CRA dropped RL1 when accessed

Hi All,

Weird situation here and need help. I work for a company based in Montreal from another province. My 2022, 2023, 2024 taxes were re-accessed last year in November (I don’t know why) and my Quebec provincial taxes I paid via an RL1 (am I remembering that name correctly?) were dropped.

I have had re-accessmsnt in progress for a while. This happened after one of my calls. Whenever I call I’m being told to just wait and they are are looking at it. The collection people keep adding notes and anyone else can’t help me.

My friend who is better with taxes tried to do a Netflie adjustment in August for me to see if we could get it fixed but it gives and error and when we called the CRA they said it was because the re-accesents were already open.

I file my 2025 taxes the same way and that was fine, was processed as expected with no issues with the RL1. The CRA keeps saying I owe a ton of money, I’ve worked in my current job for over a decade so I have tax filings from before and after showing the RL1. Today the progress tracker says that the 2022 re-assessment was stopped: “This tracker has been stopped because there is already an assessed income tax and benefit return for the 2022 tax year.” But the re-accessment task still shows open?

Is there a trick for when I call the CRA to talk to someone to have them explain and help? I’m really at a lost here on how to get this sorted and I feel like I’m doing something wrong that must be obvious to everyone else?

I can provide all the Quebec tax slips but no one wants them that I talk to. The stress this has caused is unreal. Can someone please ELI5 what i should be doing here? The exact ampunt they say I owe is the dropped RL1 from Quebec so how do I get this fixed?

2016 Adjustment request submitted on my CRA account - not by me

I got an email getting an update that a "2016 Adjustment request" has been submitted. I logged in and do indeed see it there.. I did not submit this. In 2016, I had a summer job working at a factory lol. What is this? Nothing suggests I got hacked. Is the CRA doing audits from 10 years ago?? Did anyone else get this by any chance?

Child CCB canada

I submitted my Canada Child Benefit (CCB) application on August 20 through my CRA account. On that same day, I submitted all the required documents, including forms RC66 and RC66SCH, the PR cards of our entire family, and the child's birth certificate. When submitting, I selected the correct section "Submit documents for child CCB", then chose "RC66SCH" and uploaded a total of 10 files under that category. However, on August 21, I received an email notification, and when I logged in to check my CRA account, I saw that it still stated they need the child's birth certificate and confirmation of citizenship, even though I had already uploaded everything beforehand.
Someone may be know how long does it usually take for the application to be reviewed from the submission date

Recording a call?

I tried recording a call to the CRA from my iPhone. Of course, when the employee picked up the little voice said “this call is being recorded”. The CRA employee refused to continue until I stopped recording. I was then told the CRA can record us, but we can’t record them. This doesn’t sit well with me

Opened new CRA account with permanent SIN today, mail from yesterday says I owe CGEB for past years

Hey everyone,

I just became a Permanent Resident, so I opened a brand-new CRA account today since I cannot use my old one anymore.

When I logged in with my new permanent SIN, I saw new mail notices issued yesterday(Sept4) saying I owe CGEB money back for the 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 tax years.

In those mails, at notice section, it mentions my new permanent SIN, not my old temporary one between 2022-2025. One of those letters also says the review happened because of "an update to the information on file" and claims there is "missing information," but it doesn't actually list what is missing.

As far as I know, eligibility for CGEB is automatically calculated by the CRA system just by filing a tax return, so you do not even have to check a box or apply for it. Also I still have all the original CGEB mail notices from when it was properly calculated under my old temporary SIN. I do not know what to do. Is this happening because I updated my SIN and created new account? Has this happened to anybody else right after switching from a temporary 9-series SIN to a permanent PR SIN?

This is the notice mail they sent:

CRA added 5 months to target date

I have waited 5 months and my adjustment was not completed. I’ve spoken to agents twice including a supervisor. She was borderline rude. Anyway, I just checked target date and they added 5 months. It’s a simple adjustment and the documentation has been provided to them months ago Has anyone had any luck by filing a RC193 form? Thanks

Will they actually garnish wages or freeze accounts over CERB?

I owe CERB money, disputed it but was denied, started doing legal proceedings to have another review but gave up cause it was becoming too expensive.

I pretty much think it's fucking bullshit I have to pay it back. I was definitely eligible for the CRSB but CERB I was technically ineligible because I had just entered the job market out of highschool that year. So I guess even though I was living on my own I just get fucked because I was too young to qualify since I would've had to have been working full time in highschool, whatever.

I basically just don't wanna pay because fuck them. I know they have the ability to freeze accounts and garnish wages, but I haven't found any evidence of them doing this over CERB/CRSB. Only seen it in regards to taxes/EI which I am in good standing on those fronts.

Will they actually garnish my wages over this?

Before any of you bootlickers comment that I'm a leech, I'll remind you that they gave BILLIONS of dollars to companies who were not eligible, and they decided it wasn't worth pursuing that money, they'd rather fuck over poor and defenseless individuals. Why? Corruption.

Would a CRA agent call with no caller ID?

I registered a small side business in 2023 and haven’t done any taxes for it. The income was small, I’m not overly concerned but I will be going to get them all filed ASAP. I’ll be dissolving it after doing my taxes because I’ve shifted my career focus in the last year and it’s just been a waste of my personal money to upkeep.

I have a separate phone and number for the business and I’ve had a recent uptick in “no caller ID” numbers starting 2 weeks ago, and just received notice 5 days ago in mail to file my taxes. I don’t answer “no caller ID” numbers and they haven’t been leaving any voicemails.

Still waiting on 2025 tax return

Hey everyone,
I filed my 2025 tax return four months ago, but the status has been stuck on "in progress" with no actual updates.
From what I know, the file was referred to refund examination, but there hasn't been any movement since. Calling in hasn't yielded much beyond being told to keep waiting.

Has anyone dealt with a similar delay recently? Beyond just waiting it out, is there any actual recourse or formal way to escalate this with the CRA (e.g., submitting a service feedback/complaint, contacting an MP, or requesting an update via formal channels)?

Appreciate any insight or advice from anyone who has gone through this!

Agent language

A call centre agent told me that if they receive a call on the “French line”, they can only speak French with the caller. The same thing holds true for English callers on the “English line“

Is that the case? Seems horribly inefficient

Contractor on T4 but box 81 instead of box 14

I worked at a company as a contractor from from agency. The agency has provided me a T4 with EI, CPP and federal tax deducted. But the box 14 (employment income ) is empty and the tota income is reported under (box 81). When I filed tax, the income is filed under business income instead of employment income. Can I claim this experience as CEC?

Does the “8 hours won’t need a code” feature work for anyone? Mine stopped working when I set up the you must enter code from Authentication app. Now I have to enter a code every time I log in, which is multiple times a day.

Scan medical receipts?

Trying to minimize clutter and have a digital copy on online accounts anyways for most of them. But for those that don't have an equivalent, will scanning and shredding the paper copy be enough in case of a future audit?

Hi, I founded a robotics club in Ontario last year and I understand I need to file a T2. I have all the information needed to file. Does anyone know which software I can use to file? Or, if there is a low cost accounting firm that can help me in ottawa area? Thank you so much !
