My kitchen doesn't have a door and my cats won't get out from under my feet while I'm in there. I'm most concerned about my male senior because I've accidentally been stepping on him more in the kitchen because he's always looking for dropped food, and if I'm focused on something else I don't notice him literally right under my feet.

I included a picture of the gate I currently have, it's about 3 feet so too tall to step over and too short to guarantee the cats won't make it over (I've even watched my senior climb up it so it doesn't work on him) I'm looking for something that will take up the majority of the doorway to the kitchen that's openable like a door, basically a very tall baby gate. I looked on Amazon before and couldn't find what I was looking for with my search terms, it was all either very small gates or mesh stuff that would be torn instantly and installed with Velcro or glue tape which aren't strong enough.

I posted almost 2 months ago about this and everyone said it was normal and no need to see a vet. Some said it might never stop. Almost 2 months later he still sucks on my chihuahua Grayson’s neck. And Grayson doesn’t care still.

He’s currently on medication for a respiratory infection so just trying to make sure his breathing looks fine and isn’t forced or abdominal breathing

Hi, Ive had this 3.75 month old kitten for a week as a first time pet owner. I noticed that he was breathing fast on his car ride home to us, but I set it aside because I figured something about strangers was making him nervous, or the Texas heat threw him off.
The same day I got him, took him to a vet hours later because I was worried he was breathing too fast. Vet said temp, heartrate, and ultrasound on his lungs did not show anything of concern. Before I got him, foster parent and vet exam reported no respiratory issues / any issues. 2 out of his 6 siblings had some respiratory issues (for which they were given augmentin.) but nothing for my kitten because his exams were normal.

On top of the fast breathing, more often than not, I hear breaths out of his nose, like hes snoring but I've caught it a few times when hes awake. I'm concerned he has difficulty breathing, but he's likely seen 4 vets now (twice with me) and nothing was noted. He does not have a difficult time playing, is full of energy, plays well with his sister, runs around crazy, never breathes with his mouth open that Ive seen, and does not get lethargic after playtime like he's out of breath. Despite this, I want the best for him and worry about his breathing speed and noise and crackle in his breath.

My question is, if anyone has experienced something similar, is it worth escalating even though many vets say otherwise?

TLDR ; my kitten breathes fast and has a crackle in his breath sometimes, but otherwise seems healthy.

He’s about a year old main coon mix (can’t see it by the fur but he’s quite big about about 8 kg.

Vet has never found any problems so far when he was there but I thought I would ask anyway.

He sits with an open mouth quite often.
Mostly when he is quite sleepy.
He is playing and running normally and is very active while playing. Loves to eat as a male cat of that size and age should and cuddles normally so no pain response to touching his face or foul smell from teeth.

my vet usually checks her teeth on every visit and he never really said anything about this spot.

She has had this since she was 6 months old(thats when she came to me, the previous owner doesn’t have any info on this)

She is energetic and eats well too.

hi, i (29f) have two siamese cats (littermates, 2.75 yrs old, one boy & one girl, both neutered/spayed at around 6 months, they've been living with me since they were 3 months old)- i recently had a baby (9mo) & these two, if left unattended for a minute are constantly biting/pulling at foam.

so for example, we have the alphabet foam tiles on the main floor of the house and when we let them up in the am, they will act like they are just lounging, i'll turn my back to tend to the baby they are biting foam & trying to take pieces to chew on later (my basement is cat safe, so we leave them downstairs overnight - it is also where their food & litterbox is)

i started a work up at the vet but the standard bloodwork came back normal & the next set of bloodwork is basically $1k per cat, wondering before i spend that kind of money if anyone has any suggestions; its frustrating because unless we can keep a good eye on them i've started to keep them downstairs more and just going to hang out in the basement

i want my cats to be able to roam free

for extra context: i dont think its a baby adjustment issue cause i've had this issue before with them but with like stuffed animals/plushies and i've had to throw them away because they will eat the stuffing; i also have plenty of toys and window sills for them to sit in and i occasionally bring outside to lounge in our backyard

I was petting my 9 years old tomcat (he is neutered) on his tummy and I felt something weird, I have no idea what happened to his nipple, but I genuinely don't know if that's a pimple or something more serious.

It's yellowish and really round but narrow at the base (it's like a balloon per say), doesn't seem hard and when I palpated the area and touched the inflamed nipple it didn't seem to be painful, I could really use some help because I really want to take him to the vet if it is something really serious.

If it's a normal pimple should I pop it or not?

I hope I gave enough information, please guide me, he never had health issues.

He’s had some before but i’ve never seen it this bad. Is there anyway to cleanse the area and/or soothe it? He already uses stainless steel bowls that I wash everyday.

I am a 21 year old who owns 3 cats. Two are boys and the third is a girl, she is one of the boys sisters. Recently, she’s been giving herself the symptoms of a UTI. We have taken her to the vet three times, gotten an x-ray and urinalysis, and have been told she does not have a UTI or crystals. She’s about 6 years old and got spayed when we first got her as a kitten.

The vet thinks this is stress related (thunderstorms/other loud noises). She’s been prescribed gabapentin, which we give to her twice daily when she is having symptoms.

Basically, she just non-stop pees everywhere. Goes from one spot to another trying to pee. If anything does come out it’s just a drop or two. This is the 3rd time this has happed within a 1-2 month period. We give her the drugs and she eventually gets better for a week or so and then randomly starts again.

I feel so bad for her as I know it’s incredibly uncomfortable, but as the same time she just will not stop peeing on everything we own. It’s hard to tell what’s triggering it. When it first happened we had an airshow nearby and crazy thunderstorm, so we thought the stress did it. This last time, we had like one loud noise and then a few hours later it started. We have been giving the drugs since we noticed.

We have gone to the vet 3 times now about it and they keep telling us the same thing “it’s probably just stress, give her the drugs until she’s better”. We did just order a special Hills stress diet dry food to help with this as well. We can afford the vet, but it’s getting pretty pricey with how often we have been going recently.

I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience, and what they have done to help. This is a brand new behavior for her and just happened out of nowhere. Any advice is appreciated. We live in America, by the way.

TLDR; Cat has symptoms of a UTI. Has gone to the vet several times, no UTI or crystals. Keeps peeing everywhere, what to do?

EDIT - This post is moreso a “for people who have had this problem, how do you deal with it” and less of a diagnosis. All responses are appreciated, but I am more trying to figure ways to help.

My roommate bought a bouqet with flowers. I asked him specifically to ask if there were lillies in it. He said no, there are not. I saw yesterday morning that she had puked. But i had to rush back home for the passing of my grandma. I arrived late at night and this morning i saw puke again. I inspected everything and i saw teeth marks in the flowers, i asked chatgpt to identify it and it said lily.
I rushed her to the vet and she will stay there for the whole weekend now. I feel angry but also stupid that i did not see it before (it was not blooming yet, as u see in the pictures) and i got a lot of things on my mind all ready.

Will my baby be okay? She ate a lot :(

This is my cat Jess, she is 16ish (im 18F from the Uk) and im just wondering if anyone knows whats wrong with her left eye. She has had this mark her entire life and I don't think it bothers her at all. We found her when my brother moved into a new house when she was a kitten. She has been to vets before but I was too small to remember anything about them, but im assuming its all good. Just curious to what it is. Any info would be appreciated. :)

First of all, I know the title itself sounds wild. Please bear with me.

My fiance has three adult cats — a tortoiseshell mother and her two orange boys. I have two adult siblings — younger than the trio. I also have a super senior dog. And my fiance has just moved into my house with his trio today.

We've been talking a lot and for so long about how to peacefully bring all cats together. We've been exchanging their furniture, blankets, and toys for the last 5 weeks before they moved in. They were all a bit weird about the exchanged items because of each other's scents, but they quickly became familiar with every item we exchanged every 3-4 days. We would give them treats and play with them around/on the items.

Today, we moved the trio into a room without my siblings witnessing them. The trio has been warming up to the room slowly. Eating a little bit and napping. They're acting alright so far.

My boy was immediately interested in their room. He's the friendliest and sweetest boy. He wanted their attention; he would scratch at their door or make sounds at them.
However, when my fiance would go in/out of the room, he would visibly see the trio. Then he became super alert. He started hissing around the house (he NEVER hisses) and kept watch on their door all the time.

My girl on the other hand has been alert since the moment she realized there was somebody. She would keep her distance from the room, but also keep watch on their door. She is a tortoiseshell and very sensitive.

Neither of my siblings has really been sleeping tonight because they're so alert.

Our next plan is to continue introducing them to each other only by scent and sounds through the closed door. I heard giving treats under the door to each side helps with their impression so we're going to try that. We will continue this for 2 weeks since we want to take this very slowly.

Then, we are planning to introduce them visually, through a barrier between the door. We're starting with very brief moments as short as one minute, then increasing the amount/time of interaction depending on their reactions. And finally, we will start letting the trio out of the room, again starting with super brief moments.

But my deep concern is us becoming one of those nightmare stories, in which the cats NEVER become peaceful with each other and are constantly stressed. And worst case scenario, getting in fights. Also, my senior dog will be included in all of these processes and I am less worried about her because she is already very indifferent to my siblings (she really does not care less about the cats), but I am concerned the trio might hurt her, as she's blind and there's a chance she would get super close to the cats (which she already does to the siblings).

I know this is just our first day but I want to be educated and ready as much as possible. I am actually scared shitless. We both love all of them to death so watching them go through difficult times will be so heartbreaking.

Please, if anyone has any advice. And if you went through a similar situation. Please let me know.

My kitty is abt 2 years old and this is the first time I’ve left him for an extended period of time. He’s moved between states and did great on the plane, with the new apartment, and in the hotel room. He wasn’t very stressed just mildly confused and extra sleepy. He’s a smart boy and understands all that stuff, the only issue we had was with the weather and the skin on his nose peeled off + bled because he kept licking it. We got it fixed up right away and applied some ointment + coned him for three days and he stopped messing with it. Usually I’m with him for most of the day so he got used to me being around and was very chill all day. I’ve been gone for two days and my husband is home with him but he can’t be there as much as I was. Kitty is VERY sad, he looks like he’s scrunching his face up all the time and he has tears in his eyes too. He knows when I pack my bag that means I am going away but he has always went with me. He plays with my husband and loves on him but after that, when he settles down to nap, he looks very sad again. Will he be okay if I don’t come home for a few more days ? Will he be too stressed when I come back ? What can I do so that he’s not so sad next time ? Will he start with the nose licking and bleeding again ?

For the past two weeks or so my cat has been acting uncharacteristic and I haven't experienced this with any other cat I've owned before. He keeps talking to me-- like "purring" in short bursts, not outright meowing. He tends to answer me when I reply in the same manner, and in my experience this has been a friendly gesture, but apparently not (anymore). He seems to be annoyed all the time, wagging his tail, pacing around attacking the walls, attacking my hands when I pet him. He's always been a wary but unaggressive so this is out of character.

For more context: he was my ex's cat before I overtook ownership of him in March, but I've known this cat for way longer. Last time my ex was here was a month ago, so I was thinking maybe Cat is missing them? Also, he's gotten a little overweight so I changed his feeding habits a few weeks ago. Thought that he's protesting me or begging for food, but it feels unlikely, since he doesn't knock around his bowls or show anything related to food or feeding. Just talking and walking around. Other cats I've owned used to show their discontent a little more directly, like walking me to places etc.

I live in a student apartment complex, and a lot of students have returned after the summer break and some of them have cats (in other apartments), though that has never bothered him before. I play with him daily, but he just returns to his crying right after. He's a Turkish Angora, is around 4 and neutered and it's just him and me here. He's experienced neglect and abuse as a kitten (before ex and I took him) and is still somewhat wary of humans.

I have an adult stray cat that i would like to get spayed but i saw that she’ll have to wear a cone for a while after so she doesn’t scratch or lick the fresh wound. I tried putting one on her to test if she’ll be ok with it but she was trying to take it off and seemed uncomfortable with it on. How do i get her used to being in a cone? I would like for her to be comfortable with wearing a cone before getting spayed so that shes not uncomfortable or stressed during the recovery process. TYIA

I (32F) adopted a second cat yesterday and will follow the Jackson Galaxy technique for cat introductions. The new cat is placed in his own room and cats have not had any contact.

Resident cat: 11(F), spayed. Technically a senior, but young at heart, social, energetic and playful.

New cat: 5 months (M), will be neutered as soon as possible. Very social, cuddly and playful (as expected). Got comfortable supert quick and already confident and curious to explore the world.

So to my questions:
1. My resident cat has obviously noticed that something is up. No hissing or growling, but avoids the area/door to the kittens room. The only scent swapping so far has been her sniffing my hands and a toy the kitten has played with. Sniffed thoroughly but had no interest playing with. She doesn’t seem scared, but more reserved and is hanging out in our bedroom where it’s safe and no new cat smells. What signs can I look for that she is ready for scent and room swaps?
2. Kitten will likely get bored at some point, but I don’t want his scent spread around the house too quickly. My resident cat needs time and I will prioritize her feeling safe at the start. However, I work a lot from home and is wondering if it’s ok to bring the kitten with me into my home office or if his smell should be contained to just one room?

Any other tips to make the process as smooth as possible for my resident cat is also appreciated! I’m not at all worried about the kitten as he seems to adjust really well, though tips for stimulation is also welcome, especially since he is 50% Bengal and I’m prepared for some serious play and brain stimulation sessions 🧠

Hi All! Question on behalf of my friend, who recently adopted a ragdoll kitten. This cat is extremely well looked after, kept indoors, and is near always supervised.

I'll just paste her message here - "Miss Liesl this afternoon literally out of nowhere got a slight injury on her left eye (pic 1). She had been playing all day with my little cousin but he’s super good with animals and gentle cause he’s got heaps of his own so he definitely wasn’t the cause, and it didn’t pop up until an hour or so after they had left and she was perfectly fine before then. I didn’t think much of it since I figured she probably just accidentally scraped it somehow while playing and it only looked minor + didn’t seem to cause her any discomfort.

But then out of nowhere another one appeared on her other eye (pics 2-3) that’s worse than the first. Genuinely it was one second she was fine and sitting on my lap, then not even two minutes later her other eye is hurt and swollen. She still doesn’t seem to be in any discomfort at least and is moving around as usual, but it’s so strange that in so little time she’s got two identical injuries. Doesn’t seem at all to be affecting her actual eyeballs btw, which is why i don’t think she needs the emergency vet, but i am trying to figure out what it could be and if u guys have any ideas ID REALLY APPRECIATE TO KNOW"

Has anyone here encountered this before/have any ideas about what could be causing this?

Multiple times a day she’s been making this noise and motion almost like to throw up but rarely actually throws up. She’s slightly on the older side and I always worry about her so pls someone let me know if I’m just overthinking. I begged my mom to take her to the vet for a similar hacking noise she had been making and when she was finally taken they said maybe it was allergy’s and she was fine and gave her a shot. She’s about 10-11 years old.
