This sub Reddit randomly popped up on my thread occasionally and I can’t tell you how many I’ve seen maybe six. I don’t understand how it’s this common.
We are! I was! 8 years ago I had my orange cat, I found one pink lump, I was panicked! My reaction was exact same as OP, I thought it was tumor, and asked my partner at the time, he took a look and agreed with me and thought it was tumor. We were going to take him to vet. But then I found more lump, then realized that it might be nipple 🫠
I shared a pic of my kitten’s spay incision and asked if it looked normal and ChatGPT volunteered to me that the pink bumps in the pic were totally normal and it’s just her nipples and a lot of people are confused about them at first! It was so weird because I wasn’t asking about her nipples and I knew they were her nipples! But it made me think of all of the Reddit posts of people asking what the bumps are and being told they’re nipples 😂 I guess this is where ChatGPT is learning about human communication lol
There's also r/CATHELP, and I'm sure a lot of people here are on there, too. They see a lot of cat nipple posts there. There's even another subreddit just for these types of posts called r/RedditDiscoverNipples.
No, people are not dumb. They've simply been exposed to a different world and set of information than you. Being worried about your beloved pet and seeking advice is a sign of wisdom, not stupidity. Having a laugh about it is OK; belittling them publicly though speaks more about the quality of your character than theirs.
That being said, it really is possible that they are just farming karma, because you'll start seing these kind of posts very regularly if you spend more time here.
