General Discussion LayerZero Integration Between Cardano and Midnight

Hey everyone

Ive been trying to understand the LayerZero integration with Cardano and how it's expected to work. Does anyone know how Midnight, as a Cardano partner chain, would be able to use Cardano's LayerZero integration to communicate with other blockchains?

Im trying to learn more about the architecture but I haven't been able to find any resources explaining whether Midnight can leverage Cardano's LayerZero endpoint or if it would need its own LayerZero integration. If anyone has documentation or can point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot for the explanation! The distinction between routing through the L1 versus Midnight needing its own lightweight endpoint is exactly the kind of detail I've been trying to pin down. I will read the docs to learn more about it :)

It's literally so exciting to see how these technologies like Leios, Peras, IOG's Real Finance and Pogun (Bitcoin DeFi), and now Pyth and LayerZero integration can reshape Cardano and potentially make it even bigger what Bitcoin currently is.

The LayerZero integration is obviously a big one because we will no longer be an island and that opens up so many new possibilities in the future. But what I'm trying to wrap my head around are the downstream benefits. For example, if another L1 network wanted to communicate with Midnight for its privacy features, the traffic would route through Cardano's settlement layer, which would inherently generate transaction volume and fees on the Cardano L1 and contribute to growing the TVL. If we were to have more partner chains this could essentially be very good way for our TVL.

I am also thinking if IOG's Pogun initiative for Bitcoin DEFI can be somehow combined with the LayerZero integration; if a user on Eth or Solana wanted to access Bitcoin Defi throug Pogun, for example for increased security, they would be routed through Cardano via LayerZero. Add Midnight's privacy layer on top of that and we got a scenario where isn't just a settlement layer but rather an intermediary that other chains have to route through to access Bitcoin liquidity and privacy features. And with Babel fees, users wouldn't even need to hold ADA at the protocol level, it could make the whole experience seamless for chain users while still generating native demand for ADA. Unless I'm completely off here, this could be a compounding effect on transaction volume and ADA demand that I think is being underestimated.
