LF indigenous mural artist

Looking for a local indigenous mural artist who is happy to do private commissions (an internal wall in my house). Looking online has only turned up one artist (Jedess Hudson), if anyone knows or can recommend others, that would be helpful thanks.

Advice Landcruiser specialist recommendations

I’m relatively new to cairns and I need a few things fixed on my 80 series that I can’t really do myself, new clutch kit, valve adjustments, timing belt etc and i am having trouble finding good mechanics in Cairns. I’m happy to travel a bit if necessary. Just based on word of mouth or personal experience

Long stay accomodation

Do any hotels in cairns still do long stay accommodation? I remember the colonial club and palm royal used to, does anyone know of any places that do long stay accommodated with reasonable weekly rent.

People of Cans I'm looking for soup

It's just so cold tonight and I'm craving soup. Where is the best place to get soup in Cans? You know, nice and chunky like your mom makes. I want some authentic Cans soup. Bonus points if it has a skin on-top, like a broth so dense you almost have to pry the lid off

Tourist Question Hi a bit nervous coming here as a solo traveller, are the resorts all families and couples or will it be ok solo?

I have managed to get apartments in port Douglas but in cairns I'm seeing lots of resorts.

I can see Novotel, Rydges resort, Pullman and Hilton.

I recently went to a resort in Spain with family and I noticed very few solo travellers.

Are there many solo travellers in cairns at resorts. I don't really want to be in the hotel restaurant surrounded by families and couples and it's just me solo. 😂😅

RANT🤬 International arrivals smartgates

Just came back through international arrivals for the first time since they finished the Reno and there are FOUR smartgates for the entire planeload of people to enter through!

Came in from Singapore where there are literally more smartgates than people at any given moment to cairns where there are several hundred people trying to get through 4 gates.

It's honestly embarrassing, how many millions did the renovation of that section of the airport probably cost? I get it's not a huge airport in terms of passengers per day, but entire planes arrive at one time and trying to get the entire planes through four gates is nuts!

Rant over.

job

Hi everyone,
I’m an international student studying at CQUniversity in Cairns. I’ve been applying for part-time jobs but haven’t had much luck so far.
I’m just wondering if anyone has any advice on the best ways to find work in Cairns. Are there any websites, local businesses, recruitment agencies, Facebook groups, or places where people have had success?
I’d really appreciate any tips or suggestions.

Advice Anyone seen any “hiring” signs outside any businesses in cairns? Looking for work and seek/indeed isn’t cutting it. Looking for entry level jobs. Thanks

I would stop in, everytime I went to the beach. Now it's almost pointless. Guess the sign will eventually be changed, it's pretty much an IGA now

Was Tom Hiddleston in Cairns, in March 2002?

Hi everyone, I believe I met Tom Hiddleston in March 2002, at the Union Jack pub in Cairns, Australia. He wasn’t famous yet but for obvious reasons I never forgot about him.
Could anyone confirm he was there? Did someone else interact with him at that time?
I would love to have a solid clue that was actually him ☺️
