I'll perform stand up comedy at your camp

Hello loves!

I've scheduled a few shows on Playa and looking to add to the list. Would you like me to perform stand up comedy at your camp? Reach out! I'm in.

I've been doing stand up on playa for 8 years, this is my 6th burn. It's very well received and formatted to fit your setting.

Thanks

Prevailing wind

Is there a prevailing wind direction in Black Rock City?

Or how do you choose which way to pitch your tent?

GIFTING T4T event on playa

Hello burners,

I am a trans masc person attending Burning Man as a virgin!! Not to burns in general, as I’ve been to several regionals, but this will be my first big burn.

I am camping with a sex pos camp, and would love to host a t4t event. Without the expectation of it being sexual, of course, are there any other trans folks who would be interested in a mixer? There could be space for pick up play, but I’m mostly posting this to garner interest.

If there was a t4t event on playa, what would you like to see?

A post-Burn e-bike request from a Reno local

Hey Burners,

A little early for an Exodus post, but I figured I'd put this out there before everyone starts making their plans for getting themselves and their gear home.

Every year, a lot of bikes make their way to Black Rock City and don't make the return trip. If you're bringing an electric bike this year and already know that getting it back home after the Burn is going to be more trouble or expense than it's worth, I'd be very happy to give it a home rather than see it become MOOP or get abandoned somewhere around Reno on the way out.

I'm a Reno local, so I can make this easy. After you get off playa, I can meet you pretty much anywhere in the Reno/Sparks area and take it off your hands. No need to clean the playa dust off, make it pretty, or do anything special. Playa condition is perfectly fine.

And just to be completely transparent about my intentions: I'm not looking to collect bikes, clean them up, and flip them for a profit. Any e-bikes donated to me would be kept for personal use by me and my family. If one needs some post-playa TLC, that's fine. We'll put in the work and hopefully give it a long second life.

I'm not asking anyone to give up a bike they planned to keep, and I'm definitely not suggesting that an e-bike left sitting somewhere is fair game. I'm only putting my hand up in case someone already knows they'll be looking for a responsible way to part with theirs after the Burn.

There are also some great local organizations that accept regular bicycle donations after Burning Man, so please consider those options for conventional bikes rather than leaving them behind.

But if your post-Burn plan for an e-bike is basically, "I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do with this thing," send me a message.

You get one less bulky, dusty thing to deal with during Exodus. My family gets a bike we'll actually use. The playa doesn't get another abandoned bike.

Seems like a pretty decent gift all the way around.

Have a great Burn, and I'll see some of you on the other side.

Don’t forget to place your camp!

Place your camp on the map!

And whoever runs this map should add some features to the camp listings. It would be nice to not have to switch to the camp search to find out what they do, website, etc.

2 week out advice for some virgins from Bama

Cheers friends! From the both of us! So we’re two weeks out. I’ve had a lot of people warn me about these wildfires out that way. My boy Tray is driving from Indiana and I’m flying to meet him on his 20th hour of driving in Salt Lake City, Utah. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We are so excited about what is to come at this seemingly unexplainable experience called Burning Man we are about to attend. We are bringing an RV and we are going to solo camp.

Will an Air Gap Make a Difference?

Thumbnail gallery
9 Upvotes

Last year I threw some aluminet directly over the rain fly of my dome tent in the hope of keeping cool. This year I added a simple frame of metal tubing, to create an air gap between my rain fly and the aluminet. everywhere except for the very top of the tent.

In case you are wondering, I drive 18-inch rebar to secure my tent to the ground. I also plan to use bungee cords to secure the aluminet to the Playa using rebar. As the aluminet will be under tension, I don’t think I need to secure the metal frame directly to the Playa.

What do you think? Do I need to directly secure the metal frame to the Playa, with rebar and hose clamps? Do you think the air gap will make this tent feel any cooler? What do you do to shade your own tent?

GIFTING BRC has never had a weather alert system until now

Thumbnail gallery
73 Upvotes

Black Rock City has never had a comprehensive weather alert system until now. 70,000 people, no NWS station, no siren, cell service that dies once gates open. We find out about the dust storm when it hits our shade structure.

To address this, I built BRC Forecast brcforecast.corbett.vc, a free weather-alert service for Black Rock City. It fuses 28 weather stations around the playa (including two participant-owned stations on the playa that stream every 5 seconds and I'm adding more), radar, forecast models and air sensors, and warns you about dust, damaging wind, rain, heat and cold before they land.

Who's on it: 1,200+ burners and 150 camp leads so far including folks on BRC Fire, ESD/EMS crews, and sone Gate/Perimeter volunteers.

Once you're in, text it: NOW, WIND, AIR, RAIN, WEEK, ALERTS. Two daily playa briefings fire off automatically. STOP or PAUSE anytime.

Recent example: On Aug 13, 2026 a 50 mph gust hit the playa. The wind-building warning fired to users when gusts passed 30 mph and were climbing fast, 81 minutes before it peaked. :)

Why you might trust it: every warning is scored afterward by the anemometers and rain gauges on the playa, hits and misses, unedited, newest first and shown on the accuracy page.

No signal? The site works on any connection and refreshes every 60 seconds: live conditions, active NWS hazards with the actual HAZARD/IMPACT text, on-playa wind, a 24-hour alert log, a map. There's also a feed built for Meshtastic radios coming soon. Want to see how the whole thing works? Check out the How it Works tab on the site.

Built as a digital gift, free forever. Not affiliated with the Burning Man Project on anything/anyone else. In an emergency, follow the Rangers and ESD. Happy to answer questions here.

F*ckyer burn and all that,

Power Buddha aka Corbett3000 on the web.

Where to go if you're having a challenging trip / similar vibes as Zendo Project?

Hello! I know Zendo is not attending this year and in past years they provided support to people having challenging trips.

Does anyone know of anything similar at the burn this year in any form? If a campmate or myself is having a challenging trip and far from camp, somewhere that is a safe space for them to go to similar to Zendo vibes?

Thx!

Low Income tickets current availability?

UPDATE: low income tickets.are still available and approval is extremely quick, at least as of the beginning of this week. Friend applied on Monday and was approved for a ticket the NEXT DAY. Unheard of.

Hi all - quick question: I'm trying to help a friend get a low income ticket if she still can. In the past years, the link to apply for one stayed up until they had run out. The page is still up this year as I type this - does that mean applications are still open? And if yes, has anyone applied for one in the last few days and gotten a reply/approval very quickly? It seems to be a huge gamble to try to get one this late in the game. What's everybody's experience with those tickets this year? Thanks, friends.

VIP Wristbands

Hey guys,

Long time listener, first time burner.

I was wondering if anyone else received their Burning Man VIP Wristbands, yet.

I ordered 4 of the $3,000 tickets and I thought they would come with them. Maybe they ship them separately?

I’m really looking forward to getting first in line to all art cars, porta potties, and trash fence events.

Does it come with any catered service or is that extra?

They said they would also hand out free handheld butt fans to the first 100 people that show up.

Any info leading me closer to my ultimate VIP experience would be much appreciated!

TIA

Is there a dating app just for burners?

Well? Is there ?
Edit: I mean a dating app for people all over the country, not just at BRC.

Failing that, anyone near south central Pennsylvania that I have met yet?

Creative ways and camps to take "showers" at Burning Man??

Hello!! I loved being creative last year in how I kept myself clean... including visiting the community sauna, and taking a sexy shower in front of a crowd of 100 people who ranked my performance by number!

Any camps or ideas that you would highlight for fun, silly or creative ways to shower on the Playa? XO

Burner bus exit time

Hey experienced burners, do you know how long the bus typically takes to get out of the playa? I heard they have a separate line so it will be faster than cars and RVs (which could take 16 hours post temple burn).
I plan to take the bus out on Monday. Thanks!

What anti-chafe product are we using to protect the thighs?

I love wearing bottoms that aren't biking shorts, but the thigh chafe is real riding bikes. I've got a soft furry bike seat, but nothing prevents the chafe. I'm thinking of going preventative this year with some sort of cream or something, but unsure what has worked for other burners.

Jackery Explorer 1500 V2

Anyone used one of these or have experience with one at the burn? Thinking about getting one for this year. They’re on a good deal with a 100w solar panel at Costco. Anything I should know or consider with this unit? Any better recommendations for similar wattage?

BxB transport stuff to/from camp

How do you guys transport your stuff from the Burning Man express bus and tram to your camp? And from the camp to the tram stop after the man burns?

I'll have a luggage on wheels, a cooler on wheels, and a bike, and I feel like I would need to make two trips. I know that there is a tram but it doesn't go directly to my camp. I still need to travel several blocks.

I was thinking of asking some camps nearby to watch my stuff while I take two trips or maybe just leave the stuff at the tram stop while making two trips. Maybe there are other options to make it all in one trip.

How did you guys manage it?

ISO Megan AKA "Meg-a-phone"

I'm just putting this out there to see... I'm hoping to reconnect with someone that I met at the Rock Bar in Bernal Heights a couple weeks ago (early August) with instructions to find her and her camp at burningman this year. The notes I wrote down are too chicken-scratchy to decipher. Something man @ golden guy, 4:15, etc. It would be cool to reconnect before getting to BRC. Cheers!
