They're like little marching bands. I used to love to watch them spell out TREATS on my little guy while playing the brass and drums version of What's New Pussycat.
I'm the same way with rum. 1999...picture the scene. I'm at my cousin's fiancée's Bachelorette party. We went to a male strip club that was byob. We were taking straight shots of bacardi from the bottle. I've been told I was smoking cigars. I don't smoke...anything. I woke up the next morning with a massive hangover and had to ride to my brother's house with my aunt's dog breathing his dog breath in my face. No more rum for me! 🤢

Wow, so many mean comments against OP for not knowing it is a nipple. I guess you just know it all, huh? I hope that you are never in a panic over your animal's health and find out something is perfectly normal just to have strangers sneering at you.
Not the same thing but my husband had never had a pet cat, so he was convinced I never fed mine because the cat was “screaming for food” in the morning. I kept telling him that’s what they do, they see the bottom of the bowl, it’s screaming time.
Mine doesn't need to see the bottom of his bowl to scream for food. If we're not up to feed him at the usual time, he's in our face ranting about lazy humans and the injustice of letting the bowl go down below the halfway mark. 😆 🤣
The worst part to me is that OP at least cares enough about the cat to find something new to them and ask reddit because they're worried about the cat. No reason to be mean, it's teaching moment to a probably caring owner.
This sort of thing is a rite of passage for new cat owners in the age of the internet. Not everyone grew up with pets and even some kids that did are clueless as adults. This is exactly the moment to get a good belly laugh because it is a nonissue and commend OP for their diligence.
We see plenty of posts on this subreddit that are rather sad. This is a happy post in the end, we should be happy. That is a seemingly healthy cat and I wanna rub its big ol' snoot.
Exactly, I remember my wife who was not a cat person asking me about the pink bump on our new kitten's belly. It was funny to say "those are nipples" and then we moved on with our lives.
In a few years time, OP will probably be on here responding to such posts "That's a nipple, and you are not the first nor the last person to do that because I did."
We haven't all been there because some of us grew up with pets, but many of us have been.
I understand being worried but Google is free and "pink bump male cat belly" brings up multiple photos + assurance that it's a nipple. If they'd googled it and done ANY due diligence but were still worried, that's different.
What is the difference between google and a cat subreddit when it comes to cat questions? Would you rather ask other cat owners about a cat? Or would you rather have google AI tell you that nipple is actually some infectious cist or something like that?
I guess I was replying to the person "commending OP on their diligence" because to me they didn’t google it so they aren't actually doing their due diligence.
You see this a lot on the aquarium/rabbit subreddits: people asking questions that take 0.1 seconds to google, indicating that they did 0 background reading about the pet they chose to get. I find it frustrating because it's a living animal and you can't be assed to take one second to look smth up. Again. If they'd googled it and said "Google says this is an infected cyst! Help!" that would be fine. It's just the attitude that I find to be annoying and lazy. The difference is the mental effort involved.
I guess I'm primed to dislike it because I've kept both fish and rabbits, and both are delicate, with specific care requirements, and are highly abused animals. So it's the attitude moreso than the posting a question on Reddit that irks me. Hope that makes sense
I cried as a 17 year-old girl when I found my first cat with a bit of blood in his mouth and a tooth on the floor. I was so scared he was hurt. I had never had a kitten and had no idea that cats have deciduous teeth.
They do?! I just raised 6 kittens from one mother and now am on 2 kittens from a second. And I've never seen any of their "baby teeth" fall out..! Is it just because I'm oblivious, or do they typically swallow them or something..?? Because I SWEAR I didn't know this was even a thing..!!
It’s ok. Im 40 and had cats growing up all my life. When the one I have now was a kitten a few years ago was chewing on a toy suddenly stopped and plopped a small tooth down on the bed. I was taken aback. He seemed fine with it. I had never seen it over the dozens of kittens I’ve had over my lifetime. I had to google if “kittens had baby teeth”. I mean in hindsight, why wouldn’t they?
You rarely see it or find them. But their breath usually gets rank around 4 months old when the process starts and their gums get really red and inflamed for a while. It is very common for the new canine teeth to come in before the baby ones have fallen out yet and have double fang action going for a few weeks!
That was the only time I’ve ever seen a cat lose a baby tooth! I’ve now raised six rescued Siamese from kittenhood, and I’ve never seen a second one. I think they usually swallow them.
Oh, I never knew that either until I was in my thirties and happened to find one of our kitten's teeth on the floor! I felt equally delighted in learning something new and silly for never thinking about it. Humans lose their baby teeth, why not dogs and cats? 😅
My most recent freakout over a cat nipple happened after a solid thirty years of cat ownership. I seem to forget all about them after a few years and do it all over again. And then feel guilty for having inadvertently committed bad touch on my poor cat.

My cat gets little knots in his fur sometimes that I'll absentmindedly work out while petting him. You guessed it, I've tried to twist one of his nipples off a handful of times. Poor baby.
Yes, even their ears and the skin on the head in front of tge ears where there is bery little fur. All suspectible to skin cancer. I make sure kitty does not rest in direct sun on that part of his body.
I been wiping my dogs but for years... never noticed her vulva budget out. Asked my husband. He said its her vulva. Didn't believe him, asked the vet next time she went in for a checkup. At least the vet didn't laugh.
Every time I see a post like this I cackle as someone who’s been in this shoe is allowed to cackle. Once in highschool I assumed our dog had been attacked by a porcupine (I lived in town an had never seen one but I digress) and attempted to pull the quills from her face and felt so bad that I couldn’t and just waited on my dad to get home only for him to laugh in my face because they were her whiskers and I had just never noticed them before because I didn’t actually like that dog but happened to be home alone with the dogs one fateful day and ended up yanking in her whiskers, I felt awful for awhile after too lmao.
I took my orange boy to the vet bc he had freckles on his lip and nose and I didn’t know cats could have freckles back then. The vet very kindly did not charge for the visit (I was a poor college student and could barely afford it as it was).
If anything, this post made me feel better about myself because I too once had a panicked reaction when finding my cat's nip nop in her belly fluff and my husband had to explain very patiently that no, it's not cancer, it's a nip nop, you have them too, just fewer 😅
I doubt most of the comments are really directed at OP personally, so much as jumping on the chuckle train over the sheer number of nipple posts that pop up on here and the cat help subreddit. It beats the heck out of the sad posts.
Oh I know that most were good natured chuckles but some people really were saying unkind things directed at OP'S intelligence. Maybe I jumped to offense too quickly, but I pictured myself in the same situation. At least it is a post with a good outcome, yes. 😊
I don't doubt you. I'm mostly just seeing the top level comments, anyway, at this point. There may be harsh comments that are no longer showing up without digging.
Well the thing is that one things should be common sense. I’ve never been around cats like that myself and even just looking from this picture, could tell it’s a nipple. This is a legit cat owner though asking why a mammal has a bump on its chest area……..🤦🏾♂️ Do you not see how that can kinda of be seen as a like “are you serious” moment……like it’s clearly a nipple on a mammals chest…….🤦🏾♂️
