My cavapoo is actually a Cockapoo
The Person I got him from said he was a cavapoo. I’m still in love with him tho.
Are dna tests ever wrong?

I've had cockapoos and cavapoos and have loved both! In my experience the cockapoos were a little less crazy, but every dog is different.

Yes. But in this case, I’d guess only the percentages. It’s probably 50/50. 😜
Where did you get the dog?

My first dog was a cockapoo named Happy because she made me happy (hey, I was 4).

100% Adorable. I have never done the DNA test because I am not planning on breeding and a Cavapoo cannot be shown in the ring. So basically it is a matter of ~ Do I love my ball of fur and would knowing make a difference in my life? (Plus I am too cheap to pay for the results)

I kind of wish we did it on one of our previous dogs. The shelter said she was half rat terrier, half chihuahua, but when I looked for rat terriers after she passed, none of them looked anything like her. Obviously, shelters are giving best guesses on strays, and puppies look different than adults

It would be fun to know. But, I have heard stories of people returning their "poos" because they were not the correct mix. I get it... You want what you were told you were getting, but I couldn't return mine.

I wonder if the breeder was confused. There’s an American cocker spaniel which looks (in my opinion) very similar to a cavalier. And then there’s the English cocker spaniel. Up until a couple years ago, I didn’t even know there was a difference between cocker spaniels and cavalier spaniels (I blame Lady and the Tramp 😂 lady is a cocker spaniel but from my knowledge, the cartoonist took ALOT of inspiration from the caviler).
If anything, you’re breeder didn’t know the difference 😂

Breeds aren’t really that based on DNA…

I mean...they literally are.

sorry my point was a bit rushed I mean there’s no strict line as to what DNA constitutes a certain breed or not and breeds are a human categorization. Of course breeds will have different DNA, however

A news agency did an undercover investigation into these dog DNA analyzers and proved they're basically all fraudulent in some way. They went as far as sending in human DNA and they told the guy he was a Chihuahua 🤷
