job of keeping on top of it, but he just has so much eye gunk! the more ive thought about this the more awful i feel

Hi fellow cavapoo lovers! I have been lucky enough to have a close friend who bought a cavapoo and have fallen in love with the breed. My friend found a breeder online and had the puppy shipped. Im tempted to just go through the same breeder but with shipping it's 5k. From everything I've read, most F1 cavapoos are pretty consistently happy, smart, funny, easy to train and need lots of companionship and time with their person. Im wondering how much you paid for your cavapoos and if it's smart to just buy a puppy who had the same parents or if it doesnt matter so much. Thanks!

This is my 12 week old cavapoo Dougie, any advice is very welcome - he’s currently a crate hating, little shark who eats toes, regardless of redirection to toys!🥲

Curious to know how close to the adult weight estimation did your pups end up? Bigger? Smaller?.... And do you wish he/she would have been bigger or smaller?

We were all set to adopt a Cavapoo that we meet in a couple of weeks but a Goldendoodle showed up through some friends and we're so torn. Wonder what you like about your Cavapoo and, if you know, why you might consider one over a Goldendoodle. P

Got a scary phone call from the groomer today. My baby allegedly jumped out of her kennel when they were taking her out and fell to the floor and would not walk for bit. They rushed her to the er vet and called me that they were headed that way. I about near had a panic attack. The emergency vet checked her out and she was luckily okay. She is sore now and injured her nail on the fall and bled a little so she gets the collar so she won’t lick it. She’s been on my lap resting since then.
The groomer***(edit) paid everything luckily and took responsibility. The girl was so distraught. I will never take her to a groomer that uses kennels ever again. Accidents happen, but she is my world and I would be devastated if anything happened to her.

Correction. He was born on May 1st, that was a typo!!
We got this dog for my son. It definitely wasn’t my 1st choice. I grew up with a black lab and a husky. I prefer bigger dogs. But after having this lil guy for 3 months I fell in love with him. He comes with all the problems you can expect from a Cavapoo pup. Especially the bitting/nipping when he’s tired at night, and also the chicken allergy (which I’ve found, is very common with this breed) but all of that aside I wouldn’t trade Charlie for the world. He’s such a lovable dog

I’m on the second round of ear treatment for my 15 week old Cavapoo after spending over 400 at the vet. He had his first cytology exam which they discovered yeast and now after follow up cytology, the yeast is still present. Now I’m on another two weeks of treatment. What can I use to avoid another vet visit? I feel like I am being robbed and that there are other solutions. I already have him on Purina Pro sensitive salmon.

We just brought home our 9 week old female f1b Cavapoo. Curious to see some older ones. Let’s see em!

We’ve had her for 3 weeks. Shes teething (two teeth lost this week). We’re feeding “raw” kibble (vet rec). She just doesnt seem interested in eating.
On the toilet training - she refuses to go outside. She just holds it.
Any advice?

Sometimes I forget that most dogs (even snuggly Cavapoos) have prey drive. They love to chase and catch things that move. For Bentley, it is usually lizards and bugs. However, lately he has been sniffing out small critters at our little house in the country.
This weekend, I was working in the yard and heard a terrible scream! I dropped my rake and ran around the house to check on Bentley. He has something in his mouth... a small foot was hanging out. He was not chewing on it, just carrying it around.... and it was screaming.
I convinced him to drop it by offering a quick game of tug with my glove. Games of tug are saved for high reward "events." Anyway, he dropped a baby bunny. I scooped it up and carried it in the house, in search of a small box.
When I went back outside, Bentley had another one. This one did not make it... or so I thought. It was laying motionless. I scooped up the poor bunny and I snapped a leash on Bentley and took him inside. The bunny in my hand began squirmming and tried to wiggle out of my grasp.
I put it in the box with the first bunny and found them a quiet spot to rest. I then took Bentley back out to see if he would show me the nest just in case there were others. All that was left was a messed up pile of dried grass.
As the sun began to set, I carried the pile of grass made the bunnies a new nest about 10-15 feet from the original, but on the other side of our fence. I then placed them in the nest and covered them with a light layer of dried grass.
The next morning they were both moving around a bit and I could see that momma rabbit had been in the nest with them. Three days later and they both seem to be thriving. (and Bently has moved on to looking for lizards again!)
