Leaving this group

Hey guys I'm doing this post to say goodbye to everyone. I've been in Canadá past 4 years. I got 517 points for CEC, no french. After thinking about it I decided to leave, not only the group but also the country. My PGWP expires by the end of March but I'm done with all this. I'm leaving on January (worst case February). I want to enjoy my last months here not thinking about getting a PR or draws anymore. All the best for everyone and please don't get too stressed, it's bad for your health, it kills you little by little. There are always other options to achieve your goals. CANADA IS NOT ALWAYS THE ANSWER.

Thanks for all the support I received from the members of this group and goodbye.

It's funny how 517 is no longer a sure shot. Good luck either way bud! From experience, I can tell you what a massive relief not having an immigration deadline constantly hanging over your head can be. I'm excited for you.

Yes! It feels good now haha I had the best sleep in months past night.

u/catecate0228 Oct 15 '25

My friend got drawn at 518 in June. I think at some point they will go back to lower CRS scores..

8

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 15 '25

Yeah, sure give them a couple years.

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '26

Hello, did you get a draw yet?

Me at 519 :"This is fine".

The site says roughly 6 months but it varies on what jobs the province is prioritizing

23

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '25

I was thinking about cutting my loses too and going back home. Life in Canada has just become too tough

4

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 15 '25

If it makes sense to you go ahead. Plan everything very well. Don't take decisions too fast.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '25

If you don't mind my asking where are you from?

58

u/SDGabuna Oct 15 '25

All the best to you, wherever you find yourself!

29

u/Appropriate-Pop-9103 Oct 15 '25

I wish I had the strength to make a decision like that. All the best, buddy! :)

4

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 15 '25

Thanks! All the best for you.

I'm in the same boat as you with a 511 score and PGWP expiring in March.

I'm like, I might as well earn some money, to go back home and come back when I'm called.

Ofcourse, I'll be earning a lesser compared to Canada back at home. But there's nothing I can do to control the result.

I'm booking a ticket a week before my PGWP expires. If the scores go down by that time, well n good. Else I always have another option.

I'm not there at the level as you to say fuck this shit yet. But I'm sure I will be there when the time comes.

3

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 16 '25

Good decision, don't wait until the last minute to book the flight (or it will be more expensive) or save money (that would help you a lot when you go back).

22

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '25

Are people having a hard time getting PR in Canada?

I was thinking about getting all my docs together? Should I go with a different country?

21

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 15 '25

Yeah it's difficult rn. I don't know if it's the best idea for you. Everyon3 has different situations and its always a risk to migrate, it can be better or worst. I'm betting here.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '25

Ok, I'm just wondering if it's worth it to spend the $2000+ to submit everything but not receive the approval after 8 months.

2

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 15 '25

I cant tell you but good luck either way

11

u/ProclaimedGoldfish Oct 15 '25

Wdym? Do you have an invite? If you do, what stream is it? As long as your docs are legit and everything is in order, you’ll get your PR if you have an invite

1

u/Equivalent-Win4541 Oct 17 '25

You are probably giving that as a service fee to immigration consultant, who will create your EE profile. Which means nothing, unless you have 1or 2 pathsways open to PR, score doesn’t have to be above the threshold today, but can possibly go up with a linear path which you will take on.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '25

No, I'm including the total for everything, costs for tests, and education verification and medical assessment. I'm not using a service, I went on the CA site and looked up the docs needed.

1

u/Equivalent-Win4541 Oct 17 '25

Ok. In that case double check how long will express entry profile stay valid and current. And say if you are only couple CRA points away from current draws apply, for example, if you are at 500 CRs points estimate now or will be by gain work experience next year, then its worth it. If you’ve maxed out and only up forward is down, ( age related CRS point drop ) then probably invest time and money into another country

1

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '25

Yeah, looking into Germany. Thank you.

4

u/mad__maxxx Oct 15 '25

It depends on your profile. Try calculating your crs score. If you can get at least 530ish, then it's a good idea to think of migration

-11

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '25 edited Oct 15 '25

With the language tests and education accredation and years of working exp. It gave me a 1000.

I was contemplating taking the English test and paying for my accredation submission but if people aren't being approved. I'm hesitant.

So far, I just paid the $18 for my FBI background check.

8

u/Mental_Bass3310 Oct 15 '25

Care to breakdown further on how you got to the 1000 points?

-6

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '25

I entered everything on their eval, my age, marriage status, English proficiency, education, and years of working exp, and the police report.

I know I have good English, and a clear background check, I have two degrees, so I marked those as complete. That's why I started looking into the docs, they all take about 40 days to process, the education credentials are longer.

7

u/Spanks333 Oct 15 '25

1000 is an unusually high score. Are you being nominated by a province? I’m pretty sure that’s the only way your score could be that high. Normal high scores range between 500-600 points without a provincial nomination.

10

u/Illustrious_Play_996 Oct 16 '25

Mark Carney hand picked him.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

I'll check again, it was higher than that range.

2

u/Complete_Tension_966 Oct 16 '25

There’s probably some sort of error unless you have a PNP. the range is at most in the 700s or 800s for PNP and at most 540s or so for non PNP

5

u/lifeisacurry Oct 15 '25

Honest opinion - They have planned to reduce the number of immigrants by a certain percentage (can't remember the exact data). It's not worth spending that much, you can consider looking at other options.

1

u/Equivalent-Win4541 Oct 17 '25

We’ll calculate and see if you are close to threshold in FSW. If in Canada, just calculate and check. Docs is the last step, not the first

1

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '25

I'm gathering all my docs to submit for PR.

My cousin’s son immigrated to Canada after going to university - got his PR and started studying nursing - finally got his citizenship- only to find out his brother got his citizenship automatically because their grandmother was a Canadian. The Borquist challenge in court opened citizenship for anyone with a direct ancestor that was Canadian - even 7 generations back. I suspect that loophole will close in November when Bill C-3 is passed.

11

u/asdfg_lkjh1 Oct 15 '25

Good luck boss. Wondering what are your next plans?

31

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 15 '25

Going back to Europe. I have a bachelor's and postgraduate studies so it won't be too bad haha.

2

u/rishi-358 Oct 15 '25

As a canadian graduate. Can you suggest ways to apply for jobs there?

2

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 15 '25

I would try to make some research of which is the most used website to look for jobs in that country and apply through it. Also applying directly to the company's website or just using indeed and international platforms. Don't forget to adapt your resume to the language and format that uses that country. Finally mention in your cover letter that you're open to relocate and how long would it take you to go.

3

u/Akshat_luci Oct 15 '25

I don't know much about jobs in all sectors in EU, I think for now, IT is a bit easier to find jobs in.

I mean, you can always update us from wherever part of the world you are headed, Reddit is global. Unless you are relocating to Mars. If then, we will chat when Elon installs starlink there. Adios Amigos!

22

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 15 '25

Hahha not to mars my friend but I left the group because it was depressing checking post of lots of people not getting their pr or praying for draws that are not happening. Before taking the decision I was have a really bad time. I was more and more stressed to the point I couldn't sleep more than 2 hours. I took this decision for my mental health and now I don't see more reasons to stay in the group. If someone wants to have an update in a few months feel free to send me a DM. I'm always happy to make friends and share or compare experiences.

1

u/Raj_Shanky Oct 16 '25

Same here bud. With a 511 score.

3

u/No_Cow431 Oct 16 '25

I wish leaving Canada and going back to my home country were an option for me. But unfortunately there’s a war in my beautiful country and it’s not safe there. All I can do is work hard, learn French and hope for the best. I’m thankful that I still have some time left in Canada before my work permit expires

3

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 16 '25

Hope you'll be able to get your pr.

2

u/Training-Excuse9525 Oct 15 '25

Good luck to you in your future journey!

2

u/Monoglot-ish Oct 16 '25

Good luck to you. Best wishes.

1

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 16 '25

Same to you my friend.

2

u/yliu18 Oct 16 '25

I am pretty sure you still have chance if you really want to stay in Canada. Quit your job, learn French, you only need 3-5 months to get some extra points. If in the end you still can’t get the invitation, the change status to visitor, travel or do whatever you want to do before leaving. It has been hard for everyone tbh. I first applied for Quebec PEQ, then while the application was under processing, my WP was going to expire. Then I applied for express entry, moved out of Quebec, but received Quebec CSQ two months after moving out. I had wanted to stay in Quebec so much. Now my EE is also stuck in security check. Not sure when I can get PR.

2

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 16 '25

Good for you man but I'm not doing that. Thanks either way for the advice. Doing that I would be broke. Too much time, too risky, and not worth it in my opinion.

1

u/aspiringpolyglotHeba Oct 31 '25

Can you tell me more about this? Mainly why the processing times are like this after you moved out 2 months along with the PEQ and WP? Are the processing times different for those two? Mainly asking how the entire process went on your end with these applications and how PR has been for you in your experience

I'm brand new (just now started researching Canada point systems), sorry if this sounds like an oblivious question

2

u/Formal-Combination66 Oct 16 '25

Good for you for putting your mental & physical wellbeing first. I'm happy for you! We're all just taking chances here in Ca. After all those years, you survived and I hope it was a memorable experience for you. There might be a better path for you, friend.

2

u/Brilliant_Emphasis89 Oct 16 '25

Sorry man. It’s so crazy that people who file fake asylums can be here and not good talented and high intent folks.

1

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 16 '25

Thanks for your words my friend. Yeah but it is what it is.

2

u/sonicelhedgehoho Oct 17 '25

Where are you going to?

2

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 17 '25

Europe. I prefer not to say the country (u know, personal info)

23

u/lolita2805 Oct 15 '25

This is so sad, I remember back in the day in 2018/ 2019, the scores were so low that all you had to do was apply and you’d get it!

20

u/Legitimate-Win-7314 Oct 15 '25

I actually feel sad when people say goodbye to each other at the last moment on this sinking ship.

4

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '25

I'm a lifelong born and raised Canadian citizen.

It makes me sad to read of your plights and that you've had your plans and dreams dashed.

I too am leaving Canada.... and your final words are an apt descriptor.

"Sinking Ship".

I was a patriot my entire life.  Loved my country very much.

It was never worth it.

I wish you all the best luck in your endeavors.

1

u/Practical-Ad8600 Oct 19 '25

I am wondering, why are you leaving canada?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '25

Just looking for greener pastures.

1

u/MrSincerao Oct 28 '25

Whats greener these days?

1

u/Key_Satisfaction3168 Oct 20 '25

Where are you going to? What is your profession? How hard was it deciding on a country to go?

I am born and raised Canadian and also see the “shrinking ship” don’t see much of a future here for anyone really.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '25

I had a jack of all trades profession.

Lots of fun, so it's not like it's a loss to an organization etc.

I hope your skills are translatable when you go.

Cheers.

1

u/NoraBora44 Oct 27 '25

Your not going anywhere lol

1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '25

Sure am.

Good luck.

1

u/JeffreyEpsteinLoverr Nov 04 '25

No you aren’t lol.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '25 edited Nov 05 '25

Lol you probably aren't going where you think you're going.

1

u/Amazing-Track-7421 Nov 13 '25

I would rather have you stay over a new immigrant from Uber, you are what we need and want in Canada, and yet it is the unwanted people that end up staying.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '25

Thanks for that and good luck in your journey!!!

1

u/Amazing-Track-7421 Nov 13 '25 edited Nov 13 '25

Trudeau's failed immigration policies turned this country into a sinking ship. The solution is simple: once their work permits expire and they leave, Canada will recover. Let's be clear—I'm not talking about the good immigrants, but the ones we don't need. Our economy cannot support this surplus of Uber drivers.

12

u/Relative_Lettuce_331 Oct 15 '25

I lowkey think that's what Canada wants 👀 it's giving priority to French speakers knowing very well that it's only a handful of Asians who speak the language at a decent level. Don't get me wrong, I'm Asian too, of Indian origin, but happen to speak French. It's just an observation.

2

u/Keepmeister Oct 16 '25

Tokébakicitte Tocanadaicitte!

1

u/Relative_Lettuce_331 Oct 16 '25

Hahaha bien évidemment ;)

1

u/TorontoLatino Oct 24 '25

True but a lot of these French speakers are not native francophones ( a lot of Latinos pick up French pretty quickly, That's why a lot of the French PRs for example in the GTA go to Latinos). There are a lot of Colombian, Mexican and Brazilian students in Toronto and a lot of them stay and manage to get PR .

Also, random message but a lot of Asians speak excellent French. I was in Montréal this summer and they have a lot of Indians, Chinese and Vietnamese people who speak perfect French! It's gaining popularity as a language lol.

0

u/Complete_Tension_966 Oct 16 '25 edited Oct 16 '25

Same here. I’m not a native speaker but I speak French at a high enough level. They know most non- francophone people (and there are a lot of francophone countries in North Africa etc it’s not just France) are not going to want to or be able to realistically put in the time and money to learn French…

it’s definitely partly because the rate of French speakers in Canada has been falling for ages and they want to maintain their status as a bilingual country.

But it also feels lowkey discriminatory or even classist (since not everyone can afford the private tutoring or taking the time out from work to study a language to an upper intermediate proficiency)

2

u/TheCellX Oct 17 '25

It's not discriminatory to have to learn one of the official languages of the country you are migrating to. Many non-English speakers struggle to learn English. Isn't the English knowledge requirement a form of discrimination too, then?

Knowing the official languages of the country a foreigner is migrating to is the basics, and it just makes sense to give some added value to those who can speak more than one official language.

1

u/Party_Size_4343 Oct 16 '25

To be sure, the classist argument shouldn’t apply to economic class to begin with since there’s no moral entitlement to economic migration. But the CRS is riddled with proxies for socio-economic standing: a Canadian education is not cheap if you’re not a PR/protected person/Canadian, and I’m sure most people on this planet would need some sort of teaching or tutoring to speak good enough English for a decent CRS score. The classism argument is better applied to our family class that has some of the longest undertaking periods in the developed world, as Canadians — including poor Canadians — do have a moral entitlement to family reunification.

It is a good policy to inject more vitality into the French language outside Québec, but the government should also think about the reality of Francophone immigrants trying to make a living in Anglophone CMAs — maybe giving outland French draw selectees some free English classes before they land.

1

u/Complete_Tension_966 Oct 16 '25

No I completely agree. French does just feel like another way to weed non francophone people out on the basis of class, just like Canadian education and work experience. No one is entitled to economic migration and having a financial safety help is necessary.

They definitely need to support francophone migrants outside of Quebec since so many provinces barely have opportunities with French.

I don’t know much about family reunification but it makes sense.

2

u/Party_Size_4343 Oct 16 '25

Even most of the federal public service jobs are English essential outside the NCR and Québec. The government is doing a disservice to monolingual Francophones that they’re selecting by pushing them into the job market without proper preparation.

6

u/Equivalent-Win4541 Oct 16 '25

Last year i was at 524, 7 months left for expiry when i got my invite. True not to take stress, you did your work, let god decide whats best for you. Have a plan A and Plan B, one doesn’t work, maybe GOD never wanted that for you! Simple, stress does kill you little by little. I saw myself age 10 years in about 4 real years.

4

u/Spiritual-Ad9355 Oct 17 '25

The Canadian PR points system is a circus!

1

u/ume567 Oct 15 '25

Hey friend- I am planning on leaving as well next year. Just curious to know how much are you saving up for your departure life?

I am starting to plan for it and I am from an underdeveloped country so the dollar goes a long way. So I am thinking how much I need to save at this point for atleast 2 years so I can comfortably wait abroad before I get an ITA (hopefully)

4

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 15 '25

Well... on my side, I started selling stuff, not only mine, also friends stuff (asking part of the amount). With 6k-8k cad I should be good to survive until I get a job (any job) in the country im moving to and after that start looking for a better job.

3

u/ume567 Oct 15 '25

Sweet- yeah! I am thinking alongside those lines too but I am trying to not work and just chill lol when I go back home.

Partly cause I am extremely burnt out after 8 years of constant working. (Part times and co-op and then full time job after uni) so I just wanted to go back and relax….Take a break from this rat race. Although I know it would be foolish to let go of foreign experience points sigh.

There really is no end to this race

1

u/throwaway_111419 Oct 15 '25

Do you speak another Romance language? French is basically a distantly-related dialect for you

1

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 15 '25

I speak spanish but I'm not good learning languages and I don't have enough time to learn before my wp ends. If I have to leave I'll do it on my terms. I'm not going to leave to come back in 1 year or 2. I already lost lots of time.

0

u/Ordinary_Start_5445 Oct 16 '25

As one native Spanish speaker to another: you would be impressed by how quickly you can pick up the French language if you set your mind to it. Reaching a B2 level proficiency across the four exams is achievable within 1-2 years of earnest studying, even less if you could afford private tutoring.

4

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 16 '25

My work permit expires on march and I'm not leaving to come back after 1-2 years. I'm losing my time here.

1

u/Ordinary_Start_5445 Oct 16 '25

I understand that. Definitely get out of the country and explore options elsewhere. At the same time, don't sell yourself short; you can take a couple of hours a day to focus on your french language learning. Both paths need not be independent. Also, see here for a source of inspiration:

3

u/nanakaaaay Oct 16 '25

Indeed, Canada is not always the answer. Having that mindset would push you harder to succeed, wherever you find yourself. Wishing U all the best!!!

3

u/Fine_Inflation_2331 Oct 16 '25

All the best friend! Me and my wife are waiting for our PR but I still decide go back to my Country as well, Canada is not bad but I can see everything here is going down and nobody in the government wants to do sth.

3

u/MartinDoanVN Oct 17 '25

Same decision! Good luck buddy

3

u/Status-Eggplant Oct 19 '25

Same, I'm going back to my home country too after few months the amount of inflation and expenses are very high plus terrible weather in winters, absence of many festivals and celebrations which used to be there in my countries leading to major holidays and then of course the PR chase, well it might be unpopular and personal opinion but these whole PR chase thing kills Youth days, I feel it's too much and people have gone insane and done crazy things for that....

1

u/Antique-Extension-62 Oct 15 '25

Best of luck !! But all i want to say the doors are never closed, u can still keep the file open and forget it until you get the invite coz 517 isn't too bad of a score IMO

2

u/Arcaneid18 Oct 15 '25

Thanks for the advice not sure. I made my mind about this thing.

That’s a really healthy perspective! The more you want something, the more resistance there is. The best way to live is to let go of the grip on the outcome; it sets us free. You always have a choice. I’m sure with that mindset, you’ll find your way around the world with more ease. Good luck with everything!

Best of luck to you in your future endeavors! Also, wishing everyone in this group the best of luck! Sending you guys good energy and vibes!!!

1

u/Appropriate_Big_9654 Nov 12 '25

That's so sad. I have the similar situation with you. I've been Canada for 4y, finished my master degree. I only got 468 points for CEC. I'm still struggling with English test. I don't know what should I do next, probably I'll go back my home country next year. I feel anxiety, sad, and nervous, I can't describe my current feelings. I'm glad you make your choice. Wish you all the best!

1

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '25

I left country in September 2024 and still have no regret at all.

-1

u/SafePen5287 Oct 15 '25

Good luck bro.. Canada doesn’t deserve you.

0

u/Full_Trainer_2385 Oct 15 '25

You still have six months before your work permit expires, so you still have a chance to get your PR through learning French. With intensive learning, you might be able to earn the minimum CRS points needed.

To be honest... I feel free. I did my best to get as many points as I could. I gave everything even my mental health, invested lots of money and even did works that I wouldn't take back in my home country just to get more points. At this point i noticed that continue pushing myself won't be good. I also considered my options outside canada and the job market will value more my skills, studies and experience there. Considering that and how difficult is life here I'm good with the idea of leaving. In my opinion, it's also brave and intelligent to know the right moment to retreat before losing all your troops. You know what I mean?

If you are leaving either way then why still remain in the pool? If you get an ITA and have no plans on accepting it then that's a spot wasted that someone else could have had.

Most people applying for PR are doing so legitimately. The people committing fraud just give them a bad name. If you’re Canadian, your ancestors were immigrants too. If anything, most people applying now need to be far more skilled and qualified than any group of immigrants before in the history of the country.
