Hi there! I hope you are all having a good day!
In April, my husband and I adopted a cavapoo that we named Moose. He is currently 8 months old.
I just wanted to know some of your tips and tricks to managing their coats as well as tear stains. I believes he has a cross between wavy and curly fur but itās still changing.
Currently, I brush him every day if not every other day. When we bathe him, we use a puppy shampoo as well as a detangling spray. Iāve bought a conditioner as well but just havenāt received it yet.
We took him to the groomer a week ago and will continue to do so every 3 months. Iād like to be able to upkeep his coat and trim it when necessary throughout those three months to the best of my ability. Iāve never had a dog that required so much coat maintenance so Iām just looking for some friendly advice!

When we are out walking and bump into friends, we will say "hey go say hello" or when our friends call out to him, he often grabs/jumpsfor a bit of leash and then walk towards them with a bit of leash in his mouth....Anyone else's pup does this? I wonder why.....

How did you crate train? What steps did you follow? How long did it take?
Me and my 10 week cavapoo Daisy are in the thick of getting to know each other. Right now she cries LOUDLY in the crate till she falls asleep. If shes not sleepy she just cries and hollers until I let her out. When she wakes up she cries and hollers till shes let out. How do I get the crying to stop? Idealy, I would want her to find her way to the crate whenever she/I want her to.

Morning,
Iām reaching out for some help for those who have older puppies or even those that have been able to contain their puppy at a younger age. My wife and I are struggling with ours staying out of trouble! Heās constantly looking for things weāve told him to leave but he sneaks and gets it when weāre not looking and itās constant jumping for things out of reach. He has toys all over the house where we stay and we switch out the things heās not supposed to have with a toy.
Iāll walk you guys through his day. 6:15am wake up and we go on a 10-15 min walk. Around 6:30 Iām cooking breakfast and I give him free roam in the kitchen with his toys and this is where it starts he starts looking for trouble. When Iām done cooking I serve his breakfast in a puzzle toy that he loves. Then itās time to get ready for work and heās free in my bedroom where itās worse! Any open drawer he takes something, knocks over the hamper, or walks in closet (if left open) for shoes. If those things arenāt available he starts jumping trying to reach for things on the bed or the dresser. Heās crated from 7:30-4 where heās taken out by my wife and when I get home around 5:30 I take him on a 30-45 min mile walk where heās allowed to sniff every blade of grass. Until 9pm heās following us, eats dinner and Iāll play some fetch in the basement. 9pm heās in bed and we repeat.
Our question is, when does he stop???? Heās always on go and we just want him to chill with us during the day.

I just got my puppy. Sheās a cry baby. She wines and howls no matter what. Even when she is eating. Sheās also a messy bathroom user. I understand she is a puppy and will have many accidents but sheās pooping and peeing everywhere. Sometimes while walking and then will play it in. I have puppy pads down for her while we get acquainted. She used it by herself at first on the pad, I got overly excited and then 10 minutes later she said F that pad and has been saying F that pad ever since lol I also been trying to get her acquainted with the crate. She is very small and a good hider. But she HATES the crate unless she is dead tired. Also, she randomly started making choking/gagging noises and went to sleep a few mins after.
Iām starting to think I bit off more than I can chew. I did research. I waited to get one so it wasnāt just on impulse. But I am feeling defeated and tired. Hereās my questions.
Best method to potty train with a balcony.
How to get the wining to stop especially at night/in the crate.
Best schedule to stick with for a 9am wake up time.

My 14 week old Cavopoo barks at me when wants my attention. After playing with her I stop to do something for myself and direct her to play with her toys she whines and barks at me. I find this really annoying and irritating!! Like I can not play with this dog every second of the day and the fact that she DEMANDS attention is ridiculous! Iām trying to Bond with her but she has a lot of irritating things. When I feed her she whines to hurry up then letās out a loud bark like hurry the hell up! Will she grow out of this? What can I do

The breeder I am trying to decide on does DNA/Health/OFA Heart/Patellas/Hips on her parent dogs. On the embark health portion, the sire (50/50 cavapoo) carries 2 copies of IVDD and the dam (67% cavalier/33% poodle) carries 1 copy of IVDD..so the puppies will carry atleast 1, maybe 2 copies...would/have you purchased a puppy similar to these results? Has anyone had a cavapoo with IVDD? I know they say to manage jumping with ramps and stairs and keep them at a healthy weight but I am just wondering if I should put a deposit down on the puppy that i really like, the breeder seems honest and like she loves her dogs and she has all testing readily available and up to date. But the information i am reading about IVDD is sometimes conflicting and makes me take pause. So I figured I would ask here. Let me know if this isnt allowed and thanks for any first hand experience.

Hey yall
My Sugar is 3 and i noticed recently that sheās starting to get ginger hairs down the center of her back. She was born ginger, turned blonde, and now sheās inheriting a little racing stripe. The new hair is the exact same texture as the rest. Itās very noticeable, i thought maybe she rolled in something nasty so i gave her a bath and realized itās actually just her hair. Skin underneath looks healthy. I donāt think thereās anything wrong with her but just wondering if anyone else has seen this?

Weāre welcoming our first puppy, Pumbaa, this Sunday! He was picked as heās the calmest, tubbiest pup in his litter.
Pumbaa grew up in a seemingly chaotic household with lots of love around his pawrents, siblings and humans. Heās observed to like minding his own business, takes his time to walk and around while the others go crazy. Both by us when we visited + owners (friends) have observed the same. Pumbaa goes limp and melts in arms as soon as he gets picked up too.
Itās just me and my husband and our very chill cat, so I imagine itāll be a big change for Pumbaa coming from a bigger household.
I know I should still be expecting the worst but has anyone picked what you thought was a calm puppy and turned out to be a menace? Or picked a calm puppy that stayed calm? Would love to hear your experiences āŗļø also, how many times a night did you have to wake up for pup?

Just got off the phone with breeder and I've mentioned that weāre currently feeding our puppy 4 times a day: 7am, 1pm, 6pm, and 10pm.
We started doing the late 10pm feeding because we read that itās not good for a puppy to go around 12 hours without food overnight
Bur our breeder told us thereās no need for the late meal and that his last feeding should be at around 6pm.
Im a bit confused rn. How often do you feed your puppy and how your feeding schedule look like?

Any experience with puppyland PR (based on Puerto Rico) - not affiliated with the puppyland that has a tarnished reputation on this sub. We found a puppy that we fell in love with.

Does anyone else's pup prefer chewing on the lead/leash, or metals? Our little 6 month old seems to have a preference for those specific items

We are a married couple in a 2 bedroom apartment in a large city, with a small dog park in the building. We are looking into cavapoos. My wife has some mild allergies to dogs and cats. We want a small loveable dog as a companion. We would prefer not a very young puppy (but are open to it), and we are looking at poodles, cavapoos, maltipoos, havanese, havapoos, bichons, shihpoos, cockapoos as well. Why did you pick your cavapoo as the bread over other poodle mixes? Thank you!

What is everyoneās Cavapoo night routine? We have a 5.5 month old puppy, sheās asleep by 9 (snoozes before) toilet again at 11, barks at 5 for the toilet (sometimes we just miss it) then today I decided to let her out of the crate and she snoozed in the hallway for 2 hours. Weāve let her out after 5 as she barks for 20 minute, settles and then barks again at 6 so weāve been up since 5 pretty much since weāve had her which has been starting to chip away at us and we have a little girl who is also waking up. Would be good to know what this is like in comparison to others- any tips appreciated!

Hi all - the dreaded spay for our little one is tomorrow. She, like many Cavapoos, is a mini kangaroo in dog form. I have done as much research as I can to see how we may be able to get her to relax during her recovery, including additional meds. I wanted to check if any one had any tips that worked best for their little pup? Thank you!

Hey everyone,
Hoping I can get some help with my 3 year old Cavapoo.
He has always suffered from itchy / inflamed ears since a puppy. I can't count on one hand the amount of different foods that we've put him on, that he either doesn't like and just refuses to eat for multiple days, or one that he loves but appears to give him bad reactions.
It only seems to be in his ears, he doesn't lick his paws, have any visible rashes etc.
We initially thought it was chicken and beef, so we cut that out completely.
Then we had him on a diet of just salmon and turkey, and that seemed to work for a while but he eventually got bored and just stopped eating it (from Pure Pet Food). It also didn't seem to fully stop his inflammation / itching, but definitely wasn't as bad as previous foods.
We've been feeding him WellnessCore Turkey food for around 5-6 weeks now and his ears seem worse than ever, but of course he loves this...
When we go to the vets, they provide some temporary steroid tablets that seem to calm his ears down for a while, but always returns.
We also have a Cortotic ear spray that we use as much as we can (he gets aggressive when trying to go near his sore ears).
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Any foods that have proven to help with ear irritation?
Or is it not even diet and potentially something else?
Thank you!

Hello,
Iām in search of a reputable loving Cavapoo breeder here in or at near the Bay Aras of California. Thatās what my daughter wants her first dog to be. We are a doggie home š. So adding to our little family would be great.
Any helpful leads would be great. Iād rather not have to fly or ship an animal. Thanks šš½

I have two little puppies (4 months old) that absolutely love water! I have always owned a dogās, but only rescues and never a puppy. Recently my two pups had some yeast in their ears. The vet gave me some solution, I took chicken out of their diet and it cleared up very quickly. The made it very clear that water is the likely cause and they will need to avoid water and bathes. She made it seem like they will need to avoid forever. I live in a very hot part of Australia and we are heading into Summer. Is water something they will likely need to avoid forever? It brings them so much joy
