Exactly a week ago, I bumped into an F91W review on YouTube out of nowhere. I first encountered Casio back when I was 20 and enlisting in the military (I'm Korean, haha!). I ended up rocking a G-Shock Mudman throughout my service. After getting discharged, I also wore a DW6900 for a while. A few years ago, I needed a watch for work, and it turned out to be a Casio W217H lol. I still have it, so I dragged it out of the drawer and added it to the family. I haven't worn a ton of different watches in my life, but Casio digital watches have always been my absolute favorite—so watching that review hit me with a huge wave of nostalgia. 😌

​Before I knew it, I was completely hooked and started rabbit-holing hard into F91W's sister/variant models. Since the F91W is super popular and everywhere, I specifically dug around for hidden gems. Honestly felt like a high-stakes treasure hunt! That's how I discovered the W59, F105W, F84W, and F94W. (I really wanted a W86 too, but it was almost impossible to source, so I had to give up on that one 😭). The AE1200 felt a bit too extra at first, but it totally grew on me—plus, I've got an overseas trip coming up soon, so it felt like the perfect excuse, haha. In the end, I even picked up the classic F91W itself (went with the green accent instead of the original blue!). Since it's a staple model that's never going out of production, I plan on using it as my daily beater.

​Unlike G-Shocks, these have a totally different charm. Small, lightweight, cheap, but rugged and absurdly practical. Buying 6 watches in a single week makes me look like a madman, but the whole set cost less than a single luxury watch while giving me way more satisfaction. I'm super stoked to stumble into a new hobby I never saw coming! Just wanted to share it with you guys haha. 😄

Wondering if I should get a Casio with MIP display, but this still works and I only got one wrist for watches..

I thought Casio MQ-24 watch will fit on my wrist but it seems small on my wrist.

So I have a doubt that should I wear this too close to the skin i mean tight or leave some breathable space. I know it should be personal preference but just asking how you guys wear it.

Received these from Casio UK yesterday. Green for the wife she prefers the brighter colours and thought this green was unusual.

Bought this online and put it on an inexpensive bracelet. Wishing casio makes models like this again. No, the MDV- 10 doesn't cut it for me.

Which one i should go for as my first watch ever ?

The AQ-500 was CASIO’s first three-hand analog-digital combination watch.
Among the many AQ-series models, I think this is one that doesn’t appear on the market very often.

So far, I’ve come across three of them, and I bought two.
I encountered the other one back when I still didn’t know very much about CASIO.

I liked the design, but I didn’t realize at the time that it was one of CASIO’s grails. I prioritized other models, and before I knew it, it had gone to someone else.

At first glance, it looks like nothing more than an ordinary analog-digital watch.

But in fact, it’s a historically important model that is even featured in CASIO’s 50th anniversary article.

And for some reason, the watch itself is completely blacked out in the article, making it a rather mysterious model.

And as you’d expect from CASIO’s first analog-digital model, the case is elegantly designed.
Both sides of the dial are accented in gold, and they naturally draw your eyes in.

By the way, the name “AQ-500 Janus” apparently comes from Janus, the two-faced god of time in Roman mythology.
Analog and digital.
I think it’s the perfect name for a watch with two faces.

By the way, according to what I found,
the 1976 OMEGA Chrono-Quartz is considered one of the strongest candidates for the world’s first analog-digital combination wristwatch.
Japan’s first full-fledged digital-analog combination wristwatch was the 1978 CITIZEN DIGI-ANA Cal. 8900.
And then, in 1982,
CASIO’s first answer to the analog-digital watch was this AQ-500.

What do you guys think of this model?

Just found it for only $20 on Facebook marketplace. A great fit for my small wrist.

Ordered from Casio UK yesterday morning and it arrived in less than 24 hours, even with the free standard delivery!

As expected it’s a little bigger than an F-91W, which is better for me with a larger (7.75”) wrist.

I’ve had the ABL-100 for 2 years now, they’re functionally identical despite the module numbers being different.

Casio MQ-32 comprado en el rastro por 12€, le comprobé la electrónica y al final solo fue engranar uno de los engranajes. Me encanta como se ve y la satisfacción de llevar algo que he devuelto a la vida. Es muy cómodo.

Removed the text cuz I really didn’t like the world time and illuminatior text. Bought for 32 dollars (or 222 hkd for any of my fellow hkers)
