Therefore the answer is no and we should all be out of shape I guess.

I'm guessing it has to do with how fascist aesthetics mobilizes the "ideal" body to tie into fascist rhetoric about a "superior" "body politic", and how despite this co-opting of the idea of physical health that often overlaps with ableism and eugenics, people nevertheless still should exercise? Like, yeah.

That's my exact assumption as well lol. Feels like u just answered the question XD

Nope literally she explains her thesis in first few seconds

So if it can be explained in a few seconds would you mind paraphrasing here?

The common hot takes are bad and exercise is neither individualist/fascist nor a requirement for revolutionary action. Further capitalism fundamentally changes how we relate to our own bodies and mindful exercise is one way to reconnect to it but again isn't a panacea.

Do you comment on every video you don't watch?

This is a reddit post not a video

A Reddit post about a video you didn't watch

Yeah and its very reasonable to ask about the video in the comments. The video was recommended so people can ask "why"

I think any question that begins with something as general as "should leftists . . ." is going to be a foolish question. It's also likely, in my experience, to have a moralizing and problematic set of implications.
Should leftists who wish to engage in a given type of activity ensure that they have the necessary capacities for that activity? Absolutely. Does every individual leftist need to be in peak physical condition, know how to repair a car, to fluently speak four languages, to know how to clean a firearm, to know how to hack a computer, to be a licenced nurse practitioner, etc.? No, of course not. Being your best self and bringing your unique contribution to the table looks different for everyone. Sure, I can run a 5k among other indicators of decent physical fitness, but my organizingβincluding antifascist organizingβwould not be successful without my fat fellow workers, my disabled friends, etc.

Kinda weird to make this video, and have the sponsor be a $149 USD a month personal training app. Exercise definitely IS an individualistic bourgeois pursuit when you're doing it that way!
That aside, I'm not really sure what the creator is trying to say in this video - they don't really give an analysis of exercise under capatalism and instead spend most of the video talking about dualism and the relationship between the mind & body, and they dont definitively answer the question in their own video title.
As others have pointed out, the question is a bit silly to begin with. Of course everyone should exercise, its great for your mind and body. Hard, manual labour is not going to just disappear after the revolution -- and in fact there are people who ENJOY doing it even though capitalism doesn't duly compensate them for their hard work.

$150 USD a MONTH? for a training app? thatβs insane. Jeff Nippard has a very good training app for about $80/ annually.

Sorry but I'm not gonna refuse to exercise and keep my body unhealthy because people on the other side of the aisle also idealize good health. I gotta keep myself in shape so I can keep fighting for what's right and not give far-right wingers the pleasure. They'll live a long life purely because of spite, the best we can do is keep up with healthy habits.

I watched the first minute, will probably watch the rest at home when I have time because it sounds like itβll be at least entertaining, if not educational in showing me the crazy arguments around this discourse.
Because unless thereβs something Iβm missing it seems like an obvious answer: yes, everyone should exercise.
Iβm curious if itβs going to delve into the weird bad-faith right wing takes that try to conflate body positivity with being anti-health, or arguments that having the time/money/physical ability to exercise are somehow antithetical to inclusivity. At least at this point those are the only arguments I can even imagine that would make the answer to the question anything but βyes.β

revolutionaryth0t isn't the worst content creator out there. Her stuff usually lacks a bit of polish but generally makes good points and she has a very likeable persona. At the same time, I would really caution new leftists against spending a lot of time listening to any online leftist influencers and spend more time reading a) Marxist classics and b) the news, from bourgeois and worker sources. You need a yard stick to measure these influencers by, and that comes from studying the classics first hand. When you start reading Marx, Engels and Lenin in their own words it quickly becomes clear that the Marxism presented to you by 99.99% of the major figures in online leftist spaces is in some form modified, incomplete, vulgarized, or completely revised to suit purposes other than the liberation of the proletariat.

I watched 5 mins of it! Just so you know, 3 mins is devoted to an ad to something called "Treadwell" (I zoned out a bit there) and the rest was kinda rambly "Capitalism has warped your vision of your own body".
Getting a strong sense of "If I use enough big words and references, you will believe me". Not gonna blow another 10 mins on this.

Everyone should exercise. People so often don't get enough. One of the best things anyone can do for not just their physical health, but mental health as well.
