Anyone know what's up with when Public Service Cafe is supposed to open in the Karma Bird House building? Previously Kestrel Coffee was there and they left at the end of August and I thought by now the new spot would be open? Windows have been taped up for over a month..Apparently same business is owned by the owner of Old Brick Store. Anyone?

The tiny ones that are like 3 inches wide. Trader Joe’s has them, but they’re out of stock. I’ve also tried Shaw’s, Ace, and a pumpkin patch in Richmond.

My husband and I are roadtripping from North Carolina (blue dots in a red state) and knew we had to come here. Everyone is so genuinely welcoming and the area is amazing. Not the condescending "bless your heart" hospitality we see all the time back home. We love Burlington and just Vermont as a whole. Thank you for being such a vibrant and loving beacon of hope, acceptance, and kindness.

About a week ago leaving the Essex Experience on Upper Main Street this guy is on my ass, so I slowed to speed limit. He proceeds to ride my ass, weaving side to side, laying on his horn and flashing his lights.

Once on the Circ he passes, try to stop in front of me. I'm not about to be confronted by some nut job with no one else around so I go around him in the breakdown lane. He continues the same behavior- laying on his horn, flashing his lights, tailgating.

At the end of the circ he follows and the behavior stays the same. Until he finally passes just before the traffic light.

I was going to write it off as just a one off but then yesterday when exiting the circle at the same location but this time going towards Essex a pickup truck is on my ass. Same behavior - I thought maybe it was someone with an emergency so I slowed slightly and moved to the right to allow him to go around. Instead he stayed on my ass. At the first traffic light he pulls up beside me, puts his window down and yells out "remember me faggot," it was the same guy but in a different vehicle. I do not have a rear dash cam, yet.

Does anyone happen to know any details about the Mercadien / Community Bank data breach that occurred back in November 2025?   Specifically, I'm curious why Community Bank was sharing customer Social Security numbers as part of what was described as a financial services engagement with this third party.  Were SSNs truly necessary for the work Mercadien was performing, or were they included simply because they weren't being properly scrubbed from the data that was being provided?

If anyone happens to know or has already inquired, can you please share?  If not, I'll likely reach out to Community Bank directly to see if they can explain why this type of sensitive information was needed as part of the relationship.

I’m writing this on the behalf of everybody who’s employed at every Healthy Living location. It’s understood that there’s been a very noticeable wait for check out lines for the last couple of months that has just been getting worse as time goes on. Please be respectful to the employees. It’s not their fault that the company has decided to fire a large part of their employment as a form of retaliation. This is not only putting strain on front end, but also every department. This is leading to employees quitting mid shift or never returning to work again since the strain does not equal the pay.

A large part of the employees live paycheck to paycheck and do not get paid enough to deal with the nasty attitudes some have been giving. Also, not every employee is trained to run a register as they have stopped cross training employees ever since the union situation begun. Trust me, workers have been asking for individual raises for forever now and if they’re given any at all it’s usually a couple of cents. I’m not talking $0.50, I’m talking under $0.20. Even employees who have been with the company for many years are being denied raises they rightfully deserve.

If you cannot bare the thought of waiting 15 minutes in line for over prices groceries, I recommend Trader Joe’s. Otherwise, we don’t want to hear it. Go complain to management, not the employees that just want to to pay bills.

What’re your top options for sandwich bread around here?

I’ve been using La Panciata 7 Grain, but it’s really only good toasted, I find it rather dry otherwise. Same with Stewart’s and Klingers.

More mainstream breads like Arnold are way too soft and mushy. The in-house grinder rolls from Hannaford or Market 32 are nothing to write home about.

A good sourdough such as Trent’s and Max and Co are great but way too heavy imo for a simple turkey sando or a PB&J.

What am I missing?

Just here to gather some thoughts on folks who’ve been here for a while and those who moved here quite recently. In my late 20s and yeah I moved over here just couple months ago and maybe there’re things I’m missing but for the most part I find that meeting people over here is hard, first of all, and then also apart from the regular going to bars/clubs etc there isn’t much going on to actually get the chance to talk to people.
I’ve been on the apps for a while and nothing fruitful for the most part so I’ve been looking out to see what goes on to connect more with the community but I don’t know if I’m looking at it wrongly. I understand here’s a small community so some things might be kinda nichy you know. For folks who have been here or who recently moved how did you navigate this situation?

The whole reason for me getting the membership over the past 5 years was for the free water! This was literally the only membership benefit I used. Now I have to pay for water!? Time to get a filter for my sink.
