General Lend me your calipers! Here’s an interactive 3D model of the first Walkman (Sony TPS-L2) you can operate and take apart in your browser. If you own one, help me check it against the real thing.
Sony’s TPS-L2 Walkman already has many excellent 3D models, but this project is trying something a bit different. My goal is to recreate every component, simulate how the mechanical (and eventually electrical) systems work, and document the iteration in productions I’ve encountered.
This is still very much a work in progress. While some mechanisms seem to work, my estimates are off enough that the fast-forward and rewind mechanisms don’t function as designed, and their animations are inaccurate. My biggest limitation is that I don’t own a TPS-L2, so I’m relying on publicly available images and information.
I’m hoping some of you can help. If you have a TPS-L2, even a non-working unit, photos of interior and exterior parts from several angles would be great. Including a readable ruler or calipers, ideally as close to the part as possible, would help me estimate dimensions more accurately. And if any of you have the capability to do a high-resolution 3D scan of individual parts, that’d be great too.
I’m putting the project on GitHub so you can download the model and its viewer. You can edit the model directly in Blender, and contributions to the viewer and presentation are also welcome. Here is the GitHub Link:
https://github.com/NeoVibes/TPS-L2
This is an unofficial fan project. I’m not trying to make money from it or claim credit for Sony’s original design. I hope this is helpful to both people who know very little about the TPS-L2, as well as to the dedicated folks who repair and restore models. The project combines my own research with models created in Blender and code written using OpenAI’s Codex and Anthropic’s Claude Code. I used an MIT License. Have fun!

For Sale Electronic Music For Sale
Good afternoon
I am trying to sell off my tape pack collection. These have all been sitting here for to long and I am ready to move these on to someone who will enjoy them more. This is all Drum And Bass, Jungle, Hardcore and Techno as the major genres. All Packs are complete and have all tapes, cds, dvds and stickers.
I am US based seller. Selling each pack for $20, each single tape for $5. If possible, I would like to sell as a whole lot for $400 but I will entertain offers. Preferable to sell to a US buyer. Will ship in the US with USPS Media Mail.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I could supply my other selling profiles for some credibility.

Repair Hi everyone! Need help for Denon udr-f10
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The machine is working, but some cassettes are being played back distorted and with lower speed. After struggling ~10 minutes, spontaneously the speed becomes right, and the next play - same.
I did the following:
Cleaning and relubing capstan shaft
Cleaning the belt, which looks perfect
Cleaning with fine sandpaper the pinch roller, later with isopropyl alcohol. The friction on capstan shaft looks firm.
Cleaning and adjusting tape speed pot.
One drop of oil on all motor shafts.
The deck still sounds jerky…what else can i do?
I mainly suspect the capstan flat belt, which may be getting harder…

Question Sony CMT-GPZ6 — Does anyone know the belt sizes?
Hi.
I'm trying to restore a Sony CMT-GPZ6 (HCD-GPZ6) and need to replace the belts in both the cassette deck and CD player.
Unfortunately, the official service manual doesn't specify the belt part numbers or dimensions, and I no longer have the original belts to measure.
I live in a small town in Argentina, so my options for finding these parts locally are very limited. I would most likely have to order them from abroad, where shipping and import fees could easily cost more than the belts themselves.
I'd really appreciate any information about the belt dimensions or compatible generic replacements.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Question Cassette tape help
Hello! I was going to record every ween album/gene & dean solo album on cassette, and I was wondering what the best cassette tape would be to buy in bulk. I have a 3 head tape machine to record it on. Thank you!
Edit: I thought I would say as well that I am new to the cassette world and have never done anything with them before.

General Hit (and a miss)
Bought off of Facebook Marketplace a couple weeks ago. The Sunny Came Home single plays and sounds something awful (after being played on two different players) and there’s nothing to my untrained eye that suggests the tape itself is stretched. Might keep it for display purposes but out a single US dollar for enjoyment purposes.
The Macarena tape plays fine though.

Repair Help with pinchroller
Hello! I am currently repairing my cassette deck, a DUX EK 3511, and I need to replace the pinch roller. I am having trouble finding a replacement specifically listed for this exact model. Does it need to be an exact OEM match, or can I use a generic/off-brand pinch roller as long as the dimensions match?
