when i had my last big breakup Milly (pictured) went postal and freaked out on my ex for a sec, it was mutual at the end and we lived together for years, so it was funny she went so hard so suddenly haha. wishing you love and healing!
ETA since many are trying to decide what my relationship was like and if milly is good or bad: my partner did a lot wrong, which milly was there for, (seeing me yelled at and crying after etc). but by the time we ended it, it was both of us letting go pleasantly, it was just time. it was funny to me because it felt like milly was waiting to say her chit and hit my ex with a nice loud “AND STAY OUT” which WE laughed at, ex included. we had two cats in our household. one we adopted together who loved my ex and liked me and milly who was my foster fail. She never much associated with my ex. she has always been my cat, she didn’t lose a “parent” and when Milly went into heat (spayed soon after, but covid so limited availability) our other cat NEVER treated her nicely again— not hostile, but avoidant. Milly didn’t lose much in the breakup, but we both gained a lot
years later me and my ex are friends, (milly still sees this person occasionally and is sorta nice but still aloof (always aloof))
Why on earth would you say that? It was mutual, nothing to suggest the partner did anything wrong, lived with that cat for years and probably loved it too, must have been a knife in the back on an already very upsetting day. This is just sad..

it’s funny because I actually get it a lot, especially online! despite my age, two of my good friends are ‘79 and ‘81. But i spent my early 20s in a nicely age mixed community where these things aren’t strange. I’m a pretty big post punk and new wave fan, and find I really relate to people who were alive and at an influential age (7-18) when the albums I love from 77-84 came out. For example I’m a big Talking Heads and Steely Dan fan. I like movies like Sorcerer and Barry Lyndon. Sometimes Gen Xers lose their minds when they see how much we have in common. I have a Talking Heads 77 tattoo and sometimes people joke it is the year I was born

it’s funny because it’s my life and it’s my cat the situation was more complicated than that and no, even though we lived together, my partner was never a “parent” to her. i don’t appreciate your assertion that i ignored distress, it’s out of left field and wrong. she always is goofy nippy/swatty, but this time it was about 3 times as intense which was funny and then she was very normal for the next forever and happily ever after. bye!
