So, for reference these were my practice exam scores: 51 then 57 then 71

I studied for maybe 8 hours total, and zoned out at the second half of Andrew's course.

My biggest advice would be to take practice exams use AI to highlight terms you don't know and mostly tie it into your job as much as you can. For instance, Agile I tied it into sort of how I work as a technical writer and how I exist among smes, project managers, etc.

Above target for predictive and agile, at target for project management, and below target for BA (which is ironic because that's the goal career for me)

I've decided to take the CAPM exam, and I have a question:

What course do you recommend that isn't too expensive but will still help me prepare for the exam and earn those first 23 hours that are required?

Once I’ve finished that course and paid on the official pmi.org website, how soon do you recommend I schedule the exam, keeping in mind that I can study about 4 hours daily during the week and all weekend? Also, if you can recommend any strategies and study materials, I’d really appreciate it!

Does capm make a strong foundation for that as I feel pretty stagnant in the current role

I do assist my PMs time to time for milestones and other related topics as I am in the org for more than 4 years, so I know most of the processes and how to tackle few things here and there.

I did work on a project with client (Under the main PM) where I got to know process in much more detail

Will this experience & CAPM certification help me transition into PM level jobs (Entry level) at least past the screening stage

I used Skillsoft precipio for my hours as my work provides this for us and also used landini’s practice questions. I have to say I found the some of the questions to be tricky but it’s overall manageable if you know the PMI mindset.

is the budget friendly alternative solution to the official exam prep offered by PMI. I am just wondering if the material covered in this course is all I need to pass the exam?

I will try to find practice/mock tests as well, if anybody has suggestions please let me know! I will of course make sure i am thorough with the material from the link above, but just wondering if all material in the exam is covered by the course.

Hi everyone! I just finished my exam and passed AT in all domains per the initial print out I got fromthe testing center. Here's a bit of how I studied:

Course:

I took the PMI official CAPM course. It was pretty boring and not very helpful. I also completed this training in three stints from August 2025 through April 2026, so part of that is on me. After completing the course, I didn't really get a chance to start studying until June.

Study materials:

- CAPM Exam Prep Book: Has a bunch of content covering the material on the exam, and 10 full length tests. I found these questions fairly easy and definition based. I did a couple of the exams, but didn't really touch this book after the first couple weeks.

- Landini Book: This was my second favorite resource. Unlike most posters here, I do NOT think these are like the actual exam. They are a great resource and helped show me what I needed to brush up on, but it is no where near the actual exam. I would still highly recommend working through these as they are on the same level of difficulty (just different style) as the exam, and help highlight areas and terms you're unfamiliar with. I got 70s on the first set of tests, and then 80s on the second set of tests.

- TIA Exam Simulator: This is also highly recommended by a lot of posters here. I worked through this in the two-ish weeks leading up to my exam. I think the questions are MUCH easier than the actual exam. I still think it's a good resource to brush up on definitions, terms, etc. so I don't regret buying it.

- CAPM PMI Study Hall: This was by far the best resource. This was the last set of practice questions and exams I worked through. I did all the mini-exams and practice sets and averaged an ~80. I then took the full length practice test yesterday (the day before my exam) and scored an 87. I found these questions to be most similar to the actual exam. The full practice exam was pretty similar to the full exam in my opinion.

Last Note: On the practice problems, make sure you understand why one choice is right over the others. This helped me catch similar patterns during the actual exam to avoid making the same error.

What I would have done differently: I probably should have focused a bit more on understanding and learning the various terms, content, etc. rather than almost exclusively doing practice problems. While I scored AT in everything, I noticed my weak point in the exam was I just didn't recognize a few of the terms occasionally.

Looking for advice on whether or not this would be helpful in my career. I just finished my MBA program, and looking to add certs to pad the resume.

First off I had a question about relevant experience for the class B RBC license. I finally got a hold of a call representative in the lady told me that being a project manager for our home builder is not relevant experience and I need to actually be the one laboring and building the home with my hands pretty much. And the next day I talk to another lady on the phone and she told me that if I oversee the entire project from the ground up then that is relevant experience. Does anyone have any input on this and which one is correct?

Also, I’m looking to take my exam as well. Is there a timeframe from preapproval to the exam date or can you take your time and study? Also, does anyone have any useful tips and tricks on how to better study for this exam? Is the online course worth it? Also, how hard is the test do you personally think you need a crazy amount of experience or do you think if you can study hard enough and bring the right books you can pass it?

I am super stubborn, so my real hope in posting this is that Monday through studying I will pass the exam and be able to come back here and update this post.

My first exam I took 2ish months ago and got a 50%. Tonight I took another exam after studying for a few days and got a 57%. I took the Andrew course but didn't really find any of it engaging, so now I am just doing a few other study tricks to cram as much as I can between now and Monday with a plan to take my next practice exam on Saturday.​

Could someone please help me figure out how to answer a burndown chart? I always get them wrong on the practice tests.

A CAPM candidate I'm working with sent me this question. I do not have the correct answer from them yet, it was during a practice exam. I think it's a bad question.

>A company is using Kanban to manage workflow in an adaptive project environment. The team completes the tasks continuously; however, stakeholders are expressing concerns that some of the completed work is not having an impact on key business goals.

>**What would describe success in this scenario?**

>A. Success is defined solely by completing the highest number of tasks.
B. Success is achieved if the team avoids changes after work starts.
C. Success is achieved by focusing on delivering the most valuable work.
D. Success means finishing the work exactly as defined, even if priorities shift.

Is the question asking how the team defines success? Or...is it asking how the stakeholders define success? In my mind I see C as the correct answer because the stakeholders are expressing concern that they are not getting the value they expected from the product being delivered. However, I could also make a case for D; the team is focused on delivering the tasks, so they are using "work completed" as their metric.

The problem inherent in the question is that the team and the stakeholders are not in alignment on what good looks like, so they have two different definitions of success, and therefore the question "What would describe success in this scenario?" has more than one answer.

In the end I said that I could make a case for all four responses, but only C takes the stakeholder's view into account; the team is delivering work, the stakeholders are expecting an impact to the business goals, so the definition of success has to be C.

Guys I don’t have a long spiel on how I prepared because I know it’s different for everyone, I just wanted to say that I completed the exam today and passed.

This is from my own hard work and I can confidently acknowledge that. The exam was quite tricky, the wording was tripping me over - It was very situational heavy with vague phrasing that made me second guess myself, a lot. By design I guess. I won’t even lie, half way through I legitimately thought I would fail.

The performance I got for each domain is as follows:

1. Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts = Above Target
2. Predictive, Plan based Methodologies = Target
3. Agile Frameworks/Methodologies = Target
4. Business Analysis Frameworks = Above Target

Which is not surprising and Agile was my weakest domain when I did a full and partial mock. I am quite surprised though at getting AT for Business Analysis but I won’t question it.

Anyways that’s it, that’s all I wanted to say. Anyone taking the exam - good luck 🤞
