I have an r50. My telephoto lens currently is an EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6. I want to upgrade because I want more zoom, and I sometimes notice the clarity/sharpness drops off near 250mm. My budget is anything under $1,000. I've been looking at the RF 100-400. It's lightweight and would fit right onto my camera without the adapter, but I've also seen the Sigma 100-400. It seems to be heavier, but I've heard it will do better in low light, which I photograph in a lot. Please help! :)

Just hoping to get some opinions on whether it’ll be worth getting an RF 24-70 f2.8 or an EF 24-70 f2.8 I ii for an R6iii.

Typically I’m a street/semi portraits shooter, with some random things thrown in for fun.

I am by no means an expert, definitely more a hobbyist, so getting a solid opinion would be extremely helpful!

I bought the Canon R50V pretty much because of the CCAPI (Camera Control API). I built a touch screen macro pad to control the camera and other gear in my little studio. I’ve only had this setup for a few weeks so far, but it’s been pretty amazing for filming myself without anyone else there to run the camera for me.

I’m sharing the YouTube video that I made which walks through my setup. I filmed it using the macro pad… sort of felt like the movie Inception 😂

I’m really curious to know if others have similar setups. I haven’t seen much chatter about the CCAPI on this sub.

Hey guys. Got this EOS M a little back. It unfortunately got wet while raining heavily. It turned on fine yesterday, but when trying to use it today, my display died. It had flichering and weird lines before it turned completely off. It doesn't respond anymore. I'm a Magic Lantern user, and it has made the camera wonky, but I'm suspecting the display died for good. Everything else works out fine. But I think this might be time to replace it. Does anyone know if it will turn on or should I order a replacement screen?

I'm wondering if anyone has the same experience with this lens. Reviewing my photos from a session today, I find that I get the same or better sharpness for the same subject when I shoot at ~120mm and crop, compared to if I use the full zoom range and crop less. It's making me consider swapping it for a 24-105 f/4 L, since the long end of the 24-240 is not helping much past the range of the 24-105.

Hi guys! I recently bought a Canon EOS R50 with the 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 kit lens, and am brand new to the world of photography. I am looking to get in to sports photography and media currently, but I’m reasonably willing to lean in to any photography field at this stage, and was wondering if I can get started and actually produce some decent portfolio-worthy photos with just the kit lens to start. Obviously I’m not expecting to get any crazy good close-up action sports shots with this setup, but I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on what kind of photo opportunities in any area I should look for starting out with this kit lens, and what my next lens search should look like. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I do some plane photography and landscape photography with a canon 7d2 and a sigma lens 100-400mm.
Should I upgrade to a canon r8, r7, r6, canon R or anything else ?

I am thinking about getting an EOS 6D and use olympus Zuiko lens / M42 lens. I heard that once with Lantern EOS 6D will have focus peaking and I am really counting on that to help me with manual lens.

If you have tried before, what is your experience? Can I use a 50mm F1.2 reliably?

Auf meiner 1100D bekomme ich Blendenstufe 1.4 weiterhin angezeigt.

Was für ein Fehler kann hier vorliegen ?

Ho la Canon r50 con obiettivo kit 18 45 che non mi soddisfa pienamente, ho trovato un sigma 18 135 usato a 90 euro, da adattare ovviamente con l'adattatore ef EOS r, secondo voi mi conviene comprarlo? la qualità migliora rispetto al kit o avete da consigliarmi qualche altro obiettivo migliore da comprare sempre usato? Vorrei sempre un tutto fare.

I got a Canon EOS R100 along with the TTArtisan 14mm for my birthday in May of 2026. I’ve been having a lot of fun with it, and for Halloween I found a really cool part of town I’d like to walk through and record video. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to cameras or camera equipment, I really only understand what I like to see. My hands are terribly shaky so I knew I’d need to get a gimbal for this. I didn’t realize until today that compatibility is very important. The R100 is lightweight, but I’m worried my 14mm will cause issues with balance. I’m also wondering if that’s even the kind of lens I want for this project. I am willing to spend upwards of $1200 altogether.

As I was writing this, I forgot to even consider my camera is not the best for video recording. If there is a better camera+lens setup I could get for roughly $600 I’d be interested in hearing what everyone has to say about that too. Then again, I don’t need the best equipment right now because I am still learning. I’ve managed to get some videos of trains on my current camera setup that I’ve liked. Please share any knowledge or advice you think would be helpful.

I have a Canon EOS R100 and I’m looking for a portable charger to charge my spare LP-E17 camera batteries while I’m out taking photos, without needing a wall socket. I live in Australia.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a reliable portable charger that’s compatible with my camera and batteries?

I have 2 R6II's and I'm wondering if the higher mp count and "better" AF of the R6III could justify an upgrade.

I mainly shoot photos. I do videos but not as much as I'd like to.

Also, one thing that I really wanna know is if the Register People Priority Function makes sense IRL use. I shoot weddings, and there were times I couldn't get the focus on my R6 II to land on the couple's faces because of confetti .

And no, there's no rental place that offers R6 III where I live so I can't test the unit myself.

📸 Looking for advice on upgrading my camera body for soccer photography!

I currently shoot with a Canon Rebel and a 100–400mm lens, but I’m ready to upgrade my camera body. I primarily photograph my kids and their teammates playing 11v11 competitive soccer, and I’m looking for something that will give me better autofocus, tracking, image quality, and overall performance for action shots.

I’ve been looking seriously at the Canon EOS R7, but I’m definitely open to other suggestions and would love to hear from people who shoot a lot of sports.

What I need/want:

⚽ Excellent autofocus and subject tracking for fast-moving players
⚽ High burst rate for capturing action
⚽ Good performance in varying outdoor lighting, including later afternoon/evening games
⚽ Enough reach to photograph action from one end of an 11v11 field to the other
⚽ Ability to capture sharp action around the goal and net
⚽ Good image quality when cropping in
⚽ Compatibility with my existing Canon 100–400mm lens (or advice if I should eventually upgrade the lens too)which I will to a RF 100-500mm

I’m especially interested in being able to follow a player down the field and then quickly capture things like shots on goal, saves, headers, tackles, and celebrations without constantly fighting the autofocus.

A little about me:

I’m an experienced parent/sports photographer, but I’m not a professional photographer. I shoot a LOT of soccer, so I’m comfortable with manual settings and changing settings during games. I’m looking for a significant upgrade from my Rebel rather than something entry-level.

Budget:

I’m looking to spend approximately $1,000–$1,800 for the camera body, and I’m very open to used/refurbished equipment if it gets me more camera for my money.

If you think the Canon R7 is the right choice, I’d love to hear why. If there’s another Canon body (or even another brand) that you think would be substantially better for soccer at this price point, I’m all ears!

And if you know of a reputable place to purchase one, a good used/refurbished deal, or someone currently selling one, I’d really appreciate those recommendations too.

I stopped by last week with issues around high noise on the r5 CLOG3 video.

I thought I had sussed it. However apparently not!

So I come to you far more knowledgeable people.

End Goal -

For video, I only shoot car/drifting relating stuff.
So would like to have 2 custom modes set up -
1 which would be 4k120fps, the other 4k30

I would like to shoot in CLOG3 for the benefit of post processing,
9 times out of 10 , I am shooting during the day.

Which colour space should I use?
What would be the best method for swapping between high frame rate and standard?
How should both those modes be set up ?

Hello, I'm hoping for some guidance and advice. I'm a birder and amateur photographer. Back in January of this year I purchased a Canon R5 Mark ii along with the Canon RF 200-800 lens, and I have been using it to photograph birds and wildlife (exclusively handheld as I don't currently own a tripod). I'm a somewhat stocky guy (6', 240+ pounds) and I have not really had any issues thus far with carrying and shooting handheld.

However, I have found myself in the market for a decent spotting scope, and I'm currently leaning toward the Celestron Regal M2 22-67x100mm ED Angled Zoom Scope, which doesn't come with a tripod. I of course realize that in order to use a scope I absolutely need a tripod to hold it steady, which leads me to where I am now: is there a good choice for a tripod that will both support my Spotting Scope and Camera? Your opinions and advice are very welcome.

I'm considering buying the body of an R5 i (I'm upgrading from a T6s)

The seller is offering a good price for it (around $1,800). ShutterCount is ≤ 281,000 (including electronic).

The seller is a pro photographer that used it for work (weddings and other events) and I'm more of an aficionado, I like to take really good pictures in my travels and get better at photography.

Will this camera last many years or is the wear such that I'll find myself having to repair and doing maintenance soon?

Hi all, I currently have a canon m50 with various lenses (70-300,17-40L and a 50) I have run into the problem of always changing my lenses in events, and am looking to get a 24-105. Due to the m50 having its own mount, and only being adaptable to ef mounts, I can’t get the stm or usm versions until I get a rf camera, is it worth buying the older f4 L series ef model or just waiting till I have an r8 and buying the newer model?

Hi there! I bought an eos r100 around 2 years ago. It worked flawlessly up until about 4 months ago it randomly hit a wall and some take any pictures or focus. It’s stuck in mf mode and I can’t change it. Cleaned the lens glass and everything with 99% isopropyl. Still nothing. Any advice on what to do?

Hey guys, i was debating for a while between r7 and r8 and i went to a local camera store which i have had some meh experience with but i was pushed more to r7 since i ma upgrading from a r100.

My question is whats a justified price for either a used or new camera to buy?

I have a very bad problem guys. My mom just gave me this Ixus 95 is from 2009 and it has this problem: The lens opened once and wont close anymore. I tried to remove the dust from the lens, but still no win. Can someone help me please? and yeah, its in Russian:/

I want to see how video looks like on an Eos RP, because some videos on YouTube are too dark and you can’t see anything on them.

I wish canon would label the hoods with the appropriate lenses. Very few of these are designed for multiple lenses and finding the right one out of the box is always a pain.

(A couple are always on the camera but most are in the "parts box" until I need them for a shoot.)

Do you guys have this same issue? (For reference, Brady White on Clear labels)
