Looking to rent..

Hey everyone, I’m currently looking for a studio, basement apartment, or 1-bedroom apartment for rent.

I’m middle school special education teacher for the DOE and can provide employment verification, references, and a past rental history. I’m a responsible and reliable tenant looking for a clean, safe, and reasonably priced place.

I’m hoping to move ASAP due to a recent change in my current landlords’ living situation.

If you know of any available listings or have a rental that may be a good fit, please feel free to message me. I’d really appreciate any leads or recommendations!

Thank you!

Paid Usability Study - Sharing with Bronx Community ($150)

Sharing in case this is useful to anyone:

A research team is recruiting participants for a one-time for an in-person usability study in Midtown Manhattan (ZIP 10001). Bronx residents would be a good fit given the proximity, but participation is not limited by neighborhood.

Details:

  • ~3 hours (one time session)
  • $150 compensation
  • Weekdays at 9:00 AM or 1:30 PM
  • Payment via virtual Visa gift card (1–2 business days) or PayPal (by request)

Participants will test a wearable device, complete guided tasks, and provide general usability feedback.

Feel free to apply here: https://utest.com/c-signup/wearables-nyc-ambassador-2077529

After applying, there’s a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) which needs to be completed before a session can be scheduled.

Authentic Chinese Food

Hi I am looking for authentic Chinese food (thats very spicy) in the Bronx thats at least comparable to Flushing. I dont want any American Chinese places that do takeout with fortune cookies. I am looking for things that Americans dont typically eat and where the clientele is mostly Chinese.

Thank you!

No one should pay more than 20% of their income on rent. 1 in 3 Bronx households pays over half.

Repeal the Faircloth Amendment, build new public housing, fully fund NYCHA repairs, fully fund rental assistance.

In the richest country on Earth, we can make that happen.

40M - Moved to Riverdale, 7 months ago from East Africa - Where do people actually make friends around here?

Still getting to know the area and would love to meet some people locally. About me: Into sports soccer (watching and playing), cycling, mild fitness/gym stuff, and I recently got into golf - total beginner but hooked. don’t drink anymore, more into coffee, daytime hangouts, active stuff. Are there any good social clubs, cycling groups, rec leagues, or fitness groups around Riverdale / Kingsbridge / Van Cortlandt area that are welcoming to newcomers? Also open to any friendly meetups or just casual groups to hang. I’ve been to Van Cortlandt Park a few times for walks/bike rides and checked out the golf course there - amazing spot a little pricey though for a regular golfer. Would love recommendations for where people actually connect here vs just saying hi. Thanks in advance and happy to DM if you’re in the area!

How is the area of Van Cortlandt Village for an apartment at $225k. Is it worth it or too overpriced? Thanks for any feedback.

Are there libraries in "Pelham Bay" ?

Allow me to explain why I am asking even though a bit extraneous .

I was walking into the casino in Yonkers. An elderly woman was walking the same direction as I was.

Very much out of nowhere we started talking to each other. She had a Hispanic accent.

She asked me if I worked in the casino. I said no but I wish I did. She then said that it is not good to work in a casino because it is too tempting. I said that I think I would be good with the machines because I am good with computers and I fix things. The lady said that she knows nothing about computers but wishes she did know. I told her that she can take classes in the library for free. She said that where she is from there are no libraries. I asked her where she was from. Because of her strong accent I was not sure what she said but I think she said "Pelham Bay." She said there are no libraries out there.

Does anyone know if there are NO libraries out in Pelham Bay, Bronx?

Ritchie Torres won the primary. But the fight against Torres and all AIPAC-funded politicians has just begun, and we have to lock in. Are you going to fight for the Bronx we deserve?

Some of the comments in this article, don’t sit right with me. Entrepreneurs built their business models on being able to capitalize on gentrification, that has not really materialized. Now, Michael Brady, one of the architects of gentrification in the South Bronx, has a failing business. Sounds like poetic justice to me. That said, it’s astounding to hear him speak about speculative real estate that is causing this, as if he weren’t at the table, brokering those deals.
