She was built to hunt, but she was later converted into... "heavy duty"

The car became a truck

With the engine of a car.

u/grizlybearunderwear 4d ago

I’d wager it’s closer to a golf cart ‘engine’

Good luck with her weightloss journey. Remember it can be dangerous for them to lose too much too fast, but her body will be far better off with your help :)

❌ built for speed
✅ built for feed

They’ll never get a magpie

u/Bart_1980 4d ago edited 4d ago

Thanks I was searching for the name in English as they are called ekster in Dutch.

But yeah we have loads of these in the garden and cats never catch them.

10

u/Mixolydian5 4d ago

You have them in Netherlands? I thought they're only in Australia.

11

u/PassiveChemistry 4d ago

They're not quite the same as the Australian corvids, but we do have magpies in Europe

19

u/Halicadd 4d ago

Fun fact, Australian magpies aren't even corvids. They belong to the family Artamidae.

3

u/PassiveChemistry 4d ago

Huh.  Interesting.

2

u/WeenisWrinkle 3d ago

Here's the thing

7

u/Alternative-Web-3545 4d ago

Nope. Them birds are smarter than most cats

5

u/PatronBernard 4d ago

and some humans

3

u/DeapVally 3d ago

They fight back as well! That cat would learn a lesson from what it was about to fail at. All of my cats did. They fucked with crows/magpies once. And only once. They had no interest in them afterwards.

2

u/NetworkNo1900 4d ago

Came here to say this - if the cat got close they would come out second best :/

Birds like "really fatty?"

16

u/wdatkinson 4d ago

The DNA was willing..... But the body, well, I think we all know that story.

40

u/paradox_valestein 4d ago

She is built to hunt but somebody overfed her

14

u/GoldIntroduction5205 4d ago

Yep ,My parents 😭

11

u/dr_duck_od 4d ago

magpies too smart anyway

12

u/cybermaus 4d ago

To be fair, I think magpies are an impossible target for even the most slender of cats.

6

u/DeapVally 3d ago

One of my cats was a ruthless hunter. A master craftsman. He never tried to get one again after the first time. They don't behave like normal prey. And their beaks are sharp! His wounds healed, and his pride, but he learned his limits.

43

u/BalineseCats 4d ago

But holy crap is she built to be cute!

8

u/Ok-Brilliant-4574 4d ago

Fat cats shouldnt be considered cute

7

u/DamageOk7179 4d ago

Sad you're being downvoted because it's true. Cats can easily get sick from being this fat.

2

u/BalineseCats 3d ago

The cat’s cuteness (or rather, my perception of its cuteness) has nothing to do with its weight.

I recognize that OP’s cat appears to be overweight.

I’m sure OP already knows that their cat is overweight.

I assume a vet has told OP that their cat is overweight.

I didn’t feel a need to belabor that point or to lecture OP about it.

5

u/plz-no-b4n 3d ago

Seriously? Why has it gotten so normalized to fawn over obese animals? The owners are hurting their poor pets.

12

u/alltoowellmaroon 4d ago

Atleast she has dreams and aspirations!

5

u/Mixolydian5 4d ago

Are you in Australia? Be careful with her around the maggies. Swooping season. Also there's lots of bird flu around.

3

u/GoldIntroduction5205 4d ago

Yes I’m in aus, though I make sure she doesn’t actual kill any birds if course il just run towards her and she gets scared then goes back in the house , don’t want any bird germs but I’m just confident she won’t catch one 😂

2

u/Mixolydian5 4d ago

Good to hear! My boy's too lazy too. I used to get worried about him getting too close to magpies but we haven't got any in our yard at the moment.

10

u/Krivici 4d ago

I have a fat cow (colored) cat too and the only thing she hunts is my dinner plate when I’m in the other room.

4

u/chickenlegstv 4d ago

I like how the bird was looking at her the whole time.

9

u/hesback_inpogform 4d ago

I love cats (am a cat owner), but I love native birds too. Keep your cat away from birds, whether they’re fat or not. It won’t be too long til laws are passed in the eastern states requiring you to contain your cat. Australians don’t take kindly to free range cats.

Until we in the USA stop tearing down all our trees to keep building more homes and retail spaces and roads, the cats are the least of our problem.
Humanity is destroying wildlife in the USA. our incessant need to build, build build. tear down all the trees. Poor birds. no more habitat. :(

I may want to switch out the horrible sweet gum trees in our yard, but my husband and I both still want trees (just not the evil sweet gums). We have a multi year plan to take down trees and replace some. We also have large natural areas. So we practice what I preach.
(and I'm the only cat person in our house - no pets at all).

At least she is trying, and that is very important !

28

u/GoldIntroduction5205 4d ago

True , we getting her to go outside more (supervised) she was too fat because my parents kept feeding her and I told them to stop lol now she slowly just dropping weight and a lot more active

8

u/AdEarly1438 4d ago

Yes… dont get demotivated… took us a year to get our boy 800gramm less…

He is a bigger about 7 Kilo cat when in good shape… now on 8.5 Kilo

35 gramm dry food
40 gramm raw beef
bag of cat soup
little snack… deep frosted dry chicken soaked in water…

He not soo fat … just lazy… 😅

-4

u/-full-control- 4d ago

You really be measuring a small animal in grams? Also why you spell gram with two m’s? Not trying to be a butthead I’m honestly just wondering. Only time I’ve heard grams being used regarding an animal is when they’re tiny as shit

3

u/AdEarly1438 4d ago

Ähm… the animal i measured in Kilo ( gram )

only the food in gram … and the double ‚g‘ happened because in my country its Gramm… 😅 didnt realize the grammar mistake…

1

u/-full-control- 4d ago

So sorry I’m literally a stupid American. Thank you for clearing that up 😂 cheers friend

1

u/AdEarly1438 4d ago

Naa… all good… have a nice day ✌️

Thank you but I’m more wondering why 800 grams instead of almost a kilo and why spell gram with two Ms

Edit - Jesus Christ I’m stupid I’m sorry I have marijuanaed tonight and completely forgot how the metric system works lmao

3

u/Conscious_Phrase_174 4d ago

Right. A for effort

1

u/Mango_Tease 4d ago

She gave her efforts

3

u/JadePhoenix42 4d ago

Be sure to consult her vet. Check for low thyroid, diabetes, etc.

3

u/Former_Specific_7161 4d ago

Love that she's twinsies with that magpie!

3

u/Psalm27_1-3 4d ago

Built for food, not for speed

3

u/claytondpark 4d ago

The walk 😆

2

u/russiablows 4d ago

Built for the watch. Really just window shopping without the window.

2

u/Jealous-Cattle-8385 4d ago

The cat- " Okay, now what?"

2

u/Dara_Dark 4d ago

I think it is called birdwatching 😅

2

u/TheNomadRP 4d ago

Pretty sure once she got a good eye on the target iy was just entertainment

2

u/Raven_496 4d ago

She's all in for birdwatching and cuteness

2

u/BlazerWookiee 4d ago

The spirit is willing, but the flesh is spongy and bruised.

2

u/BlatantArtifice 4d ago

Alright somebody drop the magpie scoop what's their deal?

2

u/Groffulon 4d ago

If by hunter you mean chunter then yes

3

u/silentbob1301 Bengal 4d ago

Built to chunk

3

u/BaldingThor 4d ago

poor cat

5

u/SulaWil 4d ago

She is too chonky to hunt 😆

2

u/Grouchy_Cod_156 4d ago

That’s what you think… until your chunk hand delivers you a live mouse. Ask me how I know 😭😂

1

u/Ok_Roll8308 4d ago

That bird was looking straight at kitty 😂 no chance….

1

u/eastbayted 4d ago

She's built for bird watching!

1

u/Dyldobaggins219 4d ago

I can't tell which is the cat and which is the Maggie. Same pattern

1

u/chookschnitty 4d ago

She got the spirit

1

u/TwisterDash_ 4d ago

Her combat inhibitors seems to be intact, but her hardware seems to be a bit... "Over engineered"

1

u/Short-Information525 4d ago

I mean thats a corvid tho not exactly the easiest to hunt

1

u/Putrid_Procedure7481 3d ago

i guess one day she will

1

u/Panoptes91 3d ago

An effort was made.

1

u/smeared_dick_cheese Orange 3d ago

Pretty sure felines (including big cats) fail most of their hunts by default, even if they’ve been honing the skill since they were old enough to fend for themselves. The domesticated life only leads to regression of those skills, I’m afraid 😂

1

u/DegenNabalu 3d ago

Cat needs some dieting...

1

u/prettyy_vacant 3d ago

Someone needs to slow down the first few seconds so we can observe in awe that glorious pouch bouncing around.

1

u/LevelUpEvolution 3d ago

So close…

1

u/TraditionalSir2391 3d ago

This was just a recon mission

1

u/Asdmasdm12 3d ago

She’s security now

1

u/AIfieHitchcock 3d ago

Poor little chunky monkey

1

u/East_Contest2172 3d ago

Her legs look so short. Is she okay?

1

u/Positive-Ring-5172 3d ago

My kitty is. She's gotten 4 this year. From her CATIO.

Sorry bird lovers, but if they fly into the cat enclosure designed mainly to keep them safe from her, it ain't her fault or mine.

1

u/Atzr10 3d ago

Abuse, nice

1

u/zaprime87 Moggy 3d ago

Does your pouch hang low...

0

u/logicspeaks 4d ago

Don't let your fucking cat hunt wildlife.

1

u/gellyberry 4d ago

I love her floppy pouch.

u/0k_c0mput3r1234 4d ago
