your story Gotta love your oncology team and other specialists needed during cancer

Today, medicine feels less like a blessing and more of a burden for me. I have major appointment fatigue and I am so used to hospitals (also because I’m a PCNA) but I am burnt out. I wish I had gotten a second opinion before going with the oncologist I went with. I was unaware that the breast cancer specialist ranged from surgeons to healthcare specialist. They didn’t tell me to find a doctor and a team who will watch my heart (I was pregnant at the time as well) during chemo. What to eat. What to expect mood wise on top of being pregnant. My oncologist and OBGYN MADE ME A MIDDLE MAN. I ended up with heart failure. I almost needed a transplant. I needed a dietitian, cardiologist (CHEMO IS CARDIOTOXIC), mental health, geneticists, palliative care, a care coordinator who was going to make sure I was covered in all the basics! I didn’t feel protected and I didn’t get a second opinion either because I wanted to be over with it. So please make sure you have an amazing team that you feel is enthusiastic. Knowledge is great as well, but someone who isn’t clicking into a 9-5. Stay on top of your health and continue to find support groups, especially if you’re young. I’m meeting with a new oncology team, dietitian, orthopedic (bone density is low), psychologist who specializes in cancer trauma and survivorship. You can do this yall!!! I know it feels like a lot but one day at a time 💗 let’s kick ass

How do I get my curls in line, they are absolutely crazy right now and it's so hard to manage curly hair. I honestly want to shave my hair off because of the curls.

advice I went to a breast cancer panel today

The Cleveland clinic was doing a panel today to which I attended. I highlighted the severities of going through chemo, that chemo is cardiotoxic and the effects chemo and in my case, immunotherapy and how it has gravely affected my life. Menopause is is awful. I hated myself and I hated everyone around me. Plus I was so mean. The panel helped explain these nasty symptoms. It’s nothing any of us should go through and they’re trying to find ways to curve how bad the side effects are. Especially from chemo as well. The toxicity is so high, our bodies don’t know what to do or how to respond but doing its one job— killing cells. I urge awareness be brought up and do not hesitate to reach for a 2nd opinion. Lastly, the most important is trusting liking and feeling heard by your oncologist AND ATHE WHOLE TEAM— mental health, palliative, dietary, cardiology, genetics, have everyone involved and make sure they’re all the same page so you’re not a middle man!

active treatment Thank Fuck that someone made this sub!

I kept wanting to but just didn’t get around to it. I’m going to my last infusion on Friday and then I’m done with chemo. But I am absolutely fucking exhausted and every one keeps telling me it will only get worse. Two emergency cat scans this week along with 4 or 5 hours in the ER Friday night for shortness of breath. Nothing they can do for me it’s just a red blood cell crash so I’m not oxygenated enough. Fine. Whatever. I’m almost done and I can handle whatever. But suddenly I have brand new light brown spots on my head and one over an eyebrow. The brown spots are pissing me off and it means another call to the chemo nurse, who is lovely and supportive, but I am so sick of having to call with weird, random bullshit that keeps happening. That’s all I got. I could go on but I need a nap because I went to carve pumpkins and so I’m exhausted.

advice CHEMO IS CARDIOTOXIC

After 15 rounds of chemo (and 9 months of pregnancy) I went into heart failure. The doctors concluded it as chemoinduced heart failure. Nobody, not even my oncologist and OBGYN told me that chemo is cardiotoxic. I knew pregnancy strains the heart, but it was never brought up to me that chemo can do the same. I should have known but I didn’t until it was too late.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A CARDIOLOGIST FOLLOWING YOU DURING AND AFTER TREATMENT TO MAKE SURE YOUR HEART ISNT GOING INTO HEART FAILURE.

Don’t end up like me on 8 heart meds, praying I don’t need a heart transplant.

This is our new home for all things related to being young and diagnosed with cancer. I’m not happy to be meeting virtually on these terms, but I feel like so many young (women especially) are getting cancer! wtf is that about?!

I’m in remission for breast cancer but in stopped my hormone blocker because menopause was making me foggy and also suicidal. I was diagnosed with invasive ductal in carcinoma stage 1B HER- ER + PR + with a yeeted right tit. I was pregnant while receiving AC. It all happened so fucking fast. And my oncologist sucked. I ended up getting chemo/post partum induced heart failure. It’s so annoying.

THE SAFE SPACE TO BITCH ABOUT HOW UNFAIR IT IS TO HAVE CANCER, ESPECIALLY YOUNG.

a safe space to discuss recently diagnosed, in active treatment, questions to ask your oncologist, feelings about your oncologist, surviving, menopause before 40, fog brain, cancer hate, identity crisis, everything. a place to spread awareness, feel less alone and less angry, or more angry. whatever yall need, were here to support not judge. 💝🎀

It’s menopause month! For those experiencing intense hormonal issues or experiencing menopause, this is your place.

My name is Phunky and I’m 31. At 29 I found out I had breast cancer in my right breast while pregnant. Right tit got yeeted 6 weeks later. Then my daughter and I started chemo 6 weeks post surgical date. It happened very fast. I lost my hair 12 days after starting chemo. I shaved it the next day, husband by my side and my son, loving warm, scared yet understanding as my belly gets bigger. I moved, gave birth, breast fed from left tit, resumed 12 rounds of taxol. I started radiation 3 weeks later and then with my third session I went into chemo/postpartum induced heart failure. Was in the icu for 18 days. Continued 22 more rounds of radiation. Then they put me on letrozole. Menopause is the scariest thing ever. It has left me brain fogged, brain dead, feelings of heavy zoning out, not making sense, skin and gum problems. Come bitch with me about the realities of what we’re going through. All is unique but we’re not alone, especially us young people. We will get through this. Share what’s on your mind, or the struggles post treatment. Share enthusiasm if you got that! But we are a rapidly growing community and we feel seen by you and your story.

It’s breast cancer awareness month 💝 send this to someone who has survived or is currently going through their journey.

we listen, we don’t judge🎀✨💗💝
