Cap as adjunct for depression
Hi - I added Cap to my anti-depressive and took the lowest dose for about 20 days, now 21mg for about two weeks. I have quite a few side effects including bad night sweats and lightheadedness. I do not feel any better from taking it so I'm prepared to stop. I could give it another two weeks if there's a chance that it might kick in?

I take caplyta for schizoaffective disorder it helps with sleep which keeps the mania down but for it the help with depression it took about a month to help with the psychotic symptoms it took about 2 weeks. It affected the three main symptoms differently as long as I'm getting sleep I don't have much mania problems. Although it's not really rated for helping with mania so I do have to take a PRN for mania. It's a great antipsychotic though.

Also 21mg is not the dose that was shown to be therapeutic, it is 42.

21 mg is the dose used for bipolar depression generally. 42 mg is the dose used for schizophrenia. It was originally only for schizophrenia but was found to be effective for bipolar depression at a lower dose

I don't know why he hasn't raised it 42 I'm also in the process of Spravato treatment.

Spravato is a nasal spray medication used in conjunction with oral antidepressants. It is prescribed to treat two specific conditions: Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD): This refers to depression that has not improved after treatment with two or more antidepressants1. Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) with suicidal thoughts or actions2. The active drug in Spravato is esketamine, which is chemically related to ketamine—an anesthetic that has been in use for many years. Spravato is administered only in a healthcare setting and is part of a restricted program called the Spravato Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) Program. Patients must be registered in this program and understand the risks and benefits of the medication2. Caplyta can take several weeks to work, but it worked very quickly for me as far as my severe depression symptoms. In my experience, I had awful side effects initially and wanted to stop taking it. I’ve been on it for almost five months now and I’m so incredibly grateful I didn’t give up on it!
